Honestly what I do with synthetic hair is wash it with shampoo and conditioner, add a heat resistant lotion / or moisturizer and a heat resistant, and flat iron at the lowest degree it can withstand. If the flat iron is too high, it will burn. If the flat iron is too low, it won't work. But there is a just right temperature. Then, after flat ironing, I can style it how I want. Also, if there are still fizzy end, just snip them off hold the scissors in a vertical (up and down) angle, not horizon (side ways) angle so the hair cut looks natural. I never even knew about the boiling method.

I'm not sure where the idea of boiling a wig came from common sense is severely lacking here. Boiling water, no matter the material a wig is made of, would ever make sense. Synthetic wigs, even the ones made to resist heat and can be styled by heated tools, are still basically made from some type of plastic. And even the o es made from petrochemical plastics that can handle heat are only recommended to be used with the lowest heat settings on styling tools and come with warnings not to apply heat for more than 10 seconds at a time. Yes some plastic based materials like used in food storage containers are dishwasher safe but a dishwasher used only the hottest water available to it from the water heater and they are only considered top row safe as they cannot be exposed to close to the heating coil during a dry cycle. Boiling a synthetic wig in water will esse really cook the material, which is made into very thin strands of the product, which makes it more fragile and susceptible to damage or melting from heat. Leaving it Boiling like a pot of vegetables is going to melt stands together. A synthetic wig that is not labeled as being able to be heat styled actually should not be exposed to even hot water like you would shower with, and care instructions usually say cool or lukewarm water. There is no synthetic hair, if any kind known to tolerate exposure to Boiling water Temps, even if just poured over it as a rinse. Heat tolerant synthetics normally recommend lukewarm water, and if hot is to be used, it is not hotter than shower temperature hot, although ever heat-resistant wigs will show damage if in a hot shower for a period of time. If the strands are not melted, the boiling water removes chemical coatings on the stands that help them act like hair - which is why the water was so discolored and muddy looking when you stopped cooking it. Even wigs made from human hair would be ruined by being boiled as human hair would quickly have all its natural oils boiled off in a few seconds and human hair once cut and no longer attached to the scalp has no way to replenish its natural oils. Even using oils and treatments during or after boiling can't replace the original natural ones healthy hair is coated with. Even a very hot shower us known to remove those natural oils and the results are normally very fuzzy and unmanageable hair that may never recover. Basically hot water is bad for any hair, real or synthetic. The wig would possibly been saved using a synthetic wig conditioner (using hair products for real hair are worthless when used on synthetics) and having combed it through thecwig from ends to roots, allowing it to sit over night and then rinsing in cool water and combing it out again gently while wet from ends to roots. If itsxavheat tolerant synthetic, style with low heat using a heat protectant spray for synthetics. If it's not a wig the can be heat styled all you can really do is style it while damp back into its original style, or as close to its original as possible.
