THIS STORY:
The Fuchs murders of June 1974 turned the summer into one of horror for the quiet Park Ridge neighborhood in which the family of five lived. Though more than four decades have passed since the case was closed in August of that year, it remains a key moment in the town's history. Before mass murders were a common occurrence in headlines and on the nightly news, the Fuchs tragedy was an outlier.
THIS CHANNEL:
_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Your lifting the covers over the photos of Gustav and Selma Wendt makes me wonder how long it had been since someone lifted those and saw their faces? Those photos certainly are sharp and it's like you gave them a glimpse of the world for just a moment.

I googled the parents' name and the word murder and found an interesting article from the Chicago Tribune that was written in 2015, 41 years after the murder. It gave input from friends and neighbors that suggested that Jeffrey did not like his siblings and had been having issues with his parents, including his mother controlling his life, not letting him drive among other things. Although this video was well done, the article gives a bit more information about possible motive and also Jeffrey's behavior and lack of social skills.

Evening Ron, loved those photos, were still intact, obviously people in this cemetery respect their passed. Jeffrey, I'm assuming, had issues, who knows what? Who can say ,who can judge? But to have no memorial stone for this family? My heart is heavy. Is it because? People judge, his family on Jeffrey? This happens so many times! To myself I find it very disrespectful. They were the victims, they never choose their lives outcome? They should be shown respect. Saying from my ma. Whom I've lost! You can choose your friends but not your family, a wise woman she was.

Someone must have remembered the murders in the 2015 Chicago Tribune. Article then about what happened in 1974. So sad, and hits close to home in my southeast Iowa. Shawn Bentler killed 5 members of his family in Bonaparte, Iowa. Mom, Dad and his 3 beautiful Sisters in 2006. Then in 2016, on my birthday in April, my cousin Tiffany and her Momma were murdered by Tiffany’s estranged husband. Rural Danville, Iowa. Then Tiffany’s soon to be ex killed himself. Tiffany had a restraining order against him, but we all know it’s just a piece of paper. Thugs don’t abide by a piece of paper. So sad for the Fuchs family! Thanks for telling their story!

These are not "faces of the forgotten" these are faces of the remembered. Great work! Also, in eastern Europe they engrave a portrait from a photograph on the tombstone. The family of my girlfriend who die in 1992 in a car crash have her smiling face engraved and I see her every time I drive by the cemetery as her family plot is near the road. They are russian and they told me it's very common there. I saw that form myself as i lived there in 2002-2003. We should do that so our faces will be remembered and forever there for the people to see. ( sorry for my English. It's not my language.)

This is such a heartbreaking story💔 you never know what's on someone's mind, or what's going on behind closed doors. Those old pictures you lifted up were so clear, It must have been years since anyone lifted them up. I love the monuments with pictures, they tell a story. When I was 12 in 1972, and living in West Jordan Utah, I had rode my bike to a cemetery and found an old monument with a picture of a middle aged woman who had died years earlier. Her name was Lilly Papas Lancaster. That picture Intrigued me so much, and she was so beautiful, I started riding my bike there often to visit her grave and take her flowers. All these years later I can see her face and remember her name. I love the stories you do, I've always loved history. Exactly, but, it does happened. In my tri- state area, a cluster of small towns it happens quite often. But, right now there’s a hearing going on in our area where a whole family plotted to murdered this young lady and, tempted to go after several of her family.

Great story. I really hope you make your way to the Mansfield Memorial Cemetery in Mansfield OH, someday. It is such a treasure chest of semi famous and famous people from the time, some amazing old graves, even a whole family of graves shaped like trees & tree stumps with animals, stone & real crawling all about. I feel guilty keeping such an unbelievable place a secret so if you do come just prepare to fall in love with a city and have a few days because the place is gigantic as far as Ohio cemeteries go.

This reminds me so much of the Grochmal case in Chicopee, Massachusetts. A fairly wealthy family with a very nice house. I was friends with the daughter Denise. Her father got it into his head that he had some fatal disease and that the family would not be able to survive with him. He killed his mother and family dog in the basement. He ended up killing his wife, their son and both daughters before killing himself. This was in about 1981. Such a horrible tragedy.

What a horrific story! What must have been in that young man's mind to make him do something like that?? I'm surprised the cemetery doesn't have a record, especially with so many. I hope this mystery can be solved! Thanks Ron! Stay safe and take care!

What a sad story. This family had to have had some really deep and bad issues going on. Back in those days families didn't air their dirty laundry. Too bad there wasn't anyone who could of found out and prevented this tragedy. May they all rest in peace.😌

Wow! I would never have known about this family if it weren't for you, Ron. I was 3 when this happened. I feel sorry for the family and friends left behind to wonder, feel guilty, etc. for not knowing that he was in need of help. I can only imagine what his best friend felt. Whether they are buried or cremated and gone they do deserve a marker. I know if I was a family member he murdered I wouldn't want my murderer's name next to mine family or not. (I only say this because I was almost murdered at the age of 25, and the monsters who tried to kill me better never be near me again in life or death.) I love seeing the memorials with pictures. I love when you can put a face to a name. Those old pictures make all of them look like Hollywood stars. They are all beautiful. Thank you again Ron for remembering those that would otherwise be forgotten. You have the best channel. Others tell stories too, but none can tell them like you do. Rest in Peace Fuchs family. Godspeed Ron

@@elizabethallen8569 well after a weeks worth of digging i found out the fate of the grandma mrs Emma Foller....sadly she died in 1990...she was the mother of Ruth, both of raymonds parents Joseph and Theresa were already deceased as well as ruths father Charles Foller when the murders occurred in74......yound Lynda had a best friend she had spent that fateful day with who I am trying to track down as a source of inquiry, also have narrowed down a fuchs and foller cousin who is in his 70s now and may or may not be alive still.but thats it as far as next of kin ....also the news from back then states they were all cremated but the contraditing evidence and the fact the family plot Ron has discovered here at montrose does INDEED have bodies in the ground leads me to agree with this effort to memorialize them and im committed to helping as much as i can
