I love watching your big monthly grocery haul videos! I film mine too to keep myself accountable to my budget. I've wanted to try doing on big haul for the month, but have been too scared to. Maybe one day!

We started doing that same snack system several months ago. Its a game changer. Only adjustment I had to do was say when they could eat their snacks. Lol we homeschool so some days they tried at 9am. 😂

I am so sorry that you always get haters on here! I think you did great and $100 for snacks feel very reasonable. Something I’ve started realizing is that people who don’t live on the West Coast just don’t understand how expensive it is compared to the South/Midwest. It’s a whole other ball game for sure!

If it’s public school we could never send those things for bday or snacks in classroom. They could have for lunchroom. For bday we could order through them cupcakes. Or send a book or gift for the classroom like a game. They encouraged things like novelty pencils and nonfood gifts. The whole push for better nutrition really never made it to the cafeteria expect maybe throwing out the vending machines with pop. But in the classroom water was encouraged and many foods off limits.

What’s your total food budget? I always get a little confused because I think you’ve mentioned that you do fill in food shopping for fresh produce and dairy weekly. I’ve changed up mine food shopping that I think really helps. I do the meats and frozen stuff as a monthly shopping (because if we buy everything for the whole month, somehow it’s all gone mid month 🙃) and snacks and fresh products/dairy weekly.

Great question! We spend about $600-$800 on this haul. Then about $35 a week on fresh produce.

@@mariagodina5352 I'm pretty sure they aren't all teenagers yet. However, I've already done 2 teenage boys and now have 3 more kids 12 and under and we've never spent that on snacks. Fact is, if you don't have fun snacks then they won't eat them. Kids also snack because they are bored. None of the kids have or ever did really snack because the snacks were veggies and fruits. If I prep and put the fruit or veggies on the table then they eat them but if they have to get them out of the fridge themselves, they don't get eaten, even if they are prepped (only true for the 12 and under, the older two didn't really eat fruits and veggies). No little bags of chips or crackers, fruit snacks, cookies, or the like. We've had a bag of chips open for like a month now because they don't reach for them as they aren't our normal "snacks". We also don't have a microwave so no quick throwing in something like chicken nuggets, corn dogs, ect. I watch another lady on youtube that has 5 kids and she stopped buying the "fun" snacks and her kids don't really snack much anymore because there aren't fun snacks. She was amazed by it.

I cannot imagine spending $100 on snacks. We don’t do much in terms of snacks, but if we do… it’s sliced apples, carrots, celery, cucumber or oranges. Occasionally a granola bar or cheese & crackers.
