I'm not originally from NYC- but when I moved here from the opposite side of the country, it became a real eye opener for me. It's definitely a cultural experience of it's own. I would never go to the top of the rock high af, let alone at all. In fact I've been here a few years and still havent seen any of the tourist traps.
