So yeah, herpes isn't always linked to sex.

That's herpes zoster you are talking about. It is chickenpox in childhood and shingles later in life. It is not an STD. Herpes simplex virus in this episode on the other hand is an STD, but having had chickenpox when you were a kid does not mean you have herpes simplex. Only herpes zoster. Two different viruses, although from one virus family but they are not the same thing. Educate yourself.
