Falangist Anthem - Cara al sol [+English translation]
The only intent of these videos is to exhibit historical anthems and songs from Spain/La única intención de estos videos es exhibir himnos históricos y canciones de España
Cara al Sol (English: Facing the Sun) is the anthem of the Falange Española de las JONS. The lyrics were written in December 1935 and are usually credited to the leader of the Falange, José Antonio Primo de Rivera. The music was composed by Juan Tellería and Juan R. Buendia.
Its popularity was boosted by Primo de Rivera's execution on 20 November 1936 and his subsequent glorification by the Spanish Nationalists.
During the Spanish Civil War the Falange, which was since its inception quite military or paramilitary, like other equivalent youth parties in countries under totalitarian regimes, became an important part of the National Army (or National Movement), both ideologically and militarily, still as an independent organization but strengthening the regular insurgent army in the combat lines, which caused plenty of Falangist casualties, and Cara al sol was their anthem throughout "the war days", the lyrics acquiring an even more special signification for its remembering of the "fallen comrades".

@Long live old Europe All my family members lived under Franco and no; it wasn´t a "serious society"; it was physical abuse at school, awfull working conditions, mass emigration, local despotism, lack of infraestructure (The roads in my hometown were paved with mussil shells up to the 80´s; and we didn´t get telephone line till the early 70´s). The dictatorship managed to develop a decent national industry; yet the same Franco is the responsible for the mass turistification of Spain. Idiots like you jerk of looking at NO-DO videos of sunshine and parades. Reality was quite different.

@Long live old Europe Entonces podemos hablar en español. No; no era mejor que "la mayoria de occidente". Con todos los problemas de España (Que no son pocos) se vive infinitamente mejor que en los años del caudillo. Quizás la excepción es el mundo laboral; pero eso ya no es cuestión de Franco si no de la desindustrialización generalizada del sur europeo aupada precisamente por Franco. Y lo del orden es poco más que de tipo estético. Durante la dictadura actuaron inumerables grupos armados (FRAP, ETA, UPG-militar, TLl...), la represión contra el movimiento obrero era terrible. El desarrollismo como modelo económico era sencillamente insostenible (Se vio en los 70´s) y a la vista tienes los resultados de la turistificación de España. Algún nostalgico queda del Franquismo. Al fin y al cabo hizo de una España atrasadisima una potencia económica, dio casa y trabajo a muchos; enseño a leer... Más lo mismo se puede decir de casi cualquier Estado; de la Unión Soviética de Stalin a la Argentina de Perón pasando por las potencias europeas tras la guerra (De Gaulle en Francia, los ordoliberales y los comunistas en Alemania; los laboristas británicos...) y los populismos latinoaméricanos de medidados de siglo.

@Electric Fire Putin is a very shady character. He has turned Russia into a kind of neo-USSR. The most popular historical leader in Russia today is probably Stalin. Esas ideas germánicas de los nazis nada tienen que ver con la Hispanidad de la vieja usanza. @@felicepatti8142 Debes utilizar el cerebro, te voy a enseñar como se hace: 1º Colón no era italiano, era genovés, a Italia aún le quedaban unos siglos para unificarse. 2º Colón llegó a América, pero nunca descubrió que estuvo en América. 3º Colón se naturalizó español, ese termino hoy lo conocemos como "nacionalizarse". 4º Colón fue un marino a las ordenes de España, él era un almirante de la Armada. 5º La empresa que comandó Colón, fue una empresa castellana financiada por los reyes católicos, el dinero, los barcos, los marinos, los mandos, nada de eso procedía de "Italia". 6º Si han habido tantos problemas por esclarecer la procedencia de nuestro gran marino español, es porque se avergonzaba de ella y él mismo hizo todo lo posible por mantenerla oculta, digamos que Colón se independizó de Génova, nunca quiso saber nada de Génova. Por lo que puedo ver en el artículo de Wikipedia de "Cataluña", los idiomas oficiales de Cataluña son: catalán, castellano (español), e occitano (aranés).

@@perezfranklin Lo que no pondrá en la wikipedia es que en Cataluña el 60% de los niños no pueden estudiar en su lengua materna (el español), que multan a los comerciantes si rotulan en español, perdón, si no rotulan en catalán y que el gobierno regional hace todo lo posible para marginar al español.
