It wasn't a stock type r that set the record. It was a special "Type R S' lightweight ltd edition that's a Euro only special - no other markets. It was also on Cup 2 tyres. The car

@psicho31 Obviously it’s not getting extreme lightweight treatment, like for example how Porsche is doing their Weissach package. But I’m more concerned about the engine tune. Since the one in Honda video able to gain and trapped higher speed on long straight sections of the track.

Overall a pretty capable bit of kit. He drove that thing pretty damn well to be fair. Love the little animation of the car in the tach doing the braking and indicating. It's the little things.

That subtle animation of the real time brake lights appliction is superb.

I had the pleasure of driving this car for some days and i really like it. The whole package looks good and tidy, the seats are nice, and everything looks and feels high quality, especially the steering wheel (it is amazing and i love it). The infotainment software is well structured / intuitive and the sound system is good. What's most important to me is the way it drives. Of course it's a sporty car and it feels quick / direct when you push it, but you can also drive it in a calm manner and it just goes with it very well. It doesn't feel like you have to hold back a race car at all. I would take this over a Golf gti anytime.

That was an amazing drive... I'm no expert, but it seemed like he was hitting all the right points on the track and carrying speed really well through the corners. He can drive... for sure. ... and to top it off... it's a real car with a manual gear change.

Guy drives very smooth. Nice lap.

Really good looking these and finally a nice interior. Just a shame about the price! I bought a 1yr old loaded EP3 Type R in 2005 for £13k and now they're £45k 🤯

Mad today to think today that would be about £21,500. Clearly the FL5 is not the same type of car the old one was, (probably more akin to an i20n) but the price is ridiculous. The fact you can't even buy one is also annoying.

We didnt have the EP3 TypeR in Canada but in 2005 i had a EP3 SiR. Loved that car!

Very nice driving. Looks so smooth and almost calming yet fast as hell!

No wonder it broke the record. Rotation is so "natural" like none other. Thanks Misha!

Not surprised it set a lap record, he was clearly an awesome driver but the front end on that car for a FWD with over 300bhp looked pretty mega.

Well driven mate - Similar to the last gen typeR it looks to handle great for a fwd car. Some of those corners it looks like the LSD was just pulling you out of them!

That was smooth! Seeing the red Megane RS at the end, would be nice to see a lap in one of those!

I really like the design of the new type-r, looks clean 👌

I like the brake lights going on from the little car on the digital dash 🤪

He's very professional driver using every kerb every cm hearing the tyres scream on each corner best driving performance !

Amazing how this car rotates for being FWD. Every corner you think it will understeer, it just grips.

@sesh3508 Insane if it was done with summer tire, instead of Cup2. Like how Randy Pobst demolished GR Corolla Morizo that only has 2 seats, and wearing Cup2 on Willow Springs track. And itcwas done with bone stock FL5.

Nice video once again. Don’t know, but during the video it multiple times looked like the car had some wheel hopping! Maybe the bushings or dampers are not capable for these tyres or so?

the one thing i like about Hondas is that they make shifting so easy that even a super novice can jump in and shift without jolting everyone in the car. i never realized this until i drove a Suzuki Swift Sport and noticed that you really have to learn to shift well to drive it properly. very different from my old Honda!

Great car, good to see a very confident lap as well. All cars should be fitted with auto blip on the downshift. This raises a question, can it be mapped for flat shifting going up through the gears? Elephant in the room, how quick was the BMW at the beginning of the video....👀

It just saddens me that a few years ago i was looking at brand new fk8s for £31.5k here in Britain the FL5 is £50k...basically near M2 comp money. Maybe its because they are not made here anymore because the factory in Swindon closed but Honda have excelled in everything other than the price. Severely disappointed from that perspective. I don't believe that Sochiro Honda would not have wanted the CTR brand to be like this whereby its exclusive for the rich or a financed car that you can't modify for years.

Start with a slower one if it is your very first time on the Nürburgring. 200-250hp are more than enough to learn the track.

That Torsen limited slip differential is really shining.

Cool cars, the black ones look evil. But i always tough that 1 of the 3 tailpipes were valved so you can straightpipe it with a press of a button. at least someone in my neighborhood had. didn't ask if it was stock tho... but indeed those speaker sounds are awful... it almost sound like a blown up speaker on the higher revs... disable it, valve it and problem solved :D

As I just bought a TT in the same color as the one next to the civic, I would love a video with that car. Or maybe just some info about the car/driver, insta maybe, would like to follow and learn more about it. P.S: curious about your impressions of the record lap compared with this one.

Watching the video, I can´t help hearing Jeremy Clarkson saying "understeeeeeer". Just a little bit. I hope next lap will be with you driving it, and with the factory tyres. Thanks, Misha!

Did someone tried to tamper with the fake noise in newer cars? I mean getting rid of the speakers in this kind of cars which will be track prepped shouldn't be an issue anyway but I assume there's some software way to turn it off. Edit: watched till the end, so the option no. 1 is viable thru disconnecting speakers.

I enjoyed my FK8 but out of principle, I would never pay Honda what they're asking now.

Honda should properly sell a "light spec" as opposed to what's essentially a touring package. If you have even a small race team you can order the "race base" for touring car series, etc, through HPD which is neat, but one that *isn't* also trying to be perfect on the street, something more raw would be cool. Too bad the company is undergoing its "second founding" into EV production
