I just received my Dyad Pro today, after initially buying a Tenico S5 Extreme last week. I cleaned some significant floor area with the Tenico late last week, but found myself feeling nagged about better edge cleaning, multiple rollers & automatic drying after the auto-clean phase. Watching reviews is one thing, but sometimes you just have to buy several toys and test them for yourself to determine which is best for your needs, so that's what I did! As a test, I decided to re-mop the same floor areas with the Dyad Pro as I had with the Tenico. I live alone with a yellow lab and we don't use that part of the house much, so no reason for the floor to get dirtier in 3 days. I did this using warm water with NO detergent, just as with the Tenico. My intent was to see if the Dyad would be able to clean the same pre-cleaned floors even better (the floors looked VERY clean!). After 30 minutes, the results were in, with surprises! The dirty water tank had black water in it, but had only filled the tank about 1.5 inches. The fresh water was still 2/3 full, and the battery was at 75%! I then took the mop to the docking station & started a deep cleaning cycle. Once that was complete, I used my phone to initiate a fast-drying cycle. When the drying was about to complete, I removed the mop from the base, and felt the roller brushes, and the base, where the air comes out to dry the roller brushes. Ambient temp in my house was about 72F at the time. When I checked the roller brushes, they were very dry and felt a bit warm, as did the docking station, by the exit holes. I'm thinking Roborock doesn't want the element to get any warmer due to safety issues and mandatory certifications like Underwriters Laboratories (UL). Most retailers won't touch ANYTHING electrical that isn't UL-Listed, which would tank their sales in the US and Canada. So far I'm very happy with the cleaning. The heavier cleaning-head i belive helps make the cleaning brushes work better, and the edge-cleaning has made it so I'll only have to use a sponge in a few odd areas. I covered more area with the Dyad than the Tenico, and in less time with plenty of battery, water & dirty tank space to keep going!

Love the review. I just got one as a surprise birthday gift and love it. Thanks for being so diligent in the details. I live in a very humid climate so it's nice to at least know ahead of time I might need to remove the rollers and dry in sun to prevent mold growth. I love the vacuum and my only complaint is I have old kitchen cabinets that are so low that the Roborock can not get below the edge of my base cabinets. Everything else is perfect.

Does he new model have the same issue(and mess)? Thanx.

I just want to add that my experience with the drying mimics JuiceStyles. I used an infrared thermometer and read around 85 to 98 degrees, depending where I pointed it. My rollers were dry in 3 hours with balanced mode and silent drying. I live in the high desert in CA, USA so it can be very dry here, 10% or less isn't uncommon. I am wondering if we have two problems going on here. Possibly a bad run of the heater elements and/or it's just not hot enough to overcome areas where the humidity is very high. When I did this test the humidity was 30% (high for us) and ambient temp was 78 degrees. I ran the tests 3 times. Maybe the question should be "do you live in a region that has very high humidity"?

Hey buddy, just got my dyad pro in today. I ordered it after watching your review, and thought all the pros outweigh the con of not having heated drying. Well... I've used the unit to clean two rooms so far and have had it sitting on the silent dry for 3 hours now. While the rollers were not completely dry, I did notice something surprising. The dock was warm to the touch! I used a handheld infrared thermometer to check it out. It was about 90F at the rollers and around 100F further back toward the center of the base. My ambient air temp is 78F. So there's definitely some sort of heated drying going on here. I'm not sure if you just happened to get two defective docks, or if they sent you back the same unit you sent back. But I can say that I'm pleasantly surprised that it does use heat to dry, not a huge amount but it's something. I've bumped the silent dry timer up to 5hrs hopefully that's the sweet spot.

  • @RawansReviews

    @RawansReviews

Thanks a lot for your comment. That’s a bit reassuring to know that yours does have somewhat heated drying (though perplexed as to how I could receive 2 defective units…that’s then another story about their quality control, if true). Did you clock the temperature while the Dyad was docked? Let me know where exactly you pointed your thermometer, I’ll try to replicate and see what I get. Btw-I did post this on Reddit asking owners to help out and verify if they’re getting heated drying or not-let’s see what we come up with. Out of curiosity, what country did you buy it in?

@@RawansReviews Purchased in the US. I removed the dyad from the dock and took the temps immediately after. I believe the heat is generated from a device inside the part of the dock that points upward, as it was hottest there.

  • @RawansReviews

You mean the line of holes on the 2nd part of the base? That’s the air channels I believe. If you look behind where you dock the Dyad, there’s a fan on the outside. In theory the heating element should be there, with the fan blowing air through the heating element and channeling it to base. But who knows. Thanks for the confirmation anyway. I’ll try to investigate further, see if anyone else can corroborate your experience (or mine), or maybe if I can get ahold of someone in Roborock to comment. Cheers!

