Since making this video - I recommend using lightweight spackling instead of caulking for the fake frosting. The caulking is very thick and harder to work with and smooth out. I have since made several fake cakes with light weight spackling and it worked perfectly. Link in description box for affordable lightweight spackling from Amazon. 🤗

Awesome...and I hope it turns out great! Although I have to tell you I think mine came out a little too realistic looking because I got home the other day to find my 3 year old took a little nibble out of one of the clay macrons. Poor little guy thought he was snagging a treat and got some clay in his mouth.

Hi there! Thanks so much for checking out my videos. I use these for decoration pieces. We do a Candyland themed Christmas tree every year and I started making the fake cupcakes because I couldn’t find any cupcake ornaments that looked realistic. The fake cakes are so much fun because I display them on my kitchen countertop. Everyone who comes to our house wants to know why we have such a fun cake out. If I get bored with the cake - I pull the decorations off the cake and make a new one (usually a different theme for each holiday). I hope this gives you some ideas.

Also - a viewer of mine mentioned she made the cupcake ornaments for a Christmas dinner party and put the ornaments on each place setting as a gift for her guests to take home. I thought that was a great idea as well!

Are you sure don’t want to get into the cake baking business? Because your fake cake looks so good! 😍 You are so creative and talented! Decorating is always the fun part for me too. I love the pastel colors on the top. Wow, that’s good that your fake cupcakes lasted 12 years without any bugs! I always have ants invading my house in the summer so they wouldn’t stand a chance 😅 The sprinkles are a nice touch and a good trick to cover up mistakes if any. I bet your kids were wishing this was a real cake!

Oh yes Greyson is always trying to “taste” my fake decorations. Poor thing...I have him so confused! Yes the first set of cupcakes I ever made...I still have 3 of them and everything is still intact. Shocking and makes me wonder what preservatives are in them for them to last so long. 🧐

Denise...ah thanks for letting me know and I will fix my link. I recommend buying at least 2 (4oz packages). Here is a link to the 4oz white model magic: amzn.to/2X1jSdb (I highly recommend buying the white color and then painting the model magic when it dries), otherwise buying the pastel colors gets really pricey and you probably will not land up needing a bucket of model magic. Hi Ashley - it is light pink iridescent glitter from hobby lobby. It is my favorite glitter to use because it looks like sugar crystal sprinkles.

The air dry clay is possible but they will be much heavier. She may also need to make them much thicker as well. I think she can pull it off though! Best of luck to her!

Hi there…you can definitely pull decorations off and probably re-spackle it but the “frosting” might not come off all together.

Yes it is terribly difficult to smooth. Do you have a cake smoother? That helps. Also, since making this video - for my fake cakes I now only use light weight spackling. It is so much easier to smooth than caulking. I’m sorry you had trouble with it. I am going to add a pinned comment to this video that I recommend using lightweight spackling. It is so much easier to work with.
