NOBODY built up the tension to boiling point better than Great Uncle Monkhouse. A true showman and pro. He really wanted every family to win and was genuinely overjoyed for all when they did. 😊

11:25 And 15 years later, that song would also become the most successful and widely-imported quiz show in the world!

Bob Monkhouse is the only presenter that was voted the 50 best liked presenter and the 50 least liked presenter at the same time and was one of the nicest guys. If you can find it online id recommend watching a documentary about his life, showing how hard he worked. Les Dennis was the longest presenter of the show, but he could not match the comedic talent that Bob had. I think that is why he stopped doing the stand up part of the show.

I was a child when Bob Monkhouse was around. He was a big part of my childhood from stand up to game shows. I always remember saying to my family he seems like a really nice man.

Hadn't the British version been running for 3 years at this point? So, no-one got the jackpot in 3 years? I've been watching quite a few episodes of the old American, original version and it was much more common for families to win the jackpot than not win it, it seems to me, whereas that's flipped on the British version. I wonder was that down to the American questions being easier or down to the British contestants being more nervous?

There had been jackpot winners on "Family Fortunes" before, but this was the first time that a family won £3,000 on the programme. For the first series, the jackpot was a flat £1,000, while the following two series had the limit at £2,500.

I've got to disagree with you. The late great Bob was an absolute legend but Les was a close second. It is a good job nobody in the Lines family was called Ed.
