I know it happens for one reason of the other. This fake one was a free shipping and that made me buy it thinking it was the real deal.

This is a great video to warn others of the fakes. So glad you got a new one. Garrett is amazing for stepping up on this issue. I hope Garrett finds this company and sues the carp out of them. Again thanks much for the great video :)

Great information Roberto! Garrett is great to work with. I had a pinpointer malfunction and not only did they fix it but it came back to me with a better case bc the tip had been so worn down that it would have a hole in it soon! Anyways any questions I’ve had they always get back to quickly. They also sent me a new pair of wired headphones at no charge when my initial pair failed. Thanks for sharing!

Wow Roberto that was so kind of Garrett to help you with that. There is so many fakes out there. I hate copy companies . Even my own product that I designed and manufactured was copied . Best is to buy from officially authorised distributors or direct from Garrett.

WishMeLuck MetalDetecting I started my own company and made a children’s digital action camera. Then a china factory stole the design and did an OEM design which they try to sell to many people. I lost a lot of money and time. In the end I decided to close my company.

@@ScubaGuy same thing happens here. Many companies are willing to review your ideas to later reject them. But soon you see the same products under their names. That's intellectual property stealing. And if you want to fight, be ready to lose a lot of money in lawyers with no guarantee that you will win. Too bad that happened to you. I was a board game inventor and all of my prototypes were rejected by companies. All they want is to look what you invented to later make some changes and publish them as theirs.

Lo compré por Amazon, imagine todo el costo de envío desde USA para Chile; con el pago de aduana, impuestos, etc. Al final, en una ocasión, lo metí al agua buscando un objetivo y desde ahí comenzó a fallar. De verdad hay que tener mucho cuidado con lo que uno compra. Mi like 43 y un abrazo gigante desde Chile.

Amazon y eBay están llenos de vendedores desalmados y estafadores. Y la cosa es que son muy sofisticados y difíciles de reconocer. Estoy trabajando con mi banco para recuperar mi dinero. A ver qué pasa.

Almost a year with a junk pointer. It was working well, but soon it revealed the cheap technology it was made with.

I never buy any of my equipment from anywhere but the real dealers!! I'm sorry that this happened to you my friend.

Yeah, I learned my lesson. Our usual suppliers are really good. This one was free shipping and I git blinded by it.

When I first started out, I ordered a garrett carrot online and as it turned out, it was a fake! It beeped but wasn’t at all reliable and it did not detect nearly as deep as the real carrot. It even came in a counterfeit garrett box. I ended up contacting Garrett as well, they confirmed it was a fake and I ended up ordering a real one from an authorized dealer.

I have been scammed a few times. I think that at some point we will all be. They are becoming so sophisticated that it is very difficult to tell.

I've heard of this scam before. E-Bay has always been on the buyers side in my experiences with them. Good Luck finding the guy who sold you the fake one.

Halfway through an Ebay purchase before I realised the sellers business is in China, have asked seller to cancel the order but even though the status only shows as paid, Ebay,s automation says I can't cancel as already dispatched. I have alerted Ebay of a possible counterfeit citing Garrett's website which says any of their products sent from China are fake. This seller says item is being shipped from Ireland, on their negative feedback one buyer says their product was sent from China. Hope I get my money back.

That’s why I quit using eBay. There’s no screening process for counterfeits there. eBay should reimburse you. I always use a credit card so that I can refute a charge more easily. At least Garrett is a standup company!
