Reason that 1st $25 basically parking fee. He supposed to pay from his pocket. I live in Ny for last 21 years. And i know airport has a lot of scammers like this. For $1350 you could of gone to Bangladesh and come back.

I got scammed on my first day in New York in JFK airport with a fake black cab exactly like you did, but this guy charged me only $380 and said "Plus whatever you want to give me for a tip" so I just gave him $400 and told him to keep the change. I didn't realize it was a scam until I downloaded Uber and saw he ripped me off by $350 lol. I'm really glad he didn't try to pull something off like swapping the dollar bills or charging extra tax like he did to you, but nonetheless it was still a fucking scam.

I got scammed too , almost the same pattern from jfk airport, he used a meter and showed me by the time We reached the hotel in times square, asked me to pay in total 200 dollars plus including bridge toll fee etc

Hi bro, I know that this will sound you insane, but the same person scammed me in the same way, it was 2019. He let us go once reached destination after shelling out 300 euros in cash....

One of maxican driver told me he'll go by meter and charge me 200$for 15 min ride. And when i gave him 200$ he suddenly change it with two 1 dollar cash and said to me ,'the number is 200 ma'am , not 2" i was shocked and i actually thought i gave two of 1 dollar cash and gave him extra 200 again (i should be more careful). Anyway i am soo thankful that he did not take me somewhere else and ask money. Please give me the lesson i should learn so i can learn smth next time? 😢

I once got picked up by a taxi at JFK with a friend. I asked him to make 2 stops one for my friend and the final stop for me. My friends house was on the way to mine, and this fcking guy (I swear to Christ this makes me so angry) said that he had to charge 2 fares one for each of us. I said absolutely not (I’m not paying double fare). We quarreled about it for a while and I said let’s talk to the police about this. Lo and behold we passed a couple parked police officers on the road and I basically forced him to pull over and explain to the cops what he just told me. They told him absolutely not and that I was completely right. Be careful ppl. This also isn’t the only time I’ve been attempted for a cab ride hustle. Also if you argue with them about this u can tell if ur getting scammed or not if they get their back up about it and call you “rude”, or “you treat me like slave” which is what this guy said when I started yelling at him to pull over. This type shit really pisses me off and I imagine they try and pick up foreigners and scam them. But locals are harder, and I grew up around a lotta wrongdoing and I know when I see it. Fuck those guys and you should stick it to them when you can cuz fuck them.

You paid him cash and you paid him tax too?

If you have his plate number you can complain to NYC TLC. Or expose him to lot of different platforms. Let me know if you need some help

I’m sure that scammer didn’t even have a TLC plate and probably just a random driver waiting around at JFK trying to rip off tourists
