Jack Paar told a story about meeting Jack Haley Jr. with Judy Garland in the 60s. He said Judy didn’t want anything to do with him because she hated his father. Guess it was kind of awkward. Then Judy died in 1969, and he married Liza in the 70s. Small wold in Hollywood.

Nice exploration of graves. Only wish these places would be more open to filming. After all, it only keeps their memories alive.

I'm sorry that the security guard doesn't allow filming, I think it's great to see these kind of videos for two reasons, 1. To keep these People's memories alive, and 2. Some people like me will most likely will never get to visit in person, so it's interesting to see what the Cemetery is like. Thankyou Jeff and Sarah, hope filming didn't get you guys into trouble.

Thank you for this episode. I have a aunt and uncle who are buried at Holy Cross, I was not able to attend either one of their funeral services, and a visit to this cemetery is on my to-do list. It is very disturbing to see tractor marks on the head stones, for such a famous and financially secure cemetery.

When you take a close look at the 'stars' of today, it's glaringly obvious they aren't a patch on the entertainers gone by. The females were absolutely smoking! Thank you Jeff and Sarah for showing me the final resting place of one of my favourites, John Candy, gone too soon. God bless you both and take care🙏

Right next to Holy Cross is the Jewish cemetery, Hillside Memorial Park. Many celebrities are buried there also, including Al Jolson, Jack Benny, Loren Greene, Michael Landon and Dinah Shore. It is also worth a visit.

Very interesting! The Clark Gable/Loretta Young story was a little unsettling. I love history and thank you and your wife for what you do!

When ever I go to a grave yard I’m always relieved that I’m not on one one of those headstones. Another thought no matter how much fame and fortune we all end up in the dirt. Great vid stirred up a lot of memories , Thank you

My boyfriend turned out to be a problem in the house and there were police calls. But some people think it's wasn't my father haunting the house because my b/f and his partner were in skilled construction trades in Los Angeles and they brought Sharon Tate's picnic table into my yard when it was going to thrown away.

I still enjoy listening to and watching Lawrence Welk reruns.

Fascinating! When I hear the old music, there is something very melancholy about this place, just thinking about times gone by and so many greats who have passed on. Even though I'm 23, I've had the pleasure of growing up around classic films, music, and hymns in church, thanks to grandparents and parents who appreciated and valued them. I remember Mel Torme playing in my grandparents' home, and although my grandfather is gone, I'll still listen to Torme once in a while -- and it reminds me of him. It's odd to say one misses a certain era gone by when one didn't live in it, but I do in a way, and I feel that our culture has lost some incredible people, values, and a way of life. Just listen to the mainstream music from back in the 40s -- the absolute beauty in it. No era in time is perfect by any means. The 20th century was a difficult one -- the Depression and WWII had a profound influence on my grandparents -- but all of the famous persons mentioned in this video represent a very special era in history, I do believe. Those difficulties of the time made people more unified than today, it seems. This has been a good tour. Thank you for sharing.

Well said my friend. But I was your age I used to listen to 40s music even though I was born in 1961 so I appreciate everything that you said. I think some of the richest times in America was when we were faced with defeating an enemy during world war two. Some of the classiest architecture, music, clothing style, housing style, and films came from the era that is represented in the celebrities that I featured here. Music has a very unique way of eliciting emotion from us and I really love the last song in this video. It’s leaning on the everlasting arms.

I've walked and photographed in most of the cemeteries in my home town, and county, for genealogy research and typed up many for our county library. Fortunately I didn't have guards interfering. Unfortunately pain and mobility problems have stopped me. Keep up the great work as long as you can, at age 69, most of the celebrities in this video were the best entertainment I had growing up, watching TV. Thanks and blessings! 🙏👏👵

Peter O’Tool mentioned before his passing actors today lack the voice, unique character and screen presence of bygone actors.

My grandma and Bela Lugosi were both from Lugo, Hungary (now part of Romania.)

Thanx for taking us along.---I grew up in North Dakota, and for 3 years, lived within 20 minutes of the Welk farm. One year, on our way home from vacationing in our family farmstead farther in the State, Mom & I stopped to tour the Welk Farm, which has been preserved, and it was a fabulous experience. Yes, The Lawrence Welk Show was always a staple at our house growing up, as you can imagine, and I subscribe to their You-tube site even today (altho' I don't visit it very often!)

