    I keep all the important documents, as well as a bunch of family photos on DVD, in double plastic bags. The bags are in a .50 caliber ammo can that's been painted fluorescent orange for visibility in darkness. Totally waterproof and quite resistant to crush damage. The can is kept prominently in the upstairs linen closet. Everyone in the family knows where it is and understands to grab it if there's a fire, threat of flood, whatever.

    @Whitaker's World , it worked well even when the kids were younger. Whenever we had fire drills, they raced each other to be the one who grabbed the ammo can. It was extremely funny early on because neither was strong enough to carry it down the stairs. 😁

    I work in insurance sales and I can tell you this is a very good idea especially if you have to ever file a claim. Nice video.

    Life insurance, funeral plans, etc. Coz I wouldn't know if I don't wake up one morning. My relatives know that I have a folder which has everything sorted within.

    Excellent point on recording serial numbers of valuables (electronics, tools, toys, etc). Besides being useful in the event of an insurance claim being filed, they are critical for LEOs to 1) return recovered stolen property to the victim, and 2) proving that the scumbag is in possession of stolen property. The best time to record the serial number is when you bring the item home from the store; and if there is a warranty card, fill it out and send it in. If you have items that do not have a serial number, you can engrave them with a "unique" identifier. After 21 years in law enforcement, it still makes my day to return stolen property to the rightful owner.

    I've had an emergency family binder for years. It has all the usual important documents, plus our pets medical records, and since we don't microchip, photos of us with our pets. Ours is in the 'tool' safe with our important home defense...tools 😊

    This binder is also valuable when someone dies so include End of Life info i.e. burial preferences and/or pre-paid funeral plans, organ donor wishes, a copy of your will (with lawyer contact info), AND pet info, especially with photo in case you are separated and need to find/claim them. re: video - it's too easy to overlook the expensive machinery kept in the garage. Not only tools but lawn care machinery, bicycles, motorcycles, ATV's, etc. Off site property is easy to forget, i.e. RV's, storage unit, burial plots, vacation homes, boats (and their trailers), etc. If the family has extensive genealogy information and photos, this is probably already digitized, but be sure. Thanks for mentioning the child ID kit, which would also be handy for adults. A retired Army soldier had his filled out including dental records, fingerprints, and DNA sample.

    We call it a “What if... binder”. Back 20 years ago my was stolen & they blew up the engine racing down the freeway. I was able to use the copy of car registration to prove to compound yard where it was towed that I owned it, & got access to it before the insurance adjuster got around to looking at it. Otherwise, have used it for lots & lots of minor things.

    I do this on a separate external hard drive and a usb drive. Everything is copied to each. The hard drive stays at home. The USB drive stays at my desk at work. My wife and my two adult children know the password to these drives. The very first folder on the drive is named "IMPORTANT STUFF". Then I have inside folders named MILITARY RETIREMENT, FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT, ON-LINE BANKING, ACCOUNTS AND PAYING BILLS, SOCIAL SECURITY, RETIREMENT SAVINGS PLAN, HOME AND AUTO INSURANCE, HOUSEHOLD INVENTORY, TAXES, FIREARMS, MEDICAL, ETC, ETC. Then subfolders in each, of course.

    In addition to the main folder I have a "lean" version for evacuation purposes. I pared down any less essential documents and have the remainder printed at a reduced size and protected for travel. Not so as easy to read but all the info is there. I also include copies of our professional certificates/licenses in both the main binder and go kit. Being able to show evidence of training in various fields may prove useful when trying to convince other stressed communities that you have valuable skills.

    It's not a bad idea to keep an electronic copy in an online service, e.g. dropbox, in case you have a "You can't go back" emergency or a problem while you're traveling.

    I guess that lineman that claimed that a 5K generator could knock them off 20 miles down the line is full of it. Explain to me exactly what happens when that 120VAC hits that transformer on the pole and tries to power it backward. Exactly. Your generator will be toast the moment you try powering that transformer and no current is going to be shot 20 miles down the line. Why do people make these claims?

  • @jameshuggins4300

    @jameshuggins4300

    4 жыл бұрын

    Because its true. The reason we tell u to turn off your breaker is tha transformers will backfired. If put 120VAC into the secondary side of the transformer it will put out anywhere from 4000 to 30000 volts back on the line causing a dangerous backfeed. Of unregulated voltage on the line.

    I just turned 45 on August 30th of this year. And up until 2014 I was in a horrible marriage and I stayed in it long enough for my daughter to get old enough to know what was going on and see the truth. My wife would sabotage most jobs I had and call the cops and have me arrested for bs. She stabbed me through the hand and sliced the back of my right thigh with a box cutter while I was sleeping. The list goes on and on. But the bottom line is I married this woman when God told me not to. Since 2014 when I literally walked away out in the middle of nowhere on a night with no moon and clouds in the sky I walked 8 Miles and dress shoes with no socks. These were hard heavy clunky dress shoes. Needless to say I was missing a lot of skin on my feet and ankles along with many blister. The next day I walked another 8 to 10 miles and then the next day I walked another 8 to 10 miles. The first night a bail bondsman was driving down the road in the middle of nowhere going to bond someone out of jail and he picked me up and paid for a hotel room for the first night. Then I ended up with one of my friends for a year or so. I lived in the Ozark mountains after that in the tent for a little while in December and then I moved in with a guy that I was working with and he acted like a slave driver so I ended up coming back home. By August 2016 I had my daughter. By the end of October we had nowhere to live. No vehicle. Then we ended up in a massive building built in the 1700s living in a beautiful apartment for rent free. All we had was a twin bed a few clothes a few toys. No electricity or water. I started really seeking God and working on myself making up for all that lost time. I dealt with addictions and started eating healthy and exercising and spending more time in the scriptures and prayer and worship everyday. From probably May of 2017 God set Me on fire. And it was boot camp time. It was college time and my college was KZread university to begin with. Along with the Bible and other books I collected along the way. I spent over 25,000 hours from May of 2017 up until now October 2021studying and doing the things I was learning. I had to homeschool my daughter because of the school system corruption. So I had to learn how to work from home without any technical skills or knowledge. For a long time we had food stamps as our only income and whatever God would bless us with. Needless to say I've been slowly and gradually building up stuff that we would need and we can use. This year I was able to spend several thousand dollars to get prepper items and a couple of weapons and bullets and so on and so forth. This video was awesome but what I can say is I'm so busy getting ready and getting prepared that I don't have time to work. I know God takes care of us and the thing is I have a list a mile long that I'm working on. I could use prayers for financial outpouring. Truck and trailer. Maybe even an RV. At least for 9 years Father God has been driving me to get to the Missouri Ozarks close to Springfield Missouri. The thing is when I'm doing the things he wants me to do like ministry work, going out witnessing in the streets, preparing, taking care of dad stuff and household stuff and so on. It's almost as if that's the only work He wants me to do and ihe wants to show me that He can make all this stuff happen from me if I just put in the work and the work He has me doing doesn't make money. We've basically been alone all this time with no help aside from a few people and occasional strangers that show up and do things for us or give us things. Father has been speaking to me lately during this time of fasting and prayer that my breakthrough is now. Spiritually, physical health, relationships, finances, the whole shebang. I did not mention that I have a painful protruding hernia in my groin area and eight or nine years ago I tested positive for hepatitis c because of the life of rebellion I was living. Throughout the years I have had work from home and construction work and things like that where I could take my daughter but it's been hit and miss. Please pray for me and my daughter Rosie. Rosie just turned 14 in August this year.
