Fake to Native. Replacing a fake lawn with a wild flower lawn.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Best day ever!!
Removing a weed filled, moss covered fake lawn and preparing the ground for a seed mix for a wildflower lawn.
When they tell you that artificial grass doesn't require any maintenance, they're lying. You do need to clear it of moss, just like a natural lawn and spray off the weeds that germinate in it, just like a real lawn.
This involves time and money, just like a real lawn. So why not just have a real lawn? Where flowers can grow and attract pollinating insects. where birds can feed on bugs and worms. Where soil microbes and invertebrates can behave naturally and thrive. Creating a healthy soil.

I have cast a few wild flower seeds into a patch at the end of my garden. They are seeds i have harvested myself from a local wildflower meadow . Im hoping nature will take its course and we 'll have a show next year. Where do you get your wildflower mix from? Do you make it up yourself? I would like to establish a wild flower spot in the garden.

I do make up most of them myself from seed harvested in my own garden. But this mix, at least some of it, was bought in as individual species. No supplier I could find made up a species list of such low growing stuff.
