Fame, Fatherhood, and Leaving "Lois & Clark". || The Clifton Duncan Podcast 46: DEAN CAIN.
Dean Cain is a multi-faceted, Emmy-winning filmmaker and actor.
An All-American football player at Princeton University, he moved to entertainment when an injury ended his NFL career.
While he's most well-known for starring as Clark Kent/Superman in “Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”, he's also produced and hosted “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not”, and made close to 200 films--including “Out of Time” (playing opposite Denzel Washington), “The Broken Hearts Club,” God’s Not Dead,” “Vendetta,” “Gosnell,” and the soon-to-be released, “Little Angels” (which he wrote, produced, directed, and starred-in).
Additionally, you may have seen him co-host THE TODAY SHOW, or FOX AND FRIENDS in-between his numerous film and television projects, and he currently hosts season 9 of “Masters of Illusion” for the CW, along with season 3 of "The Christmas Caroler Challenge".
A strong believer in Human Rights, Dean received the prestigious ORDER OF ARMENIA for producing the anti-Genocide documentary film, ARCHITECTS OF DENIAL. Dean’s newest documentary, HATE AMONG US, recently won an Emmy. HATE AMONG US, shines a light on the current rise of anti-Semitism throughout the United States and Europe.
A single father and a staunch supporter of our military and first responders, Dean is honored to serve as a sworn Sheriff’s Deputy in Frederick County, Virginia and a Reserve Police Officer in Pocatello, Idaho.

20:00 that part about using the video game to create a space to talk with your offspring is brilliant!

Totally agree. I play an MMO with my son and a couple of my mates and it is an opportunity to interact with him as a friend and a peer

Doing something the kid likes (video games, baking, etc) is the best way to communicate with them.
Fantastic get, Dean is great.
Oh, I'm so glad you got, Dean Cain. He is always a delight to listen to. He cuts straight through the BS. He said it so well. Accept and respect people's differences. Our individualism is what has made America great.
Man, I loved Lois, and Clark. Such a soap opera though... XD I am so happy to hear that the real supermen aren't woke.

According to Curtis Armstrong's memoir, he and Teri didn't get along during filming.
aww dean, you were my favorite 90ies superman
Man... my mom made me watch Lois and Clark when I was a kid... going through the shift from kid to adolescents the show really wasn't my jam.. but getting older and having kids... I can't do anything but respect Dean Cain. 😅 😉👉
"Nothing can take the place of home in rearing and teaching children, and no worldly success can compensate for failure in the home." Mr. Cain definitely made the right call. His relationship with his son matters so much more than his résumé.

Dean Cain--what a jewel! Meanwhile, in November 2022, the National Education Association (NEA) teacher's union tweeted "Educators love their students and *know better than anyone* what they need to learn and to thrive." The NEA hates people like Dean Cain, because he believes that parents must play the key and crucial role in the rearing and teaching of children.
Kevin Sorbo could be a fun interview
This has to be one of my favorite, so far. Went by way too fast for me.
THIS was MY superman growing up. oh i KNOW what im doing the next 55 minutes, thank you BOTH!!!!!!! KEEP IT UP CLIFTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fathers are awesome. Mine was one of the best. Loved the show!
Stoked to see your channel growing bro 👏 Dean Cains the man.
This was such an enjoyable discussion! Thank you!
If cool had a soundtrack it would be that groove at the beginning of your podcast.
Nice! Good thing I'm binging "Lo & Clark" on HBO Max.
My favorite Superman of all time. Great interview as always.
As soon as I heard this vid got demonetized Clifton, I decided to watch and glad I did.
Just discovered this podcast tonight and I'm a better man for it. Three episodes deep now.
It's interesting; I get the sense Dean has avoided falling into the ideological "pit" of Hollywood (so to speak) by going out of his way to pursue meaningful life experiences, beyond just his acting career. Fatherhood, writing, traveling. Can we capture that drive more often?
Lois and Clark Season 5 FTW!
Very cool, I used to enjoy watching Dean Cain as Superman. Its nice to see that he's a regular, humble guy.
It's just such a joy to see a new CDP drop. You just keep getting better and your guests are 🔥
Broooo you are awesome I used to watch Lois & Clark in the 90s as a kid
I grew up watching Lois and Clark. Started “following” him on socials after I watched supergirl where he played a small role in. Was so glad to see him awake and aware of all the bs going on.
Dean Cain is a cool headed alpha for sure. I dug Lois and Clark back in the day. Thanks for the great podcasts Clifton.
Two educated polite gentlemen. Thanks for this awesome episode.
“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” ― Carl Gustav Jung Cheers.
These last few interviews are quite interesting. Keep it up
Grrat interview Clifton!! After watching this, I truly realize why Dean Cain is Superman.
God bless you two! Gosnell, powerful movie!!! Clifton, I'm praying for you. Read G.K. Chesterton's Orthodoxy, or C. S. Lewis' Surprised By Joy. They did a short movie on Lewis a year or 2 ago. It was good.

