Fake It - to control your digital identity: Pernille Tranberg at TEDxOxford

Your personal data is the oil of today -- the digital economy is built on it. Companies are tracking and analysing every move we make. The Danish journalist Pernille Tranberg, who wrote the book "Fake It - Your Guide to Digital Selfdefense" with the German journalist Steffan Heuer, explains what happens with your data, what it can cost you now and in years to come. And she lays out how you can protect yourself with a variety of easy-to-use tools, one is using multiple identities.
TEDxOxford is organised by University of Oxford students, aiming to bring together the young minds of tomorrow's world with the movers and shakers of today. TEDxOxford is kindly sponsored by Neptune Investment Management - www.neptunefunds.com
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Yeah but the point is to isolate some amount of activity to a particular identity. Things will be linked by IP addresses, but if you maintain separate activities you will create distinct online identities. No easy feat, but it's a tool.

Hi I am new to using computers. But doing a course I had to use it to do research and purchase books. Then later every time a went to another sight which had nothing to do with it A message would come out to greet me. How did it know it was me. I use my daughters password to get in. I do not wish these advertisements or messages taunting me. Should I wear a full length berquer ? My daughter says just do'nt push any keys agreeing to anthing.

The problem with fake identities is that just as you can predict who is pregnant, you can figure out which fake accounts belong to whom by correlating preferences and activities.

WE DO NOT COMPLY !! WE LOVE FREEDOM. NOT ENSLAVEMENT !!!! if you accept tech ID, then you given % of your privileged to poor countries that corporations in that country to become more POWERFUL and bring themselves in your turf soil!!!!!!!! How would you feel that you are not chipped and you partner is. THEY ALREADY KNOW YOUR HABITS WHEN YOU ARE AROUND YOUR PARTNER. You say I can opt out with a phone, but not with a chip.... well as long as someone near you has a chip on, your phone can send a RFID signal back to the chip and back... BS ...DO NOT LET THIS VAMPIRES DO IT TO YOU

sorry if my question is a bit heretical but why humans have the right for anonymity in a digital world? They have this right in an analog world because some fight for it. Humans today only enjoy the benefits of digital world and their personal data is the price that they should pay. (just my opinion I am open to any deferend theory)
