I DID have my brain off the entire series, and STILL noticed so many flaws it was astounding people are defending it, and thats without even mentioning "lore"

1. Nerds create hobby that is fun and interesting. They establish rules that keep the hobby as good as it is. 2. More nerds join in and follow the rules. Hobby experiences its golden age. 3. Newcomer nerds advertise the hobby to their normie friends. Normies enjoy the hobby but don't care as much. 4. Demographics shift and there are more and more normies enjoying the hobby. They attract even more casual audience. 5. Casuals find the hobby fun but demand it to be dumbed down and rules to be relaxed so they can enjoy it. 6. Corporates take interest in the hobby and approach nerds. Corporates bribe nerds and take control of the hobby. 7. Corporates dumb down and deregulate the hobby to increase mass appeal. Normies and casuals outnumber nerds. 8. Hobby is no longer recognizable. Many nerds leave in disgust. The audience becomes more and more casual. 9. The creative spark of the hobby dies. It becomes corporate and sterile. Normies lose interest and leave. 10. Hobby slowly dies. Casuals leave because everyone else leaves. 11. Nerds look for ways to create something new. 12. Repeat.

@@georgeray1906 It is not easy. I've seen examples of the communities that've zealously protected their hobby. They encounter another problem - lack of funds. Without some sort of fresh blood the original core of the community slowly erodes. Money also erodes. The original creators can't afford to keep the hobby going and it dies. There must be a balance and it is very hard to achieve.

Honestly, that's what makes the popular reception so strange; if Rings of Power, instead of trying (and failing) to tell a story that seems vaguely Tolkien-esque, was just a goofy action-comedy series, apparently half of the people who hated it for butchering lore, tone, theme, and failing basic writing rules, would have loved it. Because that's the only big difference I see; RoP attempted to feel like Lord of the Rings, like a fan-fiction, while Fallout didn't even try to feel like the games.

​​​Yeah, the logic of the criticism doesn't follow. Maximus turning against his militarised society in the penultimate episode was rooted in individualism, not communism. Lucy quoting Jesus and applying the golden rule to a set piece to change the Ghoul's outlook was also anti-collective and hailed a traditional western value. The haters of this show appear to be hating on it because its early heroes were against communism but it doesn't take a stance on that political ideology - it's there to capture 50s paranoia. @@TheL0ngbeard The show literally tells us that Moldaver and Hank never met one another before the war started. Moldaver only became aware of who Hank was after the mother had arrived at Shady Sands. Also Vault 32 was only inactive for 2 years by the time the show started. It's almost like if you pay attention to what's happening on screen then you'll be able to make sense of what's going on in the story.

This is just a continuation of Bethesda's totally surface level writing. They simply are not creative enough to envision "post post apocalypse" only "post apocalypse". They retcon and destroy vegas and shady sands because those cities are a bastion of humanity developing back into a civilized society. They cannot allow NCR to survive, they must make Mr House an idiot and a full on villian instead of morally grey. This is fallout 4 writing but put into a show made for tourists.

i do agree with some points but house is totally a villain, he seems fair just because being fair facilitates being in power, if he has to anything to keep power he will do it, he tries to be smart about it because his body is a mummy so he cant even escape if someone assaults his tower, the courier can witness him in all his rotting glory, NCR was condemned to fail because of corruption, the legion would fail once caesar dies them their generals would fight between theirselves and none might have the capacity to unify and drive the legion like before, BoS are stuck in cycle of being limited by their own ideologies, search old tech but never recuperate any industrial capacity or political structure to become a real power, the enclave you need to play the first two games to get a picture of them, they are not so simple either and fallout 3 didnt do them justice, this all can play in the theory that humanity doesnt build itself again cause they are awfully mutaded, devoid of any knowledge and experience of the old world, the ghouls became either feral or embraced survivalism of the fittest, and the people theirselves can have their dna extremely degraded from inbreeding, radiation and exposure to biological weapons on the surface, not the mention being plagued by easy acess and nothing holding back drug abuse, be it either pre war drugs or new ones like jet, if house is alive in here i think hes the one who destroyed shady sands cause it was competition to his gambling drug empire, you need to remind how cities were in fallout 1 and 2, controlled by gangsters or police states and there were slavers everywhere rounding up tribals, so some spots of seemingly civilized trade hubs do happen, but everyonelse will them want to pillage it, wich is even the background for the hoover dam, where ncr battled BoS and BoS got crippled, them the legion came and new vegas was in the middle of it all, so id assume house dealt with the legion somehow and also dealt with the ncr, if anything hes not portrayed as stupid if it was him, but as a isolated trade hub that destroyed his larger rivals and in the spirit of new vegas game decisions.

