The Falla "Plaza del Mercado Central" is one of the many Fallas that are built and displayed during the Fallas celebrations in Valencia, Spain. Las Fallas are popular festivities that take place from March 15 to 19 each year, in honor of San José, the patron saint of carpenters. During these festivities, the streets of Valencia are filled with monuments made of cardboard, wood and other materials, known as "fallas".

This act symbolizes renewal and rebirth, as well as the elimination of the old to make way for the new. Although it may seem contradictory, the burning of the Fallas is an integral and exciting part of this traditional Valencian festival.
