Familial Pulmonary Fibrosis explained

Familial pulmonary fibrosis means that there are several cases of pulmonary fibrosis in the same family (among blood relatives). I discuss this situation, genetic predisposition, telomeres and telomere related genes and what all these mean for families in which several people appear to have similar conditions (such as pulmonary fibrosis).
Familial pulmonary fibrosis (FPF) may sometimes be referred to as familial interstitial pneumonia (FIP) or familial interstitial lung disease.

Bingo! you just described me..69 yrs old.. cac scan 2 yrs ago showed lung fibrosis.. never smoked no history of exposure to environmental causes.. my younger brother discovered same scarring very recently.. refrerred to specialist.. his diagnosis was probably familial.. referred to genetic counciling/testing next month..So far i am in very good condition, cat scan shows no additional deterioration from original 2 yrs ago..i exercise weight lift to utter exhaustion.. the drs are pleasantly surprised and have described my exercise capacity as enourmous considering my age.. i believe my dedication to fitness has helped make my pulmonary functions much more efficient than an average sedentary 70 yr old..

Im worried because, even though im only early 30s, my father, uncle, grandmother (all related) & now grandfather on my mothers side have all been diagnosed or died from this. I have a history of smoking and only recently gave up vaping. I have debated whether to get genetically tested or to have a scan.
