Factorio Base Tour - Faulkner's 10k SPM, 13,000 Hour Factory with HUGE Trains
Ойындар
In this video we do another Factory Base Tour, covering Faulkner's 10k SPM Megabase that uses HUGE trains with over 100 wagons, bots and belts to create a sprawling factory. There is over 13,000 hours of time on this map, and more rockets launched than I've EVER seen before! This is truly the biggest factory / map I've ever seen in my time playing Factorio. Wait until you see the all time production graph and number of rockets launched, as well as how big the actual map is.

Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories.
You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies. Use your imagination to design your factory, combine simple elements into ingenious structures, apply management skills to keep it working and finally protect it from the creatures who don't really like you.
Join forces with other players in cooperative Multiplayer, create huge factories, collaborate and delegate tasks between you and your friends. Add mods to increase your enjoyment, from small tweak and helper mods to complete game overhauls, Factorio's ground-up Modding support has allowed content creators from around the world to design interesting and innovative features. While the core gameplay is in the form of the freeplay scenario, there are a range of interesting challenges in the form of the Scenario pack, available as free DLC. If you don't find any maps or scenarios you enjoy, you can create your own with the in-game Map Editor, place down entities, enemies, and terrain in any way you like, and even add your own custom script to make for interesting gameplay.

Fun fact: When Germany invaded the USSR, hundreds of factories producing war material such as ammunition were evacuated over the Ural mountains. A single ammunition factory that was evacuated used about 7000 rail cars. So, this is still nothing compared to a real factory... either that or the Soviets hadn't figured out making rail cars bigger on the inside yet.

@@kibkatara1204 DLSS is a feature that dynamicly reduces resolution to achieve stable frame rates so that is a moot point. Also while the game is not demanding graphicly it has a lot of moving parts compared to a typical game that focuses on graphics and simple systems in comparison, and the fps only gets low when your base is ridiculously huge with an extreme amount of calculations. Also no one is running graphicly demanding games at 100fps at 8k and RTX turned on, just not a possibility right now so that is just a big exaggeration.

This factory consumes *2 million units* of water *per minute* - for a total of *1 trillion* during play time. To put that into perspective: If we assume that one unit of water is a standard _barrel_ then this base consumes the entire waterflow of the Niagara river at its mouth (or Niger, Uruguay, Detroit, etc. - they are all in the same ballpark) - i.e. if you put the falls into this base, the basin would stay empty.

They will all be used. I jumped over many of the early patches because they just use to be used up too fast. Now productivity is 14000 I am coming back to 20 Million patches as they are worth it. They tend to last several months which makes putting a train on them worthwhile. The occasion patch has been built over and I might not go back from them. A few times I was just desperate for power and plonked down solar over the top of a patch.

I agree with you saying this is the biggest base made without commands and whatnot and even those bases don't have over 2 million rockets launched. When I see a megabase save and see the infinity symbol in their crafting I don't count it as real and won't even bother to download the save and even then those bases normally have big stalls in it's production and the rhythm's messed up. Great video of this base and since the base is fully functional, I downloaded it. Thanks :)
One thing to say about these junctions is that many trains are so huge that common sense doesn’t apply anymore. The short chain sections of traditional junctions are irrelevant when the trains are so much longer still. And then what are you going to do if you have two junctions within 800 meters of each other? Correct signaling would put them all in the same chain section. That’s the scope of junction design now. You can see how unconventional arrangements come into play here. I imagine throughput could still be good with so many wagons traveling back to back, and with long sections guaranteeing a decent average speed despite slow acceleration whenever it’s free.
@Xterminator
3 жыл бұрын
Yup you are exactly right. Sometimes with these custom super long trains, the typical junction design goes out the window a bit

Each train is roughly enough materials that you could not only launch a rocket but build a base from scratch to launch a rocket. Somebody once added up every thing needed to build the most basic base and launch a rocket. It was something like 480k Iron and about 400k copper which is roughly what the train holds. You also need 2 wood which no train has 😉 Xterm if you read this the 2 wood is for the very first power pole.

Why use productivity in miner when it has 12,000% already. Adds 30% only, beyond miniscule. Better to put speed modules to boost the speed of that 12k%. I guess either way it doesn't matter.

Your absolutely right. If you spotted some miners with prod mods in they are rare and not normal. Sometimes when I get down to the last dregs of a patch there isn't quiet enough to keep the smelters running flat out. When that's the case if I have some prod or speed modules on me and I'm passing I'll bang them in just to keep it going flat out for a few days longer. At the start of a new patch when I chuck down like 50 miners to cover it all I never bother with any modules at all.

@@scottbarbary5112 that's a good point. It's so massive there will be oversight or simply you didn't have speed modules on you when you placed them and why return when they are already churning out ore. On second thought them belts are already completely maxed I'm sure speed won't help either lol. Thanks.

@@Alex-bl8uh Well Unfortunately the map is dead. In the end I had launched just over 5 Million Rockets and had Mining Prod of over 16000%. However it turns out that factorio has a technical limit to how long a Map can last which is 4 Billion ticks of UPS. There is a work around however you lose all your stats and there are some problems, so I decided to take a break from the map and play a new map. I'm waiting for the expansion and then I may start a new map.

can i see the 13k hour in game?
Additional comment on FPS.. move from nuclear to solar power is also a way to get better FPS as solar unfortunately is still in Factorio 1.1 way better for FPS than nuclear power... I go steam - nuclear until main base (and often 2nd intermediate base) is complete and up - then transition to solar when solar train is up and running fully and solar power is more than nuclear power. Sad as I love the nuclear plant layouts and look. Not many uses of centrifuges and they are cool looking machines. And on top of this - using console command to remove pollution really helps FPS - and at this stage both pollution and biters are not needed and can be removed to help the fps... Removing pollution actually helps a lot more than removing biters FYI....
@scottbarbary5112
2 жыл бұрын
Your right about removing pollution but the point of this map is 100% vanilla with no mods. So pollution and bitters stay even though they eat up the UPS. I also love nuclear and I'm sad it has to go. One of the changes the game could do with is a use for Uranium in the normal science production. I have often put forward that you could use nuclear train fuel instead of rocket fuel for lunching rockets and then it uses less actual rocket fuel to launch a rocket.
Just got this game 2 days ago. I have no idea what I'm doing here. This looks diabolical, I'm truly terrified considering I have an extreme desire towards farm/crafting/building games... and time to blow after work but need to crash by 11pm.. Pray for my well being. This game is great for defending Alzheimer's right?
