Well bone Billy for shining a light on this despicable practice and thank you Brian for just being you and looking out for the genuine ones. God bless you.

Same here I can spot the ones who are blagging it ! How do I do it ? Simple ! I was homeless on the streets for 2 years ! Ended up in hospital weighing 6 stone ! From hospital into homeless hostel in fareham which luckily helped me massively! Got a sublet from 2 saints homeless people and then made secure tenant. Met my now wife in homeless hostel ! I consider myself very very lucky ! I went from having everything to having nothing a a very short space of time ! Since then I always have time for genuine homeless people ! You never know what their background is ! Or why they've ended up where they are ! And NOT ALL ARE INTO DRINK/DRUGS ! some get into it as a coping mechanism for being on the street !

Virtually no actual homeless people beg, most self-respecting heroin addicts graft from shops, only a very small percentage beg and they are always known by other members of the town/city's homeless, sofa-surfing communities. As in, "Oh, Greeny, yeah we saw him out begging on Friday he wasn't looking well, wouldn't have been begging if he wasn't feeling poorly." The money is always for drugs, always. If you're willing to give someone a fiver and are just curious, tell them they can have it you don't mind if it's for drugs just as long as they can show you some respect by telling you the truth. Do it 10 times, 50 quid research project at 5 quid a time and I guarantee you'll get 10, "yeah it's for drugs". After that you can give or not give in the future supplied with all the relevant information you need. If it makes it any easier, in terms of minimising human suffering, if someone really is feeling rough through withdrawal and you can help remove that even temporarily then it isn't wasted effort. It can be bloody awful, absolutely soul-crushing. God I am glad that I got back on an even keel, thank God, it is 6 years later and over half the people in our local hostel have died since. Start of winter now, it'll start dropping more as nighttime temperatures slump down.

There used to be a fella at the side of M&S who sold the Big issue, cracking fella who always chatted to the people. One day he was gone, replaced by a foreign fella, who no doubt took over his pitch. I do hope he's OK? You always see the fakers outside Aldi with Big Issues. Don't give them a penny. I always have a chat to the fella outside Home Bargain on Hanover Street, give him a few bob and get him some bits in from the shop. Another nice fella outside Primark, usually get him some t-shirts and socks. Talk to them. They're human beings. Makes me grateful to have a roof over my head and some food.

Shame on them for not putting pressure on the police to clean up the streets and get shut of all these alcoholics, drug users and aggressive beggars that just sit taking crack, injecting heroin and leaving needles all over the pavements. People forget about the amount of blood filled needles and burnt foil they discard, the way they use pavements and doorways as toilets and smash bottles on pavements and roads. The Council cleaning team has to go around early every morning at extra cost to those of us that bother to work and pay tax, just to clean up after these Fake Homeless people. They are revolting. I have seen a few security videos of fake homeless having their drink and drug parties, starting fires, making a mess and often having to have ambulances attend for overdoses. They should be ashamed of themselves, but don't care as do-gooders start crying about how hard it is for them!

Homeless is usually caused by by bad choices! Drugs bad relationships ego gambling and most of all living beyond means to impress others and can't afford to pay it back. If new £100 trainers drugs drinks ciggs ect are more important than rent food and bills its self Induced and it will catch up with u. Life is a load of hassles, and you die, but priorities and morals make your life so much better. Once you get that right, then buy your drugs drink amd what u desire. A lot of Homeless people have had chances with housing associations and council housing they abuse it and their name gets black listed. Self blame has to be accounted for as its easy to point the finger.

Im currently struggling with redundancy, but in the future if theres any ways in which I personally can help Id like you to ask me and your viewers to do so, as we are all closer to being homeless than we realise in this current society we live in. Sadly, what you and others are seeing is fake homeless people, just after something for nothing and wanting attention. Walk straight past them on the streets, they are criminals, drug users and liars trying to con you before they go home as they did during lockdown.

The councils don't care. It's all virtue signaling, but when it comes down to it, they do the bare minimum they can get away with, and still even try to avoid doing that. All throughout government from local to national, you have a bunch of yes men and women pushing globalist policies. Ultimately though it's the voters who are to blame for voting these con artists in to power every election, despite knowing and experiencing the consequences.

They don't, the Council and local businesses have a number of projects in place for GENUINE people to use. Genuine people do use them and there is no reason to spend a second night on the streets. Unless you start accepting the fake homeless you see on the streets are people with mental health issues, drug addictions and are being controlled by criminal gangs the police ignore, you will never move forward. Start sending out a zero tolerance message as Chester, Ellesmere Port, Manchester and Preston did - they just shift the fake homeless and if that means arresting them and putting them in prison, so be it. The fake homeless all went home during lockdown, so there is no excuse for them to lie about being homeless and sitting out on the streets all day. It is a lifestyle choice for them.