@@thunderspark1536 You were never excused or pardoned for terrible things you've done just for having a maxed out luck stat in any of the Fallout games. That's not what the stat is supposed to do, it's largely meant for calculating how much critical hit chance and damage your character's attacks will have. The only few times it was ever used in dialogue checks was for the player character guessing something incredibly specific, like the "ice cream" password on a robot's security check.

@@superplayerex2431 Exactly, I see people using special stats as a cope to explain maximus lucking out, the special stats only really benefit the player character, it's a gameplay mechanic, same with stimpaks and food fixing gunshot wounds, and many other things, they are GAMEPLAY BENEFITS FOR THE PLAYERS CONVENIENCE, it wouldn't make sense for non-player characters like maximus to benefit, Caesar has 4 int in NV yet commands an army, Oliver swanick has 4 lck in NV yet wins the lottery, these stats are not assigned to characters so that they are a certain way, then also people have explained the dumb things in the show by saying "Oh it's wild wasteland" or "Oh Maximus has idiot savant" Like again these are gameplay features for the player to have more convenience or replayability, This would be like someone dying in the show and exploding like a nuke, and people could explain that away as the "Nuclear anomaly perk", I think whatever happens in the show, people will just say "Oh the series is wacky and has wild wasteland and easter eggs, so that excuses it," Fallout has become a joke in that regard, anything bethesda does will be excused by some people,

5:03 forgot to mention the fact that looking at a nuclear bomb detonating should result in the person instantly going blind

Incels raging everywhere, all Fallout games hitting peak all time player count, the show is awesome. The only thing that could be better is if all the whining incels would just leave.

Just to add to this, the oil base was destroyed in 2241 and fallout 3 took place in 2277, that is a 36-year gap. The Enclave Does NOT recruit non-Enclave, they are without their main base and still weakened in Fallout 3. Black Isle did that, not Bethesda.

Lots of evil white men; lots of "capitalism bad, communism good"; lots of POCs and women saving the day. Story is not a requirement of pushing THE MESSAGE™. There were so many issues in just the first episode, I had trouble deciding if I wanted to keep watching. - Canonically, the bombs dropped at 9:40am Eastern Time. That means that on the Westcoast (where the show takes place) it would have been 6am! That's pretty freakin' early to be having a Birthday party. - Secondly, they are perpetuating the Atomic Blast Thumb myth. Why? That is not now, nor was it ever a real thing. - Lucy's pregnant friend says that her husband Bert was also from Vault 32, right? So how come Bert did not stop and say "hey, wait. Who the hell are you people??" Shouldn't he have noticed that none of the people from his old vault look familiar at all? - Lucy points her Pip-Boy at Monty (that isn't how a Pip-Boy works) and the Geiger counter goes insane. Monty's radiation lvl is damn near at the max! So, I'm expected to believe that while they were all eating, dancing, talking together in the main hall, that no one else's Rad meter ever detected how irradiated these supposed Vault 32 people were?? Is this a new style Pip-Boy that only detects radiation when it is important to the plot? - Next, Once Lucy notices how high Monty's Rads are she exclaims "Raiders!" How. The. Fudge. does Lucy know what a Raider is?? She has never been to the surface. Everything she knows about the surface is what existed before the bombs dropped. The overseer makes it very clear in the scene just prior that they have never been to the surface and likely won't until the next generation of Vault Dwellers. Let's skip ahead a bit shall we? - Never in the history of Fallout has Power Armor EVER had a cool Iron Man style helmet where the face opens and closes. I know Bethesda knows how T60 Power armor works because it's featured in their game soooo what the hell? Don't even get me started on the ridiculous hand thrusters. THIS ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE IRON MAN!!! - Ghouls now need cool magic juice to keep them from turning feral. Since when? Since now apparently. It goes on and on and on. When taken individually, these errors are not that serious but collectively, it's a serious problem.

Might I add that they completely butchered Mr. House's character by turning him into a snake oil salesman who makes false promises of the future for his own gain? New Vegas' Mr. House, though he had his faults, was a visionary who had bright ideas of the future and the technological know-how to make it happen. It's not a surprise that Mr. House's ending is one of the more popular ones I've seen right next to the Yes Man/going your own way ending.

