This is like Egyptian version of a Disney Princess story with a happy ending. Only difference a mother or father didn't die. Great way to portray the gods lives or history of Egyptian methodology.

I'd love to see a movie about Greek gods with fight scenes like the ones between gods in this movie. Supposedly Greek gods have super strength, so it'd make sense. It would be sick to see Zeus fighting with massive tornados and blizzards, but a lot of people just seem to forget that Zeus can manipulate storm *and* air 😫

This is why the movie didn't do to well at theaters. I remember a big thing being made about the all white cast didn't portray people of color in Egypt. Good movie though. Chadwick Boseman part in this movie was hilarious!

"Actual Egyptians" from Ancient Egypt don't exist anymore. This may come as a shock to you, but 5000 years later, the demographics have changed enormously and the people living in Egypt today likely bare little resemblance to those living there at the time.

Uh, news flash, the Egyptians used to be much whiter, with the ruling caste basically being Greek. Carthage also had an all white citizen caste. Demographics have shifted, and the current Egyptians don't share much relation to the ancient ones. This is basic knowledge.

@@onlyoneam Anthropology has used DNA testing on the vast number of preserved ancient egyptians and determined that the ancient egyptians were White, specifically they were Nordic and Mediterranean. They also tracked the halpotypes and determined that egypt gradually fell as the ancient egyptians were replaced by migrant workers coming to help work on their projects, until the native ancient egyptians were completely replaced by north africans that had bred in with the original people there, giving the caramel colored modern egyptians. Thus, this movie is at least accurate with the diversity, and with the White actors playing White roles portraying their ancient ancestor's cousins.

Meh, no worse than a black guy. The ethnic Egyptians are mostly gone, got genocide hard in the early days of the caliphate. So it isn’t like you can many around. Also, the Egyptian gods are wierd. Like Red hair was common, and blue eyes (it was likely just a stylistic description of colors that as far as they knew no human possessed). Good luck finding those traits outside of European though. But special effects could have fixed it. To be accurate though, well the last vestiges are the coptics. A Mediterranean ethnic group that a really, really tan Italian or Greek might make a half decent passable facsimile of. Or you could Put a coat of bronzer on a Syrian or Israeli and it’d be pretty close. Either way, the portrayed pre-dynastic Egypt as ethnically diverse, which was about 3k years too early for that, so it isn’t as if this movie is in anyway demographically accurate.

I loved that movie, it's one if the reasons I was interested in Egyptian gods

I really did like this movie, but it was hard get into because of the ridiculousness of the cast not being, you know.. Egyptian, or even African/Middle eastern.. or even.. brown. 🙄 Just weird.

You mean where White british men honor their White egyptian ancestors (because anthropology has used dna to determine that the ethnic ancient Egyptians were nordic.)

Sounds like the coolest movie ever.

Good summary. Terrible movie. K'met (Egypt) is one of the greatest African kingdoms, but the gods are portrayed by White people. This is as ridiculous as John Wayne playing Ghengis Khan, complete with a Southern drawl.

Well, the Ancient Egyptians who painted their Gods in the pyramids didn't paint them black, instead giving them blue eyes and red hair and gold skin ( literally gold foil). As for choosing actors...whatever makes the most money is best. You may be just envious because you're not famous...

I saw this on FX. It was a great movie. Two thumbs up!