@@RawansReviews the part of the dock where the fan is, although on the opposite side, is where I measured the hottest temp at around 100F. The little holes where the air comes out was a lower temp at 90F, but I guess that would be expected as the air has to travel from the heat source to the vent holes.

25 watts means it does have a heating element, so they are not exactly wrong. A fan for that much airflow is like 3-4 watts of power, so they are doing some heating with that power, what was your ambient air temp?

I really thought (and hoped) I had a defective unit, but when the second one did not work either, I figured one can be a coincidence, but two's unlikely..If you have the chance, would greatly appreciate if you could help me figure this out. Best would be with a thermometer to see exactly what temp you're getting, but I totally get chances are you don't have a thermometer lying around. In that case, maybe simply touching the brush after some time drying, or putting your finger near the air outlet, and just confirm that indeed you feel hot air/a hot brush? Glad to hear it was of help! Officially brands usually recommend you only use their "official" detergent, I'd say that's mostly because they want you buying from them. Personally, I would say any detergent from any wet/dry vacuum brand should in theory have very little risk. A little more risk would be using any normal floor detergent. Could still work, but can't tell for sure it won't cause problems in the long run. If you go down that route though, I would try to use non-foaming detergent.

Thank you for your review. I almost made my purchase, which is a bit of an investment. BC of the misrepresented the heating feature I will not be purchasing. Thanks again!

I'm happy I was of help. It's still a great machine, but it is indeed a big investment, so if this particular feature is important for someone, I'd rather they're aware upfront and decide what they want to do accordingly. Cheers!

I've never understood the need for a filter in the dirty water tank, I removed mine on the first dyad model just empty it in your toilet with all the water and debris at the same time

Well, depends on the size of the solids in your water. They can be bigger than some people are comfortable dumping down the toilet. But also depends where you live too. In some areas/countries, you can't even throw toilet paper down the toilet or you might clog it. So the filter could come in handy for some!

@@RawansReviews bigger than a dung ? 🤣 I wonder how you could vacuum something bigger with your cleaner as for it risking to clog it, if your toilet can handle a dung it can handle anything your cleaner will vacuum

Haha. Well, dungs disintegrate. But some things should not be flushed down a toilet. It’s not only about size ;) Google non-flushable items, you’d be surprised!

A filter is always best to have to dump solids in the trash. I’m getting rid of my Dreametech H12 Pro for this same reason.

Pretty rubbish of roborock to advertise it as hot drying and then burying their head in the sand. Great job on calling them out on it

Dude you went 2 hours on and on and on and on about drying. That also was not enough... you even harassed Roborock :) But nooo.... that is not enough either... There comes temp probes! It is a vacmop. You do your job, leave it in its cradle... next time you pick it up it is dry! The purpose is to stop mold growth. Same with my Smartmi VortexVave Robot as well. I disconnected those effing fan connectors :) After I am done, I clean the brushes myself and let good ol' sun do the rest for me! Thanks for the review, regardless!

Omg! Just when I thought that was it... There comes watt-a-meter! You are obsessed! Let the sun do it. No noise, no power consumption, done in 20 mins!

I'm not sure why you saw that as "harassing" Roborock, instead of me doing my due diligence and giving them the opportunity to comment before publicly saying anything inaccurate? As for the probes--well, would you also rather I simply rely on my subjective senses to say "it's not hot air!", or back that up with actual temperature measurements? I get your point in that you leave it in the cradle, next time you pick it up, it's dry (though I'd argue it's also fair not wanting to wait 5-6 hours for that)--but that's not the point. The point is when you advertise a feature, you can't blatantly lie about it. I would have had no issue if this was not explicitly advertised as "hot air" drying. For some people, the availability of hot air drying could be one of their decisive factors in choosing this wet/dry vac over others. Not everyone is blessed to live in an area with sun for air drying. Either way, my role here is to review a product. Part of that is being thorough in testing it, and making sure it lives up to the claims the company makes about it. In this case, Roborock, unfortunately, didn't. It's only fair that people watching my review know that. Then it's up to them to decide if this is important enough to change their purchase decision or not. Cheers!

@@RawansReviews It IS NOT AN IMPORTANT FEATURE IN A MOP! If anyone deems it important, they have a screw loose. If you need to pick it up in 5 hours, you can pick it up and do your job. It does not matter if it is dry or not, it will get wet when you run it anyway. Mold takes hold after a week. The whole purpose of air drying is not to have a wet brush sitting long periods of time to prevent mold and mildew growth. You don't need to have sun either. You can just leave it in front of the A/C, fan, radiator, or whatever is going on in your house and it would dry by itself overnight. "Harassing" was not meant literally! But you have my respects for dwelling on such a trvial matter for so freaking long!
