My grandad owen conlon lived here around 1950's

brillant vid, parents, gran parents and great gran parents all lived in the lonely. spent my early days in Baker street am even in the photo of the baker street clan with a number of my family. such memories

I had happy days in those streets.

back in the late 19th century the British army kept their horses in a pound which would have been behind where St Comgalls school is now... loney from the Irish word lonán meaning pathway or lane

My late mother, who was born n bred in Sailortown often talked about a fella she 'courted' briefly in the '60s from the Cullingtree Rd called Paddy Dorrian. She was a mod back n the day and so was he. She didnt go out on a second date 'cause she said she had nothing new to wear and she was embarrassed 😊. Why was it called the pound loney?

I wish they wer a we bit clearer some of the fotos r a bit dark good old days 😢