My mother's mother grew up in the same town in North Dakota that Lawrence Welk did. She would always say "he was older than I am". She was right. He was 2 years older. I went to visit the Welk farmstead during the summer of 2016. His family was originally from Strassburg, Russia (now Ukraine) and the people who moved to that town in North Dakota named the town after the city in Ukraine. I ended up giving him some insight into the "Germans from Russia" that Welk was descended from.

Another excellent post you guys! I had no idea so many movie stars were buried there, my grandparents on my dad's side, are both there as well. I think I need to pay them a visit. It sucks about the security guards... I feel like cemeteries are also meant for the living to remember and celebrate those who have gone before us.

Thank you for your beautiful video of Holy Cross Cemetery. My grandparents and parents are all buried in the same location very close to the grotto and I used to love to just walk the grounds when visiting. Didn't know that there was a moratorium on taking pictures and video. It seems as if everything you did was very respectful to the dad and their histories. It's a wonderful testimonial to a time that will someday be sadly forgotten.

I just wanted to say how sorry I was when your beautiful mom passed away. You did a wonderful tribute to your dear sweet mom. My prayers are with you my dear friend. I couldn't help but cry with you near the end of that moving video. I lost my mom and Dad 11 months apart from each other. I miss them both every day. Wow, thanks Mark. I really appreciate your very thoughtful message to us! It was hard for me to make that video about mom passing but it was my only way of expressing what I felt about her. On Halloween she will have been gone a year. I’m comforted by all the great folks like you who, in a sense, shared in my mourning and celebration of her life! Take care my friend!

You could have offered the guard 15 minutes of fame with a bit part in your movie. Then he couldn't kick you out. Just kidding. Great film as always.

haha the security guards comment. So weird you can't photograph. So many ppl have taken videos there. Thank you for the tour. =) I'm 55, it's a little unnerving when watching videos about celerity deaths and others that so many die at or around my age.

I never pressed but it was always in the back of my mind. My grandmother's maiden name was Oldfield, she hitchhiked from Kearney, Nebraska in the early 1920's to Southern California. She's was part of the Oldfield family. I'll pay my respects next time I go. Thank you for all you do it's deeply appreciated.

Back in the 70's,we had 1 channel on tv in central N.Y.Every Sat;we had Lawrence Welk show,and I loved it! Those were the days!Lol

I think the deal is, you CAN film there but you have to pay the cemetery in order to do so. That's how at least one other Hollywood cemetery operates. I think the money goes toward grave maintenance, but I'm not really sure about that part.

Hey, Lawrence Welk rocks! His show has been on TV for 65 years and counting. He had some awesome musicians. Okay, the dancing was a bit corny at times, but the music was primo. Nice vid. Glad you were able to "dodge" (Lawrence Welk's original sponsor!) the cemetery stasi.

My mother and grand parents are buried there too. It's a very nice place and well kept.

Wow, you got to see more than I ever did in that place. I only got to see John Candy, Spike Jones and Sharon Tate. The security there are like vultures. Glad you got to see some legends.

Yeah, some of those areas looked to be in pretty grave condition.

Lawrence Welk used to be on Saturday evenings. I watched it every Saturday when I stayed at my grandmother's house. My grandmother would watch "Creature Double Feature" with me. Usually Godzilla movies. How I miss those times...

Hey Mark, how are you doing? We’re doing great. I think the problem with the recordings to learn 1830s and 1940s is that equipment was not call up to par and made everybody sound tinny. I don’t know why my parents watched Lawrence Welk on TV but it was torture for me to see it. Maybe because we only had three or four channels at the time. Lawrence Welk would not survive in today’s world. Audiences are far more sophisticated. Would you agree?

Lots of popular folks buried here. Don't know why the security guards were irksome. My nephew is buried here but on the far side.

Apparently the cemetery gets complaints from the families of these celebrities and that's why the security is so ramped up there.

Goodness,,,that cemetery is full of stars...some I remember from childhood, and many I heard about from my grandmother and Mom. My Mom would have loved to tour that one with me.

It's interesting how some people see the world it's nice to know people like you take the time to sort it out. And give us all perspectives Thank you again your number one fan
