Chameleons also change color when they see a predator. I worked at a pet store and whenever a chameloen spotted a snake it changed it's color quickly. Perhaps it makes them look more intimidating as they puff up too.

Yes actually chameleons do change their colour as camouflage, but more commonly in social signalling and in reactions to temperature and other conditions. This varies between species.

As a plumber I have had to lay down and work in colonies of spiders over a hundred spiders strong. I've also had a multitude of tarantulas crawling over me while camping during migration season. Never even bothered me a bit. But I can't imagine how horrifying this video was for people who are afraid of spiders. It even made me feel a little uncomfortable.

Back in my infantry days I somehow managed to find spider nests any bush that I was taking cover in or sitting ambush. It would take every ounce of will power to not jump up screaming like a kid. Still have nightmares about those spiders

When I was in high school ('81-'85), I had a job at my church that included sweeping up after weddings. When I started the job, I swept the rice so that no one would slip and fall on it. Everyone threw rice. Then people eventually started referring to the exploding pigeons thing and a few critics started telling me to be more thorough in my sweeping so pigeons wouldn't explode. That's when some people started throwing seed instead of rice at weddings. By '85, no one was throwing rice, and everyone was throwing seed. The total transition from rice to seed happened pretty quickly. Bad information spread quickly even before the internet.

A statement doesn't have to be true to be factual. First definition for fact is "A thing that is known to be true or proven". These are all statements that people claim to know are true, they're just wrong, as you are in claiming that facts are never false. Though at least in your case, there are contexts where you're correct, like when talking about the facts of a court case.

All other statements are just statements, sometimes falsehoods if they are known to be false. So it short - Anybody can make any statement. A statement can be true, false or status unknown. If a statement is true - it's called a fact. Therefore there can be no "false facts" because by definition a fact is something that is true.

Rabbits tend to like carrots as they have significant sugar content for veggie side, and rabbits have a sweet tooth. This actually increases why you should limit carrots for bunnies as too much sugar is very bad for them, too. Give them the leafy greens, and probably some pellets, and a piece of banana or strawberry for a quick sweet treat. Bunny will love it.

Leafy greens (including carrot leaves) a the best for rabbits but it’s important to also give them hard vegetables like carrots, turnip and swede or an apple because like all rodents their front teeth continually grow and need wearing down. Always make it an option in their diet, they’ll know when they need it. Just don’t feed them celery (it gives them diarrhoea).

@@danielriley7380 Rabbits are not rodents, they're lagomorphs. Their diet should be mostly hay, with leafy greens. The vegetables and fruits you listed as "hard" are not in fact hard for a rabbit and that much starch can cause them to have diarrhea or go into stasis.

there were 4 Robins before Damian. Stephanie Brown may have only had a very brief comic run as Robin before she was fired and returned to being Spoiler and later became Batgirl, but she is still canonically a former Robin in the comicverse.

I knew a little about the effects of explosions because I wanted to learn more about the Home Front as a child (WW2, UK). Sometimes people were found deceased after a nearby bomb but with no physical marks or damage on them and they just looked incredibly peaceful. It was how the bombs sucked all the air out affected the human body. That and the "Sandwich Shelters" always stayed in my mind. What a brilliant video though again, never knew what direction it would take next 😊

Here's another fun fact about senses. Despite what you might think, you can't actually feel moisture. If you touch something moist, you feel the difference in texture and temperature, and certain combinations of this are interpreted by your brain as wet. That's why, when you wear rubber gloves and put them in water, it feels like your hand is wet, even though it isn't. Certain animals, such as some spiders, however, do have specific receptors that let them actually detect moisture.

I don't know about the milk thing. I've drank milk since forever, gotten hurt plenty, never broke a bone, even when I should've. Even suffered a fall hitting around my eye-socket, and the doctor I saw was surprised I didn't break or fracture something. I even healed up in a less than a week, just the blood vessels in my eye took longer.