Excellent interview, Mr. Duncan!
You've been on fire with these guests.
Highly Articulate men 👏 my views align 100%. Keep fighting for Truth, Justice, and the American way 🙏 💪 ~ An American Woman
dean was a great superman, loved his his show growing up
Great seeing Dean Cain - thanks for the podcast
Excited again for another great video!! Love ya work Clifton
my favorite Superman
Keep up the good work Mr. Duncan
Mr. Dean Cain walked away from playing a superhero to become a REAL superhero. These two really are something special.
Looks good so far. Dean Cain is probably one of the more wholesome celebrities I can think of. He's no RazorFist, but still a great guest to have on.
Thanks, Clifton & Dean!
I love his perspective on the value and the rewards of being a father. I hear so many younger people who drag parenthood, and I think they are missing out on a/the key human experience.
Not sure who's got the best interview now, you or The Drinker. It's all awesome though..
Brilliant stuff Clifton and Dean!
I enjoyed this. Thank you Clifton.
Wealth and fame, on their own, without principles you can stand for, are paper thin. They are highly overrated. Great interview, Mr. Duncan. Saw you one Klavan a few months ago, and glad to watch your thoughts, sir. Liked and subscribed. Gracias.
Great chat, Clifton. What a coup. Dean Cain! He was such an apt casting choice for Superman and he's super based. 🙏🙏🗽🗽🦅🦅🧠🧠
Great channel!
Awesome interview.
great vid both of you
Epic 1 of my favorite heroes going up is a Gamer Epic stuff .
What a great conversation. Thanks Clifton & Dean.
Met Dean Cain at a Con years ago. Super nice guy (pun not intended)
Man, you've been interviewing some incredible people. Dean Cain is not one I'm familiar. What impressed me about him is his versatility via his various accomplishments. Sadly, I thought, his embodiment of talent and values seems too good to be true in today's world. I believe the zeitgeist of today seeks to smother individual success due to the inhospitable landscape we've created.
Another great podcast Clifton...i really enjoyed it
Great choice of guest, as usual. Thanks
I never saw much of Mr. Cain growing up, but now I clearly need to correct this. As to the question of how you get the artists and tradesmen to meet and ally, I think the common ground is Craftsmanship. Anyone and everyone can be enthralled by seeing a professional (or someone competent at least) in their element. Tradesmen have a leg up on what could be called 'credibility' because they are making something physical. That house, this mug, etc. wouldn't exist if not for someone's effort. Something like a film, a musical, or an album I would compare to a road, or a cruise ship. It's the product of dozens, hundreds of people jointly and disparately working to an end. It's too big for most to relate to. That's why I feel leading performers, directors, et all get the spotlight. Easier for the majority to focus on. I'm sure this is not a new thought at all in Entertainment. All that in mind, I still am not sure how to precisely define the hurdles in the way of reaching that common ground of Craftsmanship. Lord knows, I've never watched a "making of" documentary of any film or the like. Maybe I should. Any recommendations?
Good Afternoon Mr. Duncan, I made a comment a while ago that you should move your ad to the middle of the podcast as I would skip it if it was early in the podcast. I have been watching the ad now without skipping, as the effort of removing my phone from my pocket is not worth the small amount of time. Kindly return the ad to the front of the podcast again. There is clearly no pleasing me. Except for the coffee recommendation, I have enjoyed it. Your Viewer, Andrew
Dean I’m proud to be “woke!” Being conscious of racial inequality is a good thing! Going on Fox telling their viewers that you’re leaving Hollywood bc of the “woke” is quite sad! Ask your interviewer!👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Wait, I totally missed where he spoke about Lois and Clark.
Great interview! What Dean said about 'othering' people is something very important to keep in mind, both when the so called progressives are doing, but also we ourselves when we start dismissing them as 'woke' or any other label. People are individuals, not labels, not pieces of a group. That 'woke idiot' is just a misguided person, much like you invariably were at some point or another. The only way to get past this cultural divide is by reaching out, engaging and having the difficult conversations 1-on-1 in our daily lives.
Great interview!!! Dean shows what a person is like who has God and honor in their life !!! Your wrong if you don't follow like sheep !!! They want you dumb and uninformed.

I mean... these days DeNiro is kind of sleepwalking through parts, so maybe not a great choice but I know what you mean. But as for arts and crafts, blue collar and artsy types... there are a ton of blue collar types working on films building sets etc.