We might have a witcher type situation, dood. People liked the first season well enough despite glaring mistakes and offences, but in season 2 the awful dial got cranked up so much that pretty much everyone finally realized they had been set up. Guess most doods are not learning animals.

I think you're right. I had heard of The Witcher games but hadn't played them. Only watched the show cuz Henry Cavill 😍. Made it thru season 2 and said nope, not gonna bother with the rest of it. I wanted to watch The Witcher, not two women I couldn't care less about girl bossing all over the place. Ciri was annoying and Yennifer was 3x worse. Didn't care about either of them, just Geralt and the bard's adventures.

Theres a difference here , Netflix Witcher writer and show creator openly hate the game and the novels and wanted to create their own story they essentially piggy back the game success to build their own and I believe it's the same universe as it before the game. But Fallout showrunner they like the game and the showrunner and respected it rather than adapt the story or character from the game they made their own so it expand the world. Other than tht I agree with u and let's see if fallout showrunner is a liar or not.

I actually thought about a logical explanation for that. My guess is maybe it's in robot's original programming to help people with missing limbs (Or fingers) first, and after he's done with that, the new program (made by organ harvesters) kicks in. But at this point I'm just thinking of excuses for this show's poor writing. it's pretty much Disney Star Wars all over again. Palpatine exploded at the end of episode 6 - "Somehow, palpatine returned", ship that had Chewbacca on board exploded - it was a different ship, Kylo's Tie fighter blew up - Kylo is completely unharmed, someone got stabbed with a lightsaber - they're fine after a couple of days in bed, Lucy's finger got cut off - kind robot welds a new one for no reason. It's this kind of hack writing where "Hurt/kill a character for shock value then revert that so viewer won't get sad their favourite hero died/became a cripple".

@@RedHairedWarlordBasically if you are at a low level of character and without armor on. The miniguns kill you. You have a better chance with power armor on at higher levels. In fact if the scientist used stolen Enclave Power Armor to escape? Sure it would hit him and damage the power armor but he would survive and eject himself out of the power armor since it did its role in protecting him.

The amount of people I had to argue with about the lore was unreal. It manages to destroy Fallout 1, 2, and NV all at once. Gone, the decades of worldbuilding, set up, no mention of the "Fall" in universe. This show isn't canon. It lacks the good writing and impact necessary to call itself canon. West Coast will always be the better.

@@FoxyFoxlyn What lore you're talking about with Witcher series? Because games were also not faithful to source material (books). It is kind of diminished your arguments, because it turned out that lore is not that important if the product is good. You can "change" the lore, it is not forbidden (Witcher games are great examples of this because they weren't faithful to source material -books - and fans still enjoyed). The Witcher series just got overboard with it is and failed, mostly because even writers admitted that they didn't like the source material. It wasn't because they didn't stick to the lore (games didn't and turned out to be great).

We’ve been subjected to Hollywood slop for so long that when a shiny terd like this comes out people think its a truffle.

They increase the overall quality of the characters, they make funnier jokes, they improve cinematography. So you get the Boys, the Across the Spider-Verse and Fallout. Same with videogames - Baldur Gate's 3 is an example. Audiences eat all of that up.

The show literally expressed in the flashbacks that they never met each other before the war. Moldaver only knew of Hank once Lucy's mom came to Shady Sands. If you actually had some media literacy and paid attention to the show you'll have known that.

I genuinely believe the way New Vegas is portrayed as being desolate is a test, dipping your toe in the water to see if you can get away with saying House failed, retconning every ending except maybe the Reunion but even then it wouldn't line up. @@FredJokamotraye the Yes Man ending will always be canonical in my world, Ulysses sets up the Courier to wear their own symbol at the Second Battle Of Hoover Dam, he himself wears an old world symbol, and is stuck in the past. A huge theme in NV was letting the past go, and beginning again, the independent Vegas symbol is the 21 Blackjack, which is also the symbol seen in the ending slides, I will trust the ending slides over anything Bethesda comes up with. It’s also the most satisfying arc for Courier Six, who is my fav protagonist, I’ve written my Courier’s backstory, etc. That’s what rpg’s are for.

I'm avoiding it because the same people who made Westworld also made that Fallout show, so irrespective if it's good or not, the following seasons will be a bait and switch. The dialogue is also cringe.