It isn't just milk producers that extolled milk; it was the United States government. From the USDA with its Food Guide Pyramid that had "Dairy" as a separate category, to it being part of WIC (low income food program), in the form of cheese. Of course, the Food Guide Pyramid was heavily influenced by lobbies in general, which is why carbohydrates were at the bottom rather than vegetables. They were encouraged to do so by the wheat lobby.

The USDA, FDA, and all the lobbyists and their subsidies is just a corrupt mess. The Mediterranean diet (minus dairy and without red meat) has been known to be the superior diet for human health for decades yet people out there actually believe you HAVE to have dairy, meat, and bread or you will just die. I used to have a regular American diet until the age of 34 when I developed colon cancer and had high blood pressure as well to compound the issue (I survived thankfully). I would eat your regular breakfast of bacon, eggs, and toast with a glass of milk. For lunch I would generally eat fast food or a sandwich I packed at home consisting of white bread, processed meats/cheese, and mayo with a side of greasy potato chips. For dinner I would usually eat pasta, pizza, or a frozen dinner. Switched to a diet consisting of 90% unblemished foods such as unsalted almonds, fresh fruit, vegetables, seeds, occasional fish, occasional eggs, beans, lentils, and an occasional piece or two of dark chocolate if I feel like sweets. I pretty much only drink water other than the occasional glass of wine before bed. Completely quit fast food and processed foods other than dark chocolate. After my health scare I gave away literally everything bad for me in my fridge/freezer and pantry to people in need and despite it being much more work to cook meals now and missing fatty red meat when I see others eating it I have stood strong for over 19 years now. My brother has been trying to convince me to "live a little" by offering me McDonald's a few times, delivery pizza a dozen+ times, as well as BBQ at 6-7 of his cookouts and his fried catfish as well but I've stayed strong. The only time I almost gave in was when he made filet mignons and lobster tails soaked in butter during the superbowl 3 years back, I had some but I knew that if I screwed up once I'd do it again. I just don't want to die yet, I have two children and a grandchild and they mean more to me than taking the easy route and gorging on junk food all the time. Ate about 1000 Big Mac's in my life so I think I've had more than enough as it is.

I think it was a mythbusters episode that explained the slow explosion walk. Its all about perspective. The actors are actually a safe distance from the explosion, but the angle of the camera along with some editing makes it look closer than it is.

Interesting note on the Pigeon Puffs; In the early 1900s, one of the species of finches on a Galápagos Islands seems to be forming into two new species - the average beak length did not form a neat Bell curve graph as is often seen, but had two separate peaks, showing that two beak lengths were becoming apparent and this could mean the single group was likely to split into two if other factors came into play. An interesting point on the Frankenstein thing. Lots of people like to make the statement "Knowledge is knowing that Frankenstein was the name of the scientist, not the monster. Wisdom is knowing that Frankenstein actually was the real monster all along..." The problem with that being, if Shelly's intent was to write a story with a message of "often, humans are the real monsters," then by modern standards of behavior, she failed. Hard. True, the creature is a hell of a lot more civilized and articulated than his popular modern depictions would have you believe, but if you actually read the original book, and actually *stop to think about* some of the crap he pulled, you quickly realize that the creature was *at least* just as monstrous as his creator was.

Seeing as Wolverine has the ability to super heal, I'd think he could survive a fairly nearby explosion

Polite correction, Christians do believe that Jesus is God. He is the second person of the Holy Trinity which is one God in three divine persons, one what in three whos (Certainly one of the more difficult Christian teachings to understand)

Because God must have existed before Jesus in order for Jesus to be his son. Which would mean that God is a separate person, one capable of having kids (I mean "begetting" kids, if we want to keep it biblical.)

Now I’m aware there are many people that do not believe Christ is anything more than a teacher, prophet, and rabbi. That he was just a man. But there are many others that believe he is more. That He is God’s Son. The Trinity can be hard to explain, but basically it’s 1 God but 3 persons. 3 parts to God if you will. Jesus is God’s Son. Part of the Godhead. Therefore Deity. I was looking for a comment about this before posting...If Jesus isn't God then he wasted all that effort coming to Earth in a human body to die for our sins. If he isn't God then why go to all the trouble to impregnate Mary immaculately? My bible says he is the Word. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God , and the Word was God and there was not anything made that was not made by him. When he speaks in the New Testament he angers the Sadducees because he speaks with authority - it comes from the Creator because he just said it "Verily, verily I say unto you" means just that.

