Faisal Muqaddam ‘Enlightenment Happens In The Heart’ Interview by Iain McNay

Faisal Muqaddam ‘Enlightenment Happens In The Heart’ Interview by Iain McNay
Faisal talks about his life; his enlightenment, and how awakening happens in the mind, and enlightenment happens in the heart. He also talks about how he formed the Ridhwan school with AH Almaas and helped develop the 'theory of holes' and work with the Latiaf and essential qualities and enquiry. He later left to form his own teaching, 'The Diamond Logos.' 'The more that understanding comes through, the more the personality begins to resolve and we can retrieve the original state that is lost.' 'In our world today two major topics need to be emphasized; humanity needs to be spiritualized and spirituality needs to be humanized'

Great interview indeed .Faisal is sweet :) I had the blessing of studying with Prof. Naranjo for 10 years ( besides Kashmir Shaivism before him and Tibetan Buddhism parallel to SAT ) , and now , after more than 20 years journeying ( i'm 40 ) , i understand what Faisal is talking about . I don't know if he mentions Jung and uses junguian concepts in his aproach , but that's how the 'path of salvation' , the individuation process , came to me( together with the Western Mystery Tradition) .Anyway , loving and very interesting interview , Ian .Thank you , thanks Faisal .

Many people talking about this idea these days with the key phrase being embodiment or embodied awakening including my own approach Trillium Awakening (also Waking Down in Mutuality). Faisal just says it with the incredible discrimination that comes from his part of the world. Beautiful.

Very very inspirational and illuminating. Let's embrace our humanity, the persona we are in this lifetime is a one-shot deal! You have an extremely soothing and mesmerizing voice Faisal. I love your take/perspective on the ego. We could profit by giving it serious consideration. What if the magic and miracle of awakening is wholeheartedly embracing and experiencing being a unique human being? Wow, how fresh and enlightening. The endless journey unfolds... Thank you Faisal and Iain/conscioustv.

Between Hameed, Johnson and Faisal, other teachers rarely seem to measure up for me anymore. Except for Naranjo. I love his works. Faisal seems just so genuine and direct. He very much gets to exactly why I can't stand Vedanta.

They're overly fixated on the macrocosm as opposed to the microcosm. I'm more interested in the personal essence or pearl or sage, or true person rather than being the cosmic Brahman, or staying cosmic. As one said has said: I don't want to be sugar, I want to taste sugar.

@David Bell: Your points are well taken against most Vedanta. But I don't think the Ridhwan school escapes such criticism either, as Faisal discusses at 48:44 . . .

Beautiful! Thank you for this wonderful interview. Faisal Muqaddam's view provides a loving place for the ego in the nondual universe of self-denying egos seeking their own obliteration into "oneness."

I enjoyed this, the analogy of becoming the impeccable warrior who has to push through the suffering, facing the ultimatum of enlightenment or death. I find it funny how suffering reveals itself to be the necessary catalyst to move from head to heart, and to top it all off we were already enlightened! wow, at first, my mind was telling this is going to be boring and then it just got better and better. there were alot of take aways but the best one was his idea of the ego being part of the soul. I started to think this way a couple of months ago but could not find any reference anywhere. Iain: you and your wife are good beings may the universes bring you both joy and peace.

@Manu Poosah: Have you ever noticed that no one seems to talk about the Lataif at length, putting their significance into context (?) If you google "lataif" . . . there's less information available about them than one would expect for their comparative importance. Sort of odd . . .

@@QED_ That may be because it is an esoteric teaching one has to receive directly from one's shaykh. Not all information about the fine points of Sufi practice is publicly available.

@Brian Harris: Sure -- that's traditional (even if problematic to justify in this day and age). I was just supporting the OP's comment: it would have been useful for a lot of viewers if McNay's priorities had been different and viewers had gotten something more specific about the Lataif from this video. ALSO: of course, you never know what you don't know, so there could be useful untranslated materials available about the Lataif out there somewhere. But I'm inclined to think not. Instead, I think the Lataif are for some reason massively misunderstood and underappreciated even in Sufi literature (compared to, say, the Chakras or Chi in Indian and Chinese literature). Ala ud-Daula Simnani's account of the Lataif, for example, is experientially almost unrecognizable. And even Idries Shah, who in contrast gets the general characteristics right (colors and locations), turns out to only know them second hand and not from any personal experience . . .

I find this trust in enneagrams confusing. Not so much the system in itself., but how there doesn't seem to be a basic consent on what the numbers mean. Each 'enneagram teacher' seems to have very different views on the meaning of the numbers.