I've only given to one homeless person. He was a young guy of maybe 20. My friends and I were out having a daytime drink in London and we were approached by this young guy. We got talking, and whilst being a bit shocked at his age and quite obvious intelligence we bought him a coffee and a sandwich so he could sit with us. We talked for 30 minutes maybe a bit more and unbeknown to the lad we all decided to try and help him the only way we knew how .... With cash. We made him promise he wasn't taking drugs (he admitted to liking a drink) and when asked what he would do with some money. He said he'd get a room (it was Autumn so cold). We left and gave him almost £200. Maybe a bit naïve, but we really wanted to help him. Six or so hours later, we all headed back to the same tube station to go home and this same young guy walks up and says ''Can you spare a few quid please?''. We looked at each other expecting a laugh to bellow out. It didn't. We looked closer and his eyes were rolling into the back of his head. I said ''You alright mate. I thought you were getting a room''. More of a statement than a question. He did not reply and was now looking very unsteady. ''Do you remember us mate?'' I asked. He mumbled something and then replied ''yeah ...... Have you got a few quid please. I need a room and I'm hungry''. I will not and have not given to another homeless person since. The true ones are few and far between, especially in our larger cities and I'm afraid to say most have problems, be that substance, mental health or alcohol issues that you will only exacerbate by giving directly.

I would not be surprised if those professional beggars are on benefits as well as their boss picking up the rent money from the government. They don't appear to be trafficked but if they were doing another street activity the police would be rescuing them. The public must be gullible enough or they wouldn't be sitting there.

Billy, i have recently moved to chester a lovely city. I am utterly shocked at the level of homelessness around here its a disgrace. Why are we putting illegal immigrants in hotels or adapted accommodation but not our own homeless, its a terrible indictment of our governments and politicians. Keep up your good work and highlighting all kinds of issues. Good luck to you lad.

It's done to distract people from the real problems and to make people angry at immigrants. The homeless have been homeless for decades. The faces change mainly due to the short lifespan which is around the mid 40's but the problem is part of the system.

Well done for highlighting this problem pal. It's happening everywhere and little is done. The government are completely to blame. They have dried up almost every resource and don't seem to care. I'm a postie in York and there is a similar problem, however nowhere near the scale that Liverpool has. On a Saturday morning on my way to work, I always stop at Sainsbury's and buy a bag of food/water etc for any homeless I then pass on my way. I got chatting to a poor lad one morning and he had only been homeless a week. He was from Scarborough and told me his mum had died and because he had lost his job washing pots in a pub, the council had evicted him from his home that he had lived all his life with his mum. I could tell that he had slight learning difficulties and I asked him why he was in York? He said " my mum loved York" then he broke down in tears. He had nobody! I gave what I had and told him of a few places that I was aware of that could help, and we parted. This poor lad needed love as much as a home. I haven't seen him since. It's absolutely heartwrenching what's happening on our streets. More awareness is needed and thankfully videos like this will help! 🙏

We fed about 18 homeless people, 14 of them where fake and 4 where real it's shocking. Tesco by court had two signed "homeless" people saying "hungry bla.. the same as the cardboards shown here I offered him a package of food from my donation of breakfast bars, cakes, crisps, flapjacks, a milkshake etc. I took 7 coats I don't warr anymore to give to qny cold homeless, some said yes and later abandoned the coat for us later to find. Also some refused a coat and these coats were for warmth so clear indication they weren't that hungry or cold. Feel robbed. Doesn't give up my help for genuine people mind! 🙏🏼

I seen you walking through St John’s the other day Bill. I never did come over to say hello and get a photo as I would never put people on the spot like that. I can relate to this video, every person I used to walk past begging I couldn’t help but throw a couple of quid over. My dad works with the homeless in Birkenhead and was the first to enlighten me about why I shouldn’t, as not all of them are legitimately homeless. In fact, one of the lads he came across was bragging about how he had a 10 night all inclusive holiday booked in Turkey but was still begging on the street. Please, if you want to genuinely help the homeless, do it another way.

Just help the real homeless. I have been homeless and would have died if not for people helping. Its all good to say help Shelter but they only help a small number and your money paying their wages is not helping those who are desperate on the street. Just use your eyes and judge if they are actually homeless. Real people look rough and have sad eyes.

I was in Edinburgh 5 years ago. Down the Main Street (Princess St) I walked past at least a dozen beggars, all with identical signs, pleading poverty. Later in the day, a Ford transit appeared and they all got into it. Even the Big Issue seller had to move, to find a free space where she could sell her magazine. We bought one and she was very grateful. I’d like to think that the authorities have worked out what’s going on and stopped it, but I’m doubtful.

Dear Billy Thank you for highlighting the disparity and plight of our genuine brothers & sisters in the beautiful City of Liverpool who are GENUINELY homeless !!! I think we have a simillar problem here !!! I live in South East England, the Capital W1. Here we have a huge amount of romani gypsies hustling under the control of Albania / Moldovo gangs. All of which are part of the East European OCG !!!!! This is NOT new but has been happening many, many years in the whole of United Kingdom. It's just that they have adapted over time ...... I am extremely interested in your news of Liverpool, and listen very, very carefully. In the South East they blame the old school traditional gangs fo giving up territory in return for the quiet meditteranean life of Spain, and now Thailand. What on earth is this country coming to ..... And this translates into the heart of our streets of our homeless brothers & sisters .... God bless you all. I just wish I could do so, so much more .....
