Her Voice has matured people. It boggles my mind that people expect her to open her mouth and sound how she did 10 years ago... Her voice has deepened and it sounds beautiful!

If i was ever born again and i could return as a singer i would choose to have Faith's voice.

Blimey - she NAILED it. How can this fabulous woman at 44 sing with this quality (and passion)! If anything the voice has improved in depth (and certainly in that gorgeous huskiness shes famed for). OK she didnt attempt the very high sustained note in the live version - but then very few would. And this is so full of sheer CLASS you dont even miss it. Yes - it's a cover - but again one of those RARE covers that I think actually beats the original. I pay homage to her .... (from the U.K.)

The look on Tim's face, at the end, shows how in tune he is with his wife - he knows that she was "off" and that this was not her best work! Love you anyway, Faith - you sounded hoarse, though, as if you were fighting a cold virus! However, kudos to her for never showing it in her actions or face - she still gave it her all, albeit the struggling!

Love the new Song! I am a Soldier about to deploy again, I think I will play this daily to remind me of those I am leaving behind that want me to come back home.

She was sharp allright - razor sharp - but perfectly in tune (apart from at 3.41 where one dreadful, stray wailing keyboard note throws her slightly off key but that wasn't her fault).. Absolutely outstanding performance. Better than the recorded studio version - and voice is better (and deeper) than ever.

To Faith, You have really done a beautiful job with this song. Watching the video of you sing it at the CMA's was just wonderful. You should be proud of how you and your band really did on this song. I cannot wait to listen to the rest of the album. If this is the start of the album....I am sure it will go further than any ever have. This is made with your heart....we out here feel it.

Someone said that this is standard for Faith when she performs; I was really surprised. She's got a great voice and I hope she doesn't do anything more to distract from him. When I heard her one time "just sing" I was amazed. Wish I could remember the song, as she did with no attention grabbing mechanics; just soul. She even said in an interview she considers herself a "soul singer" not a "country singer" & I found that to be really interesting. Hope she does more sometime. 5 yrs is a long time.

What Faith did with this song - was to bring it truly alive. She took it into a different league. She just has that capacity ((so rare). Original song writers take note - and deliver her somthing truly outstanding. PLEAAASE. (and beyond 'Country'). But don't dilly dally - there aint much time ....

I'm grabbing the 200th like ! 200 to 4 at moment. That tells ya a lot abolut quality oif this. Also I much prefer this version. And more to the point so do O.R. themselves.!

A huge slap to the sound engineer. I love Faith but she must be given some dimension and echo to ride this song. This moving song is about emoting and not about the flatness of how the mic conflate her vocals.

Many divas at 44, with three daughters and no mortgage, its true would let the moment pass - and cruise (and croon) comfortably into middle age and retirement. But not Faith - she clearly adores this song and it shows (which is what makes it such a great cover).

@nercole94hellyeah Sound is good on this apart from a mistake by synth player at 3.40 (unfortunately in a laid back bit), which throws Faith off key - not her fault. But apart from that - its a great and very full on sound production with a well ballanced mix (and Faith sitting prettily in that mix). I listen to it on quality cans and it sounds fantastic ...and so does she. So can't see what your getting at.

jlalewicz; I agree. The stage makeup was a bit much. In her interview w Robin Roberts, Faith has hardly any make up and looks flawless.

@Faithhillisthebest2 Good point - they had five years to come up with a good song choice for Faith's 'come back' and Ryan supplied this because it perfectly matched her voice NOW, which is deeper and richer than it was even ten years ago (yet can still hit those high sweet spots) - which is why this cover sounds so terrific. Yes - an original would have been great - but better a brilliant cover using a quality song - than a second rate original.

@ChiefReso That may be true of the U.S. - but not elsewhere in the world. Apart from a little bit in Australia - she's pretty much unknown elsewhere. You can see that too when you look at the KZread demographic maps showing where she's most listened to. It's virtually all in the States. Shame though .... 'cause its a little bit late now. But she is the TOPS.

Why she was sitting next to Tim McGraw I've no idea (he could have tipped her off her chair). And no - she wasnt looking fondly at Faith at all. I got that wrong too. She was thinking: (yes - she's goood - but I'm young, cool ... and the FUTURE so IIII'M gonaa win .... HA!). But it's the voice that will be remembered - and that belongs to Faith.

One bit that IS better on this live version than the studio version is the end section from 4.00 where it changres key. This is mishandled on the studio version where it sounds messy and muddled. But live - Faith lets rip and vocalises the end bit - simply superbly. What a pity producer (who was it?) didnt't just let her do that on the studio version and keep it simple .....

@mel5198758331 Well 'pitchy' means covered in tar - and she's certainly not that. It's a made up word they use on American Idol (rest of us have never heard of it) and usually means 'you dont like the way she sings it'. But if you mean she's singing sharp or flat - no she's perfectly 'pitched'. She uses vibratto (but more in studio version) which slightly oscilates pitch on occasion, but that sounds terrific. But no - she's pretty much 'tarless' in this perfirmance

1st time listening to this version. To my mind, this version is a tad slow, making the vocal more challenging. And, I don't know if it's the player or the mix, but the rhythm guitar that's so prominent in the original too far back. The original has a much more driving, yet restrained, quality.

TOO PERFECTION (apart from the keyboard error which throws her off). And as for hoarseness - that's the trade mark Faith Hill huskiness which makes her voice so adorable and breathlessly exciting. It's why I love her so and why she stands out from the crowd (including Taylor) ... So I'm afraid I have to disagree
