All of the whole ATV series from 1980 and 1981 would be good.

Awesome memories. Friday meant no school for two days and at my grandparents house always loved watching Family Fortunes or Play Your Cards Right. If I'm right in thinking did they change the setting from Pink Purple to this Brown Yellow in Series 3

Yeah, series 3 was the first time they used this set. Personally, I think the first set looked much more modern but it was 1981 so there

I recall the 1980's Play Your Cards Right came on on Friday's at 5.15pm. There's a clip on youtube of Philip Elsmore of Thames handing over to LWT at 5.15 on Friday. LWT wasted no time in coming in big after taking over from Thames. Is it true that the London ITV region viewers loved Thames but hated LWT?

I don't London viewer at all hated LWT I certainly loved both. It was Thames and LWT that actually hated each other @@dvidclapperton

So it would have been recorded at the Broad Street studios in Birmingham at this point. It moved to Nottingham when Les Dennis took it over. Mind you both the Birmingham and Nottingham studios have long gone now. ITV seemed to have abandoned the Midlands altogether.

No, it was still recorded at Elstree at this point. It moved to Nottingham when Max took over. Bob frequently mentions Elstree during Series 4 too. Max mentions Nottingham when they do the Christmas special with The Agony Aunts v TV-am.

@@gordonbeattie4864 I stand corrected. So Family Fortunes was never made in Birmingham at all, which is odd when you see the ATV/Central logos pop up. Bullseye was though.

@@keithlivingstone5321 It does seem strange doesn't it? When ATV sold Elstree to the BBC all their productions then came from Broad Street or Lenton Lane. It's possible some of Bob's editions were recorded at Broad Street Also, the ATV logos on the countdown clocks were different to distinguish which studios they came from. This video of Crossroads has one from Birmingham. kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4GTmJmOhdaddto.html

The Elstree studios were a legacy of when ATV was an ITV company for London in the 60s. They continued to operate it even after they lost the London franchise. This would then be one of the reasons Central came into existence, as the IBA insisted that ATV/Central sell Elstree as the company no longer had any proper link to London. Also, the IBA insisted that ATV/Central improve its regional output, hence the opening of Lenton Lane, so the East Midlands could be properly served. A lot of ATV's big 70s shows were made at Elstree, because the big stars didn't then have to travel up to Birmingham. The Muppet Show and Sapphire and Steel are two examples of shows made there at this time, although, sadly, neither were made after ATV became Central, although Sapphire and Steel's last adventure was transmitted in 1982 with a "Central Presents..." followed by ATV ident.

Here's what would become a very rare thing these days on a quiz show or game show. All male hosts and all male contestants wearing shirt, tie, suit/normal trousers, and their shirts were tucked in. Today, vast majority of male hosts not wearing a tie with open neck shirts, and vast majority of male contestants are wearing not tucked in open neck shirts, and not all wearing normal trousers. It's certainly deteriorated badly since 1981.

ATV didn't 'lose' their franchise, ACC sold off 49% and re-branded ATV to Central at the start of '82. Transmission date was 9th January 1982 so the Central ident plastered over the ATV 'Zoom 2' ident and so did the endcap as it plastered 'ATV Colour Production' with 'Central Production' with the coloured globe.

It was transmitted on 9 January 1982. This was after ATV became Central, and it was shown with Central, rather than ATV identification: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iGeJktehlpC1m84.html
