7 years later, still helps with me being able to aim at people correctly now

For anyone trying this fix having issues still, make sure you save after you edit every file, and if it says “it is read only” just right click, select properties, and at the bottom you can tick off the read only box, apply, and boom, you can now edit any of those files

fallout_defalut.ini you just have file extention turned off

+Fruitbobsensation ok, my system is WIN8, ill guid you all the way through, WIN7 would be the same. You go to "My computer", go to "Documents\my games\Fallout3", there are four files(run games once, start one new story and quit), go to FALLOUT.INI, if you can´t open it, right click, "open with" word pad Open the file, scroll all the way down until you find "[Display]", simply add "iPresentInterval=0" to the end mine is like: [Display] fDecalLifetime=10.0000 bEquippedTorchesCastShadows=0 .............. bHighQuality20Lighting=0 bDoTexturePass=1 iPresentInterval=0 there you go

You should really consider getting N++. You can search for that stuff without mucking about.

6 years later and still helps

If the file keeps resetting to "read-only" even after changing permissions download "notepad++" once you have it right click the file again and you should see the option "exit with notepad++" and then from there same steps as in this video, it will override the normal file.

Just to let you know, this did absolutely nothing to fix the bug

So I use Mod Organizer 2, and this fix helped only when launching from Steam. But when I go to launch from Mod Organizer, all of a sudden, MA is turned back on, and i have no idea what to do about it

When I go to my game directory the text snippet isn't there so I insert it and when it comes to saving I get a message saying "Access Denied" however I added the text into all the other files and it still worked, noticeably smoother and 0 acceleration, thanks!

yes but alt tabbing makes the mouse accelerated again. Whoever thought of this deserves a nice spot in dante's inferno

I just edited the line that says *bBackground Mouse=0* to *bBackground Mouse=1* and it worked fine.

In my Fallout_default.ini file I only see: [Controls] bAlwaysRunByDefault=1 bBackground Mouse=0 bBackground Keyboard=1 I am trying to play with a few mods that help the game run smoother, but there is nothing that fixes the high sensitivity mouse while in menus.

for some reason when i did this it starts crashing every few mins saying "Out of memory!" weird.

i’m assuming this doesn’t work for the pc game pass version of new vegas? i’ve done this about 10 times and the sensitivity is still ridiculous

My mouse bugs all over the screen, its not just mouse acceleration.

doesnt work for me. ive tried saving it and when i launch the game it has no effect. when i go and check the file its reverted the save so fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0 fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0 fForegroundMouseBase=0 fForegroundMouseMult=0 isnt in the note anymore.

my mouse would practically just teleport to the other side of the screen its annoying

Everything seems to work. Once I edit the file and save, I can close it and open it again and the changes are still there. However, when I start the game the accel is still there and when I go back into the ini my changes are no longer there. wtf
