Max cracks me up when he says. "You have won a prize." Also when he says, "Big Money."
Love max great actor too sadly missed by many
Max Bygraves was such a lovely talented gentleman and could do many things. A great singer, actor and comedian, but no one was less suited to being a game show host. He did his best for two years though and you can’t begrudge him that.

Max said in his autobiography he never really watched gameshows as he wasn't a fan. Also said he wasn't at the same level of gameshow hosting as Bob. On the other hand had great time and laughter meeting families

Wasn’t nice to his wife or family Though.
Max and Bob were probably the best hosts of the show history

Les Dennis is okay but he gets on my nerves when he does impressions of Mavis and Frank Spencer. Vernon Kay is is annoying when he shouts mega loud, "Our servey said!" Then he acts like a prized prat when he gets the props out and gets the families to dress-up and act. I think to myself, "Is this a quiz show or a bloody pantomime on behalf of Christopher Biggins?" Then then there's the annoying Gino D'Acampo that keeps on saying, "Come to Gino." Another prat on a half-decade pass from the prat farm. He's supposed to be a chef not a TV presenter. He can't even present a fart from his arse.

Ainsley Harriott has also presented TV shows, and he's a chef. I've never seen a person's usual TV job as a barrier to them being a presenter... Comedians, singers, newsreaders, actors... All have hosted gameshows... So why not celebrity chefs too?

Totally agree with that. Looking back, Max gave it a damned good show...he was very funny in, and was great with the contestants.

Lovely memory. I've got similar happy memories of watching the Les Dennis years when I was growing up.

@@RetroMuseumHQ started watching again when Les took over. I used to look forward to Friday when I finished school as a child off to my grandparents house and get excited when LWT would start as live in London. I loved watching Family Fortunes with my now late grandmother (passed away last year 😢 💔 miss her dearly) when Bob Monkhouse was host. I was intrigued by the board always kept asking why it kept changing every round 😂🤣 or the eh eh even how it changes from at the start from Family Fortunes to Bob Monkhouse name and back to Family Fortunes 🤣

@@rajnirvan3336 when I was a lad I used to watch Dale's Supermarket Sweep and Family Fortunes or an old film in my nan's house with the fire going and a nice cup of tea or a nice dinner. Happy times!
The best!!!
What a comeback for the Hornby family.

Funny how in the very 1st series Bob Monkhouse mentioned Max Bygraves and low and behold became host 4 years later. So in return Max mentions Bob

I'm more bemused about the veiled reference to one Richard Dawson (or the guy (a Brit himself at that) that was famous/infamous depending on your viewpoint for kissing women contestants on the lips here in the US, funny enough as an aside, his last wife he actually met on the show, her family came on and won a few games, he got her number and eventually they had a little daughter some time after his version of the Feud as we know it went off the air for the first time and got married).

@@ajk Richard Dawson was a complete unknown in his native country. A lot of people don't even remember that he was married to Diana Dors.
Rip max bygraves 1922-2012 press f to pay respects to him he died in oz
The first question should've been, Name any item that uses a zip fastener.
Max at the top of the show "this is my favorite programme" Max 15 years later "how I hated that show" Just listen on the first lockout, how he explains the rules - all over the shop
Everything seemed classier back then by the looks of it.
The sound we hear when somebody gets an answer wrong sounds like a fart.
Max the "attractive" GOAT 😊😊❤❤
Max was so awkward. Bob Monkhouse was the master.