From the account's I've read I think they are most often followers of Judaism. The definition of Christian is someone who believes Jesus is the Messiah prophesized in the Tanakh (Hebrew/Jewish Bible pretty much the same texts as the Old Testament in the Christian Bible but in a different order) and those prophesies identify the Messiah as God. So yes Christians believe Jesus is God. Note: the new Testament is the records of Jesus and his Disciples which includes claims by Jesus of being God.

Rabbits like carrots as a treat. Like a child likes candy. Our Rabbit loved carrots, but it's not healthy to feed to many to them

On the subject of eating spiders in my sleep. I have sleep apnea, so I use a CPAP machine. The spiders would have to remove the filter inside the machine, traverse the turbine blades, stay out of the water in the humidifier, to make it to the tube hooked to my mask, in order to get me to swallow them. If a spider did that, they would be much more inclined to just bite me, and kill me, not be a midnight snack...

I’m more into the (un)holy trinity 😈 🤷🏻‍♂️ in all actuality, I don’t believe in the church, I just use the imagery as a form of protest. You can believe whatever you want that’s fine and dandy, but established churches are nothing more than a cash grabbing machine. Their real god is money. So I’d course you have emotionally weak people that seek their guidance, but teach them totally obscured teachings. Therefore I strongly dislike the church. Your god is fine, any god is fine, but faith and spirituality should be personal. It’s between you and your god. Not a middleman swindling in between the two (or more) of you. Just my two cents 😅

Did not Jesus himself overturn the tables of the money changers in the temple? Yes, spirituality should be personal - I myself went off a few years on a tangent reading about the annunaki and how they created humans until I dug deeper into the only instruction manual for this world and how all the biblical prophesies are pointing to the days we are living as the last days of this realm. I think we all deserve to return to the God we worship when we die, just make sure the God you worship is the Creator. Only when Jesus returns and judges us all will we discover our eternal fate. The milk study really surprised me. I drank almost only milk in my childhood and teen years. Even now (62) I drink quite a lot of milk. And my bones are exceptionally stable. I did martial arts all my life and wanted to be a stuntman when I was 15 (so you can imagine I did some crazy things, like leaping from one tree to the other or jump from the roof of our house). And I never, despite several hard falls I never broke anything. Does that mean I doubt the study? No, of course not. Anecdotal evidence is no evidence. But I was surprised. No. It's not actually true for you or me. It's only true for those people involved in the study. Milk actually affects people from different origin populations differently. If your genetics is primarily from an ancestral population that drank milk to get the necessary nutrients to survive, they evolved the ability to properly digest Milk and absorb the nutrients, including Calcium and Vitamin D. Just because less than 100,000 total people studied bodies didn't respond well to Milk consumption doesn't mean everybody's body will respond that way. Yours didn't, mine didn't and our ancestors didn't either. It's why there are Lactose intolerant people, they derived from ancestral populations that didn't habitually drink milk as adults, so never evolved the capacity.

Being physically active strengthens bones. Weight lifting is the best way to strengthen your bones.

Staying away from the base of tall buildings is probably still not a bad idea, given that some people choose those to end it all off of, and you don't want to be what they land on

I'm not sure you can rule out ninjas wearing that sort of garb at times. Probably not exactly that, but while a ninja in daytime or at a party would likely dress like everyone else, a ninja trying to infiltrate a location in the middle of the night where shadows are far more common than lit areas, dark garb, especially dark clothes that can be quickly removed and discarded when/if it becomes more useful to play a random person, would be extremely useful.