My favourite part will always be Lucy telling Max he needs to give that vault their fusion core back but he doesn't want to because he wants to play with his armour. Then after he reluctantly does so she says she wants to date him. This guy was going to knowingly let a vault of overy nice people slowly die because he wanted to play with his toy and is instantly forgiven? Max is proven throughout the show to be a psycho/mental case but no one seems to care

@@thebk247 Oh yes, a lot of plants, and radioactivity would decline by a large amount after the nuclear weapons. Even in the Old Fallout games. Most of the land was tolerable and livable. There were exceptions such as the old bunker that was destroyed by a bunker busting nuke that you had to go inside, but most places outside the vaults were not setting off radiation detectors all the time. The worst in Fallout 4 was the Diner. I mean there was actual junk sitting outside the building that counted a belonging to Trudy as if she didn’t lock it up, but left it sitting in the dirt. Combined with dead bodies nearby and so on.

Yeah, The Brotherhood of Steel were a “lesser evil” compared to the Enclave and had a purpose for the story of the original Fallout with the wasteland. After Fallout 1 they had less purpose remaining as they originally were. Lesser evil isn’t necessarily heroic. In fact, it’s normal for factions in Fallout 1 & 2 to have a bad side, even if you allied with that faction.

I'd also like to ask, why TF they guy from Severance (good show, strongly recommend) is fat in a vault? They have limited resources, and are shown to excersise, which is supposed mandatory. But even withot excersise it would be very hard to get fat on what they eat there, and what are able to grow / have supplies for 200 years.

@@drcabbageface The lack of stakes/consequences, how often the tone & storytelling are undermined for cheap bits, how things change to suit the plot (as in the mech suit that could take down a cement building but couldn't stand up to a bear), and how easily characters stumble upon the exact person they need to meet to move the plot along in the middle of a wasteland.

My brother asked me once we were done watching the show: Would you recommend it to a Fallout fan? Being a fallout fan myself (played 3, New Vegas and 4) I answered: If you're a fallout 3 fan, maybe, cuz the Brotherhood of Steel looks nothing to the one in 3, but the soundtrack will make you feel good. If you're a fallout 4 fan, then go ahead, because that seems to be the only game the writers know the story of. If you're a Fallout New Vegas fan, then fuck no as this show destroys everything you know about the game's story.

Worst of all is that this was introduced ENTIRELY because they needed some way to prevent you from completely steamrolling the game with the suit of Power Armor they give you super early on in Concord. Instead of, you know, just having some restraint and not giving you the Power Armor so easily. But then again that section was in the demo, so they wanted something to "wow" the journos with, I suppose. It's a good example of FO4 putting style ahead of substance - do a Really Cool Thing without thinking about what the cost will be, then implement some awkward and frustrating solution to patch things up.

It made me completely give up on using power armor because it was just another resource that took up space in your inventory. Also the way power armor works in general in 4 makes it so tedious and cumbersome. Not in the nice challenging way where old games like the originals had actual drawbacks to certain perks and mechanics, but in the chore way like doing homework. It was incredibly stupid to introduce it in the beginning of the game too.

@@FredJokamotraye That was a shame for me. I was always reluctant to use Power Armor in Fallout just due to my play style, but I enjoyed hauling around my junk in power armor for FO4….didn’t do it for long because of that resource management. It just didn’t feel right.

The bar for quality is INSANELY low these days.. and it continues to go lower and lower.. It's honestly depressing. I think I'll just stick to old media, thank you very much.

The interesting thing about shows like these and Picard is that I've noticed there seems to be a very distinct racial/gender-based hierarchy established according to the portrayals of the characters: - White women are usually portrayed as competent and morally good - Black men are usually portrayed as incompetent but morally good - Black women are usually portrayed as competent but morally evil - White men are usually portrayed as both incompetent and morally evil There are some exceptions to these rules due to casting but generally, according to proportion of the number of characters depicted in each manner, this is pretty accurate across the board for most television series produced after 2020.

This is why Reaper is now my new favorite movie critic KZreadr since Mauler!

Lots of the characters are naive due to there lack of exposure to the real world. I found Norm and Cooper to be very smart picking up on the sexrets around them pretty quick. Max and Lucy were also fairly smart they just needed time to adjust. Lucy represented charimatic intelligence and Max is more akin to the real world. I think it was revealed he had high endurance.

