Fallout 4 Control Room Wiring

Ойындар

In response to a request, this is how I wired the hopper switches in my ammo plant. This was on a PS4 so no mods. I also did not use any logic gates to keep it easy to do for anyone. Comments are always welcome.

    Incredibly helpful my friend much simpler than it looks in fact when I saw your first video doing the walkthrough of the ammo plant I assumed the inner workings would be incredibly complicated but honestly I would describe this as an intermediate level of building that being said the sheer tidiness and precision of your original build is very impressive my friend inspiring in fact thank you very much for sharing I've become aware that these videos were posted years ago but I hope you see this all the same God bless you my friend and have a great day

    Oh good! You made the wiring follow-up video! Very well done, I liked how you demonstrated the difference between connecting to connectors and connecting to switches, it really simplified the concept of transmission and interrupted flow to isolate process applications, and how to direct on/off functionality to multiple inputs. Also, demonstrating the conduit application of wire first, build second definitely helped me understand why I could never get my conduits to function properly., now if they only snapped to walls to be perfectly lined up or squared to the floors and walls. wishful thinking right?

    Short summary for someone watching: independently route electricity from your power source to your switches, then let your switches control the flow of energy by routing from them to your connectors and conduits. With this setup the switches themselves act as logic gates of a type, only you can route multiple actions through a single lever instead of the logic gates that take multiple inputs to decide whether to flip a virtual lever.

    Thank you for your summary, I know I can get long winded in an explanation, but some people that have never done anything like this may not understand what you just said. I do, but not everyone will. What I was attempting to do was not only tell them HOW to do it, but explain WHY it works the way it does. Then if things don't work right they have some idea where to look for the problem. I understand for those people that understand it, my explanation can get very boring.

    thank you for the tips about the ceiling snap conduit pieces. I couldn't figure out how to use those either. when laying/aligning conduit, it's a pity that there is no 90° snap.

  • @Peabody-xv2tg

    @Peabody-xv2tg

    7 жыл бұрын

    Most real life conduit used corners (elbows) because they install the conduit THEN they pull the wire through so it makes it easier. But there are 90 degree pieces, the first four in the conduit tab. They are called 'conduit junctions' and they have two, three and four connections on them, you can use them on floor or ceiling. What I wish they had was vertical ones. (maybe that is what you meant? You can't go 90 degrees up or down? Since the only vertical are the full length ones.)

  • @SnowWolf75

    @SnowWolf75

    7 жыл бұрын

    What I meant is pieces that would snap so that the connectors were 90* from the wall. Like in the beginning of the video he was fiddling with the piping to get it positioned just right. Vertically oriented conduit would be nice, too, so you can go up and along a wall, from inside or out.

    Could possibly improve the look of your switch wall by using a pass through on the side instead of the two connectors. Then you've only got one connection peering through for power. And the conduits do a good job of isolating power so it shouldn't be much issue. Other than that, solid video. Haven't played with counters myself, but I like the thought process.

  • @Peabody-xv2tg

    @Peabody-xv2tg

    If I understand you correctly, yes. There are several ways it could have been wired. The reason it was this way it at first there was no bottom set of switches so I keep the power centered at the top instead of the side. As you see in the video I actually put the wrong connector on the conduit at first because that is the way I did it in the factory before I added the bottom switches.

  • @Peabody-xv2tg

    @Peabody-xv2tg

    7 жыл бұрын

    You put one ingredient into the component sorter. For example, the first sorter sorts for oil, so put one oil into the sorter, then anything passing through that contains oil will go into the first hopper. You need one for each item needed to make the ammo. Oil, lead, copper, fertilizer, steel, and plastic.