Oh man these other replies know very little about spiders, don't they? They have a better chance outside because, barring having some kind of infestation in your home, they have more available food. The fact that they may get eaten by another animal isn't a good argument, either. That's how nature works. Does the animal that eats the spider not have as much right to eat as the spider does? Like, yeah, spiders are cool, keep em as pets if you want, but don't try to say you're screwing over house spiders by removing them from your house. That's the kind of thing I'd expect to hear from PETA idiots.

Most people believe the "fact" that dogs (and their canid cousins such as wolves) are unable to see color. However, this is not true. In reality, dogs are able to see a spectrum of color that runs from blacks and grays, then brownish yellows through true yellow and white before moving on to muted blues and finally into grayish blues that have an almost-purple look to our (human) eyes. This is called dichromatic vision, and while (in a human) it would be considered a form of colorblindness, in dogs it obviously isn't. They DO have trouble separating with things that are red, orange, or green, but thankfully their other senses (especially smell) really help make up for any deficits there.

Actually yeah. There aren't very many species of spiders that eat bedbugs. Take it from someone who's dealt with bedbugs in the past, they're SUPER tiny. They don't fly so they don't really get caught in webs, and they're too small to be worth the effort to most hunting spiders (jumping spiders, wolf spiders etc.).

Adding to this: The same guy who came up with the idea of the 'alpha' tried to correct this misconception later, after having observed wolves in the wild himself, but by then the concept was so widespread that almost no-one wanted to listen. Most humans are actually lactose intolerant as adults (not as much as cats though). We just weren't designed to drink it from cows. Its not dangerous though as far as i'm aware as long as it is drunk in sensible amounts and it does make cereal taste better 😋

It's like saying "Its a myth that limes prevent scurvy because modern humans never get scurvy and they eat every fruit other than limes" where historically limes were used to prevent scurvy in sailors because they were the ONLY fruit they ate. Like all the best made up stories there is a grain of truth to the myth. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene which is used to make vitamin A in the human body and a deficiency in vitamin A does cause poor eye sight. The cover for radar is true and in wartime UK it was used by the Ministry of Food to encourage the home growing of carrots as they could be used as a sugar substitute as well as a veg, which will give you an idea how bad things were in the UK during rationing.

I drink 3 gallons of milk a week. I've never broken a bone at 34 years old and that's not due to risk aversion as I played sports growing up, including American football. I've done and still do a lot of demanding physical labor. It's just anecdotal and I'm not claiming the milk is the reason for my unbreakable bones, but I do find it difficult to believe that it increases the likelihood of bone issues.

Dairy products have around a 30% calcium bioavailability as opposed to leafy greens which have around 50% calcium bioavailability. Our bodies find it easier to use the calcium in veggies, but that doesn't mean that the calcium in milk isn't useful to us. Traditionally, it has been easier to get kids to drink their milk than it is to get them to eat their broccoli. Or spinach for that matter, without the help of Popeye cartoons.

I discovered you can’t see the Great Wall of China even from an aircraft flying at 30,000+ feet. I was disappointed.

When I lived in a city where people shot guns into the air on New Year's Eve, there was a legend (which made no sense to me, see the penny myth) that a bullet would have the same speed coming down as it has going up. I couldn't convince people that it was propelled up by gunpowder, but came down strictly by gravity.

This "legend" would be true if it weren't for air resistance on the way down. People tend to forget about that because it gets ignored in high school math/physics problems for simplicity's sake. Since a bullet is a lot more aerodynamic than a penny, I would think its speed at the bottom of its arc would still be significant.

Here's another fact that isn't false, I just googled about the milk part and actually it's true, milk actually does strengthen your bones.

"It happened one night" was the first movie to win the big five Oscars, it is indeed a masterpiece, and many more romantic comedies were influenced by its success. Sad that such a brilliant work is largely forgotten.

