Family Makes Paper the Same Way for 300 Years

Xuan paper is what’s used in Chinese calligraphy and watercolor paintings. Artists and poets love using it because of its soft and fine texture. It takes about 100 steps before this incredibly thin yet durable paper is made. We head to Anhui to a paper mill run by a family that has been making Xuan paper the traditional way for 27 generations.

I really really love these unique stories about the traditional hand made practices still preserved today. These are such valuable small pieces of important cultural knowledge which i dearly hope will hold on for many more hundreds of years to come. This type of paper is so unique iconic to Chinese culture as it carried so much knowledge and art over many many years, i feel like it has a life of its own. Your content definitely deserves more views! so all the best for the future :D

Haven't even watched past the opening scene yet, but I gotta say, the sound of cutting that paper is ridiculously pleasing to the ears.

$10 for 100 pieces? How big are the pieces? After watching this, that seems way too cheap.

He never said WHY his industry was shrinking all the time??? Is it shrinking because people write less or is it shrinking because machines can do the same more cheap and with less people??

Everything was great until we cut to a scene of a worker smoking a cigarette. Seriously... making paper and smoking while doing it. Paper in its raw state absorbs everything around it, from the pungent burnt ash smell of cigarettes to even the tar from an exhaled breath. Up until that point I would have considered purchasing it. They may go on about family pride and legacy, but where's the quality if they let people smoke in it's vacinity. It's as asinine as if they made the paper beside an open toilet or pig pen...
