Hi Kevin, Great video. I think you have been reading my mind! I recently discovered that Base Toys are not diecast but predominantly made of plastic and have decidec that they are ideal for Faller conversions. I have a few in stock now so when I get bored with the layout build I can have a go at something. That signal box is looking really good. I have recently discovered Justin's range of laser cut kits and will be using some soon. He head seems to be burtsing with ideas and I get quite dizzy sometimes reading his news letters!....John

Canal Sidings Model Railway thanks John the conversion has gone well will have to try changing the resistor like your idea of slowing it down I find it is pushing it off the guide wire on a curve that I have that is sloping , as for the windows they are going to work well Justin is great only spoke to him about making them and had them on my workbench within seven days , he is always looking for new ideas if you have any give him a try cheers Kevin

Mmm, fair enough, thought I'd ask. I phoned them for the first time, and got a very rude response. I sent them a message online about it too, and it wasn't much better, although after a few emails the messages begun to improve. They wrote 'We do have a member of staff here who can come across a bit abrupt at times, but we have a lot of customers who appreciate his 'directness'.' Not impressed. Guess what - they didn't get a sale. I noticed a few other people have also had some complaints here on YT, so thought I'd ask you as you are near to them. Problem for me is the first dealings can affect you ever dealing with a company again. Laurie.

That must have been very satisfying to see that van go round the track of the road after the conversion and it went really well too. Is there a way of slowing it down by some trick electrical work like putting in some form of resistor thingy (I haven't a clue what I'm talking about here!) but just something to give it a more realistic speed. Those windows look like a work of art Kevin, the box will look fabulous once you have put your final magical touch on it. ;-) .............Graham

The BMC (also marketed Austin, Leyland) thrupenny bit cab is a lot more suited to Cornwall than the German city bus, Great conversion - what's next the Ford Cargo in the background? when you taking orders? lol. I believe they were stopped in production after too many drivers stepped out onto oncoming traffic exiting the cabs, I can remember the Corona & the local bakers using them, showing my age. Perranwell signal box is coming on well, look forward to end results putting levers in? (Refer to Truro video).

Hi Kevin, I was dubious how this would end up at first but your skills are pretty amazing and the final result is great. Im currently in a similar boat, im trying to find a donor vehicle for my merc sprinter. I've tried it against a couple of bedford trucks, it would fit in just fine if i follow your lead, unfortunately the wheels are too small. Still looking tthough As a matter of interest whats the wheelbase on the coach before modification please? Keep up the good work

Wonderful van conversion, it has given me an idea to do something similar. We used to see them in our area as Sunblest bread vans in the 1970's. What are your thoughts on the model itself? I thought it was a tad overscale compared to Base Toys other lorries, but that could just be me. I am working on a 1:76 scale full radio control Ford 7000 tractor with working loader and rear hitch!! (god help me) Matchbox Superfast body with scratchbuilt chassis and micro electronics plus 2.4Ghz radio unit.....i digress.

A real one? I love those old Ford tractors. It's been about 30 years since iv'e driven one, bet i can still remember how! There are of course no official 1:76 Fords of that era (yet) but the old Matchbox model scales about right, the bonnet shape isn't bad, and the cab profile looks about right. The wheels are rubbish, but i'll be using the wheels off a Wiking 1:87 tractor. Here is a link to the electronics i'll be using, if you'd care to look - - - www.sol-expert-group.de/1-87-model-building/Complete-sets-for-1-87-models/Complete-sets-for-1-87-lorry-2-4-GHz/BASIC-PLUS-complete-set-2-4-GHz-for-1-87-lorry::871.html

Andy Hart yes a real one bought in north wales found it was originally from Cornwall needs a fair bit of work , engine rebuilt now need to learn to weld to refurbish the cab , so. The railway has taken a bit of a back seat , will take a look at the link

I am quite jealous! If i had a bit of land i would get one myself, i love tractors. If you are new to welding, may i suggest a MIG rather than an ARC. ARC welders get very hot, and will blow through thin metal quicker than a knife through butter. If you are going to do a lot of welding, have you a mate that can teach you? Or maybe do an evening class?
