Jim Carrey suffered, so Walton only had to be uncomfortable. The technology for sfx makeup has come a long way trying to compete with CGI in terms of time and cost. Walking dead is proof of that.

It didn't take that short a time at first. Walton has said that the first session in the makeup chair was almost six hours as they figured out how the design was going to look and how the pieces were going to be applied. Then as time went on they got it down to a point where they had castings for each piece and a set makeup design. It's still faster than how they used to do it in the past but the video we're seeing was filmed after they'd done all the initial tests and workup.

Honestly, hands down, my favourite character from the show. Walton really did something special with him. I'm always in awe of actors/actresses who sit in these make-up chairs for hours and hours, getting prosthetics applied that can make you feel seriously claustrophobic but make you look absolutely otherworldly. I have to say, as a viewer and someone who appreciates the VFX industry, the finished looks always blow my mind. The Ghoul was brought to life by the skilled acting of Walton and the skilled hands of the VFX team, and without one or the other, it would not have been The Ghoul.

I have heard stories from other actors recount prosthetics and effects makeup as a horror story so I always enjoy hearing about instances like this where it was fun and enjoyable for the most part and talking about the wonderfully skilled artists that help it become a reality. A similar story is hearing Danny DeVito talk about becoming Oswald Cobblepot in Batman Returns and how much fun that was.

It was worth all the time and anxiety. Ghoul is the most captivating, fascinating and iconic character in a film. Ghoul is for the win. And it got me to recognize you as an actor and then I remembered you from The Hateful Eight. You were perfect as Ghoul in every way. And you carried that series on your capable shoulders. Ghoul is a 100% charismatic individual. The viewers cannot take their eyes off him in every scene. Ghoul is a scene stealer. Now I want too rewatch The Hateful 8 and Fallout. And high anticipation for Season 2 of Fallout, where you will have to endure the same process all over again. (Sorry about that, but this is your own fault for creating Ghoul so well.)