With ninja, I had heard the same about the outfit from noh theater but also originating from bunraku theater where the puppeteers worse similar clothing and were designed to be ignored. During the occasional infiltration mission as ninja were more spies than assassins, they would wear clothing to conceal their identities but it was most likely a navy blue and not look like a stage hand, as the outline of a solid black outfit would stand out in all but the darkest of areas. For future reference, most Christians like me believe in the Trinity (God the Son, God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit) which states that, yes Jesus on earth was fully man and FULLY GOD. He was God in a mortal shell in layman's terms. He was with God as the Word when existence was created, and is the Son of God for this reason, and he sits on the right hand of God in Heaven! I couldn't disagree on any other thing on the video until he got to the part were he clamed that Jesus is not the God of Christianity which I had to disagree and suddenly feel like I didn't want to continue watching, but like what you said, maybe he didn't know....

In Christianity, the Holy Trinity is God in 3 persons. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. So we know Jesus Christ as both the Son of God and God in the flesh.

1) Ninjas often used the night to their advantage and used those black garments to hide in the darkness. 2) Jesus is part of the godhead of Christianity.

The funny thing with milk is that its drinking was encouraged, at least amongst people who continued to drink it after weaning, isn't because of the calcium. It was because of the fat and easily digestible protein content in it. It also works well it other foods to help meet many of the macro nutrient needs of a person, so the observation that people, especially children, WERE healthier and less prone to injury was made. It was later that the calcium content was emphasized. And it should be kept in mind that this benefit only applies so long as you continue drinking milk so that your body continues to produce lactase, the enzyme that breaks down lactose. Something the body begins to reduce and stop doing after weaning, and why the older a person gets, the less lactose tolerant they become. It is also why lactose intolerance is common among many populations aside from Westerners and Central Asian peoples (and Mongolians) or Middle Easterners, populations where dairy consumption was common for the simple reason that it was a ready and easily accessible source of nutrition and calories.

Not necessarily the case, but as someone who does a bit of model painting, I think that the remnants of paint on the old statues might just be what remains of what we call 'base coats.' The base coat just helps set the stage for the specific colors placed over them. A different base coat can change the effect of the the layers above it. For instance, if you paint a pink base coat and then layer yellow over it, the yellow comes out much more vibrant than over a white base coat. TLDR: the bits of paints we find weren't necessarily the ONLY coat of paint over the statues.

Side note: according to someone who looked into the claim more thoroughly, the 10% of your brain thing came from a neuroscience professor giving a seminar. While explaining the functions of various portions of the brain's regions, he pointed out that only a relatively small portion of the cerebral cortex was dedicated to abstract thought, thus only 10% of the brain was used specifically for thinking.

That's roughly how I always interpreted it, ever since I first heard that myth back in middle school, I believe. I always just assumed that what it meant was that we only consciously used 10% of our brain for things like awareness, memories, etcetera. While the other 90% was for subconscious, and automated operations of the body.

But since God is One, not Three Gods, they are called Consubstantial. So, the Father isn’t the Son isn’t the Spirit, but the Father is God, the Son is God and the Spirit is God.

I was actually a part of the study to find out how many spiders we swallow while we sleep. A scientist watched me and a group of other participants as we slept each night for a year. I only swallowed seven, but the unfortunate guy next to me swallowed nine. It was the average that was used as the quoted statistic.

Really? Did you have flies or other insects in your mouth to entice 7 or even 9 spiders?! I'm 62 and have never swallowed even one. Wonder if anyone in Australia have swallowed one of those giant spiders they keep hanging around? Hahahaha

@@stephenolan5539 Australia also has some pretty big spiders. I found one today in my garden with a leg span about 15cm (6 inch) - My ducks ate it but it was pretty horrible to watch.

I fear spiders crawling into my ear more than sleep swallowing them. Its far more realistic. Balance issues are often related hearing and sight related, recognition of pain and temperature is touch/feel and Proprioception could also be considered touch/feel

The one about Chameleons... there ARE animals who DO change colour (and shape) to blend into the backgrond. Cuttlefish are prett awesome.

I knew that milk didn't strengthen bones, but from personal experience. When I was 4, i broke my arm. I didn't want that to happen again, so I started drinking ridiculous amounts of milk daily, much to my Mom's annoyance. Fast forward to my adult life, I've had more broken bones than most professional athletes. Obviously, the milk didn't help, if anything, it made it worse.