Have Lucy just be her own character that was thrusted into the wasteland because of something happening with the vault (you could even have had raiders be the cause without the whole dumb connection thing). Fix the Brotherhood to look less like stereotypical military men. Have the NCR and Enclave be the main two factions that are at war, while the catalyst being the enclave carpet bombing shady sands. The ghoul is fine, but maybe change the whole dumb concept of ghoul invincibility, specifically with not getting hungry or thirsty. I could go on, but many of these writers are incredibly incompetent in making anything with nuance or maturity.

Different people notice different things. I noticed the far-left political issues, that most reviewers didn't, or don't dare to mention, but many problems about the writing (even though I learned how to write) or the lore evaded my attention. Arch, Shad, Synth and others have good, but different points.

I liked the show, i fell asleep. Best nap i had in a while. Reaper sure tore the show apart. Something drinker went extremely soft on his bs review.

Nah drinker wasn't completely wrong he just got enamered by walton goggins and ella purnell like 99% of the people who watched this show. he gave the writing a free pass because it had a good female protagonist and a badass male anithero in a time when those are nearly extinct. He ended up agreeing with Mauler about the writing only a week later. Still his review is accurate considering the majority of people will enjoy this show for the actors the same way he did unlike shows like Rings of Power or Halo

I feel like I’ve been in a bizarro world whenever I talk about this show with friends, as they unanimously love it and say it’s a perfect adaption and the writing is great. I think watching so much absolute fucking garbage modern media has rotted his brain. His expectations are so low, he’ll give any show with competent set design and cinematography a good review. When he gave the TLoU show a pass, I knew it was time for him to take a vacation. That was a year ago and he’s been binging garbage daily. This is Bethesda saying fuck you to NV fans and the legacy of the fallout Fallout games, 1, 2 and New Vegas, the ones that understand the themes of the franchise and those that try to progress forward with its story. Not the slop that is 3,4, 76 and the Tv show which is constantly regressing. There are most likely more retcons than this that others can point out. This show is awful, and anyone defending it is either a non-Fallout fan or a sub-human bottom feeder that is killing the entertainment industry with their bumbling stupidity defending and shilling corporate slop that couldn't be anything better than fast food. I know this may sound harsh but it is the truth and it must be said to preserve standards and quality content, if this was just a goofy Fallout adaptation i would still dislike it but i would tolerate it, but no this is meant to be Fallout 5, Fallout is officially dead and anything beyond this point is just a dead body being controlled by Bethesda.

This show is so bad I literally can’t make it past the third episode. I have tried to start watching it agin like four times because everyone keeps saying it’s so good. The writing of the characters is nonsensical, the decision making is moronic, the stakes in any given situation are non-existent with the amount of bullshit plot armor coating every character of the slightest importance.

Yeah. Can't seem to force myself to watch it. I've tried. My brother thinks it's decent, so when we hang out, sometimes he was watching it... I had to excuse myself eventually. It was pretty lame the whole way. It's a fanfiction.

What's really funny about Vault-Tec ending the world, is that even Bethesda's retconned lore contradicts this. In Fallout 4 you can meet a Ghoul named Zao. He was a Chinese submarine captain, and he admits that it was China who dropped the bombs on America. Not to mention Vault 88 and Vault 114 were still under construction when the bombs dropped. Vault 114 was specifically meant to house rich people, but it was never used because they couldn't finish it in time.

No one here seems to have noticed Barbara's daughter was outside when the bombs dropped implying vault tec didn't drop the bombs, because all the execs would definitely have their families in vaults. But no, just immediately jump on the hate train

@@judge00 At the end of the season, The Ghoul asked Hank, where his family is? Implying they are still alive. As for dropping the bombs. Vault-Tec talking about it was meant to be some huge reveal. But i guess Bethesda will retcon it again, if the backlash is strong enough. Just like how they retconned Shady Sands being destroyed in 2277, which is nonsense.

Anyways it's not like everything is set in stone, when a new fallout game comes out, we get all new lore at once, this is a show and it's anticipating a season 2 when we'll get more lore. I'm confident the storyline for this was written by an AI chatbot. It's not just stupid, it's a complete clusterfuck. Either that, or it was written as it was filmed, and they came up with twists episode-by-episode. There's no way one or more actual human beings wrote the entire season's story beforehand, looked it over, and said "yeah, that makes sense". The final result is screwed up in a way that doesn't make sense. It's not a couple errors or plot holes that can be overlooked; it's a total fiasco.
