Ben Woodruff......natural born teacher. Besides his obvious passion, and formidable knowledge about falconry, his ability to convey that knowledge and spread that passion to others is a pleasure to watch. I think this man could teach calculus to 1st graders! LOL

It would be great to have exact measurements for that set up... Maybe even tutorial how to build it, setting up walls, giant hood etc... Does it happen to something to fly left or right when walls are not up or all goes behind?

A loop perch. That was my guess! A great indoor perch! The most practical perch you can use, I've used them on Merlins and kestrels without any problems.

I’m building mews now…. So yea a video on different mews would be great… learnt a lot from your videos as falconry is not a thing where I live… working with a local rehab center to start off falconry 🇹🇹.

Ben, I have two preferred sources of information, your channel and falconry told. Though, yours is very topic centric which is very helpful for me as I am learning. Anyways, this is not why I write here now - I digress - not the point. Between the two channels, including this video, I have pieced together some considerations for my first passage bird that I plan to trap next spring - following laws of our province here in BC Canada. The question I have for you is regarding having birds indoors, with specific consideration of bird slices (slicing). If I understand correctly, some birds spray slice everywhere, and others drop slice. It seems to reason that if a bird is preferred indoor, slices that drop would be preferred on an indoor perch. Do you have knowledge around slicing patterns of birds, which birds slice this way or that way? If you have done a video already on this, please let me know.

Hello Ben. I absolutely love your channel! I was hoping that you would do a video on how to open up your bird to prey. I got my first bird, female kestrel, late last season, so I didn't have time to get but one free flight in. Could you please just highlight how to attract her to the right kind of prey (hopefully sparrows), and any other suggestions. Thank you so very very much!

If you want her to chase sparrows or starlings you need to show her they mean food. If you want her to hunt sparrows but she wont chase them you might want to bag her on a couple and let her feed up on them. It could take a few baggie sparrows before she'll chase wild ones. Good luck with your kbird!

Ben, what are your thoughts about Buzzards indoors? Are red tails any different? How is the noise? I’m not sure if red tails just let that All American big block Chevy scream out 24/7 or if that’s only while on the hunt! Thank you so much. Subscribed!

If you use a key ring instead of a welded ring it is so much quieter. The noise of a welded ring drives me banana's. Pro tip

  • @TheQuestingBeastSpotted

With loop perches, don't you want the welded "loop" to go all the way to the ground on either side, and the top of the loop to be equal to the top of the perch (or a touch above) to prevent tangling and tail damage?

You would need a propagation permit, only issued to master falconers who qualify. Hybrids are generally artificially inseminated.
