i like the older yao gai, the skinny body with super long arms just looks more monstrous, the fallout 4 one kind of looks more like a regular bear with some messed up fur

Will admit most of the monsters definitely look better in Fallout 4. Though supermutants and ghouls look a bit better in the previous ones. Ghouls are supposed to be a state of rotting, with radiation causing them to regenerate at the same rate.

They are supposed to be in a perpetual state of rotting, with radiation in their blood causes their cells to regenerate at the same rate roughly. Forever in pain, and just forced to deal with it. While in fallout 4 they are more like just very old people.

when seeing them displayed together i never realised how much the fallout 3/nv power armor looks like cosplay. genuinely, it looks like someone tried to make a costume of the fallout 4 power armour made of tissue paper and glue... so flimsy looking. One thing 4 got so right was the scale of PA. having the armor stand at 7ft tall makes it look less like something I'd see at a convention and more of a walking tank.

Been playing TTW with power armor visual enhancement mod, also got an animation / sound mod that makes the power armor sound more chunky. Will always be in my mod loader, it actually looks like power armor now, it's great!

agreed. the older power armor looks like its made of aluminum foil and hope. could probably stop a .22 though so thats cool I guess. power armor is supposed to go thump, clank hiss etc.... be really heavy and imposing, not rustle gently in the breeze.

I think the only bad point about PAs in Fallout 4 is that they are extremely easy to find, like, with enough level you can find an X-01 in the trash, in addition to the life spam of the fusion cores, which is equivalent to the battery life of an iPhone. Aside from that, Fallout 4's PA s is easily the best in the franchise

Older games (and this applies not only to fallout) are always more brutal

Did you know that deathclaws were supposed to be mammals and be furry? They became reptiles in Fallout (1), because the devs didn't have the opportunity to make a creature model furry. Thus, the most accurate representation of the original deathclaw concept is in Fallout Tactics.

Fo3 was scary with the ferals ghouls and deathclaws with its creepy atmosphere in the metros and the green filter as you go above ground

the power armors in Fallout 4 do look like an actuall POWER armor instead of a skinny glorified suit, ngl the power armors in Fallout 3/NV looks very crappy

Fallout 3 has the best atmosphere with its dark greenish colors

I liked what they did with the sentry bot and mirelurks. But imo, the old protectron, yao guai, and mutants were better. They looked more realistic. Like the mutants would be nasty like that, since the fev is mangling their body and dna (ik lore reason, 4 mutants were made by the institute). The yao guai looked like it was really mutated, and rabid (and super reakin scary to encounter early on) Primm slimm. Enough said.

Maybe a blend of the older look and style, with the newer animations and textures would be good. I think the older style is more gritty and real. The newer is more akin to a charcature, odd dimensions, clipping, and oversized. Not to mention actualy getting power armor in the older ones felt like an acheivement. New stuff feels weak but looks ok

Let's be honest here, all power armors and creatures look way better in Fallout 4 with the updated graphics and textures, it makes them all look more alive.

Call me old fashioned, but streamlining the Deathclaws was not the way to go. They gotta have that Dorito body to really emphasize how screwed you are. (Not that Deathclaws are nearly as much a cause for concern as they were in older games, but that's another discussion entirely.)

In new Vegas (in a DLC) there is Yao guai

Upon looking at them side by side I’ve realized that 3 and New Vegas are literally the same

Fallout 4s just overall better in this comparison but I like the charm the old games had and I’ve never played them only watched videos , but fallout 4 graphics, and gameplay is unmatched

Graphically Fallout 4 is better but some monster designs you can pick and choose. Fallout 4 deathclaws look really good, but then you remember Bethesda undermines themselves by making you fight one immediately.

Overall Fallout 4 monsters are better unsurprisingly, I just find deathclaws in Fallout 4 less 'devilish', they're fancier, bulkier but I find them less scary, they actually look like big animals now, in the older games they looked like demons from hell, they even had that idle animation where they sharpen their claws, I don't think they kept it in Fallout 4.

Radscorpion is scary in Fallout 4.

Looks better in FO4: Mirelurks, Mirelurk King, Deathclaws, Aliens, Protectrons, Mister Handy/Gutsy and PAs. Looks better in FO3/FNV: Super mutants, Feral ghouls, Radscorpions and Yao guai. Everything else looks good in any version.

I don't know what they're doing with the mirelurk kings in any of the games, the mirelurks are clearly crab inspired, like crabs who got mutated and look the best in Fallout 4 but the mirelurk kings are just actual humanoid looking in 3 and New vegas, seriously like the lore has to be something connected with humans because there's no way you can explain any sea creature mutating into that. And the Mirelurk kings in 4 just look like some alien monsters.

The robots and Mirelurks look great (except for the King, which you mistook for Lakelurks). The PAs look goofy with the small torso and giant tights, 1 & 2 still have the best. The rest? Terrible redesign, Mutants and Deathclaw specially.

Why does the power armor in the old games look so tiny? It looks weird, but I guess I’m used to the fallout 4 versions.

I like the Super Mutants in F3 the most, they look veiny and disgusting compared to New Vegas and they look more buff than in F4, same with feral ghouls, they look more horrifying than in F4. I love the Power Armor in F4 though, feels like a human shaped tank, while in F3/NV it's just clothes with more stats.

same i also like the ghouls better in fo3 because they're skin is still pealing off with some blood on their faces from infection caused by radiation. they're a lot more gorey looking which i think adds to the immersion of how messed up the wasteland is.

Mirelurk king in fallout 3 should've been brought to fallout 4. That dude was creepy.

It's a shame how big a visual downgrade 4 was. But they improved on power armor and protectrons, so there's that.

the ghouls were nerfed sooo bad in 4 and 76. a ghoul reaver from 3 and nv woupd decimate 4 and 76... not to mention the straight up strength and bee line mentality of 3 and nv deathclaws compared to the 4 and 76 mentality of "gotta be agile gotta be dodgey. then hit them softly and scream a little". if onoy Frank could come back from the dead and show the new supermutants how to really be badass...

Fallout 3 is the winner for me except for the deathclaw and power armor, but I have such nostalgia for the game so take my opinion as is

It's like they spent all the budget for building t45 on the helmet and chest piece and used some stray metal lying around the t51 and hellfire look balanced but t45... Not so much

Tbh I think fallout 4 was the most memorable. It introduced different and more realistic designs for monsters and some power armour. What was the best thing it gave us, though, was the rocket bottle shaped nuka colas and new flavours. Each fallout was fantastic. Fallout 3 kicked it all off. Fallout new Vegas was perfect. Fallout 4 gave us so many new things that the others hadn't. The best music and theme, the best font etc.