    Peabody1001 cool man one more question. I can't get the sorter to spit out the material into the hopper. Is there a certain wiring you need or just wait till it fills up. Thanks again

  • @Peabody-xv2tg

    @Peabody-xv2tg

    7 жыл бұрын

    The sorters do need power, not exactly what you mean. Are you using the "Component Sorter"? There are two sorters, the component sorter (the one you need) sorts any item containing the ingredient you need. The other only sorts the exact same item. Example: Component sorter you put in one copper it will sort out lamps, copper, fuse, hot plate and others that contain copper. If you use the "Sorter" and put in copper it will only sort pure copper, NOT item that contain copper.

    Sure, I will try to explain, if not I could do another video, I should have done a build instead of a walk through. First of all the lights and doors are on their own circuits so they don't go on and off when you power the machines on/off. Since you mention the vacuums and conveyors I assume you have seen my factory, right? OK, there are some things you don't need so I will do the basics to get it working. The machinery has basically three circuits. 1. On the wall you have one switch supplying power to the hoppers switches. Connect that switch to the ammo builder. Since the ammo builder is connected to the conveyors that run under the hoppers it will also power the connected conveyors, and the conveyor that goes to the storage hopper. 2. Add a second switch and wire it to the vacuum hopper that takes material out of the ammo builder when you are done making ammo. That will also transfer power to the conveyors connected to it. 3. Add a third switch and connect that one to the vacuum hopper that sends material up to the sorters by the lift. Again it will transfer power to the conveyors, the lift and the sorters without any other connections. Make sure you use "component sorters" Edited: In this edit I am referring to the steps above. The first thing I would do, the one switch in the video is directly connected to the generator. I would disconnect it from the generator and put in a "Main" switch somewhere and connect the "main" to the generator and then run a wire from the main to switch one, from main to switch two. and main to switch three so each switch I describe above doesn't have to be connected to the generator. Hope that makes sense, if not please let me know.

    thank you for repling ill try this out how do i get the component sorters to take selected items only like oil,lead ect thanks again

  • @Peabody-xv2tg

    @Peabody-xv2tg

    7 жыл бұрын

    Just put one of the item you are sorting for into the component sorter. For example, if you are sorting for oil, put one oil into the sorter, on the lead sorter put in one piece of lead and so on. If you sort for oil do NOT put in an oil can, only put in the oil. If you do not have an oil, drop an oil can on the ground and scrap it, then take the oil out of the workshop and put it into the sorter. To make sure I understand your question, when you put one oil into the sorter it will take all items that contain oil, it will not take just the oil. So if you run the items you collected, it will sort out all the items that contain oil, it will not take the oil out of them. The ammo plant (builder) will scrap the item and use the oil and leave the other stuff behind, that is why there is a vacuum to take out the ingredients that are not used. Another example, the lead sorter will sort out a pencil, but it will take the whole pencil not just the lead, but when you make ammo, the builder will use the lead and leave the wood behind in the builder. The sorters do NOT scrap the items. Also keep in mind, the builders will NOT scrap weapons or armor. Also, don't forget in the video I mentioned to hoppers are facing the wrong direction just so you can see them working. Face the hopper door the same direction the conveyor belt is going, which means you have to turn them right or left so the items drop onto the conveyor.

    This video is only a simplified version of the actual ammo factory, it was done by requests of some asking how I wired my hoppers. And although I have a working knowledge of logic gates I am by no means an expert at it. There are actually 5 switches and 6 hoppers in the actual factory. Even if I took the time to figure it out with logic gates, anyone that does not understand how they work would not be able to take the information and use it in their own factory which may not be an ammo factory and would require a totally different set of logic gates. That is the reason I did it this way, so anyone could take this info and wire any factory to make any items, without having to understand logic gates. Thank you for your comment, I just don't think I am the one that could give them an easy way to do any factory using logic gates. I would be very interested in how you would have done it though.

    I had to fill a slot in college and ended up taking advanced digital electronics. In that class we used things like programmable EEPROM chips and had to learn logic gates and boolean arithmetic. There is no need for knowledge like that these days of course until fallout4 came along and finally I was able to put my logic gate knowledge to use. I agree making a video to explain how to use them would be a chore.
