Having watched a fair share of runs, I can only say: this one is on another level. I‘ve never *felt* this level of ease during seeing someone just destroy this game. And theres starcraft pros out there who wish they were this precise with the mouse.

Planning and execution are just amazing well done! I can see after watching a few of your videos where you are making improvements and saving time but it is mind boggling how incredible the execution is Wow!

What *should* be most impressive is the plan. However what I find most impressive is the execution. Goddamn that tech and accuracy are unreal. I know anyone can learn those skills w practice, and that the factory plan is where creativity shines, but the APM is most jaw dropping. The highest compliment I can give is that I actually watched this video in 1x speed. Unheard of.

I think I'm not good enough at the game to actually get how insane the planning is. I know it is, it's quite obvious, but my mind just kind of blanks as it's outside of my reach to really understand it. The execution though, it's just there for me to see and I'm in fucking awe. The speed and accuracy... he's just on par with the best StarCraft players.

1) Mostly to avoid cutting it in the middle of a sentence/word. 2) Splits after bots are meaningless since there are no clear split points that provide accurate information. I only keep yellow as a joke cause my chat complains I don't have enough splits :)

The settings are turned up pretty much all the way since this is any%. Nothing is missing from the run, I just tend to keep the first 5 or so seconds before a reset in the upload.

This is amazing! I can't believe the time is getting so low! This feels like a stupid question, but what's the purpose of the weird chest buffer at the end of the steel lines? It seems like you're trying to build up your steel storage but I can't figure out what benefit this has over a more standard method of putting it into a single chest

You can't get enough throughput in/out of a single chest for the original lane, and there's no real benefit to changing it after it's it copied to the shorter lanes since it's such a small handful of extra entities

How do the map generation settings influence the run if a set map seed is allowed? i.e. Aren't you able to practice the same map over and over again until you've optimized it as best as possible? I noticed at the beginning of this video you re-started, but if it is the same map, shouldn't everything always be in the same place? btw - great video, you make it look easy enough for us to do it too, though reality is most of us would be lost after the first minute :)

Everything is in the same spot, but the big rocks are RNG dependent. (Ranging from 24-50 coal/stone) At the time I was only getting enough coal/stone like a quarter of the time, though shortly after this one I switched to a slightly different start which made like 90% of runs playbe (Costs a couple seconds off the final time, but saved me like 10 minutes of resetting each attempt) There was some consistency in the rocks since the game is deterministic, so you start to recognize a few rolls.

I dont know why but for some reason the thumbnail seems familiar and idk why i have a memory of seeing the miner pyramid moment from before this run was ever posted. Then again 3 months ago might be longer than i realise

any% allows for any map generation settings and can use a set a seed. There is a default settings category, though, which uses random seeds.

Definitely! 8 hours can be achieved with a very small base. Blueprints also help a lot for the getting the achievement. You really only need to get to bots within like 6-7 hours, then the bots can finish everything automatically afterwards.

I'm curious as to why you build pipes between your steam turbines? when you can just connect them directly to each other and the boiler. Otherwise, your speed and accuracy are impressive.

With only small power poles you need to have pipes + poles in-between the steam engines. You can stagger the steam engines and save a few pipe but it's generally not worth the added complexity.

The base/build order/crafting is pretty much the same each run. Since the map is the same too I use a mix of counting/of patches/pieces of grass as reference points. The random seed categories tend to be similar but with different ore connections each time.

Ctrl + click to quick remove things from a building, or put things in if there's an item in your cursor. Z drops an individual item (good for furnaces)

The locations are the same, but the amount you get from the coal rocks varies based on when you mine them

Launching a rocket using whatever map genrator settings you want. Set seeds are allowed. Blueprint imports are not (you can create blueprints within the run though)

Worst speedrun in the galaxy. Not just in Factorio, but in any game. Here's your first mistake, you keep forgetting t- nah just joking lol. Speedrun is so good that I'm so jealous that it puts me in pain.

Enabling "Peaceful mode" and using a set "Map seed" is allowed. • Importing blueprints is NOT allowed. However, you may use blueprints created during the run. Petite traduction au cas où du troisième point:"Choix libres des paramètres de génération de map. Activer le mode Peaceful and utiliser une seed sont autorisés." Je pense que les règles sont assez claires.

@@alexandreclement8885 est les mots default settings mais maintenant si chacun invente ses réglès pour facilité les records ben ok après je dit pas que c'est facile ce qu'il fait mais il ne ferai pas aussi bien sur une carte par default donc pas un speedrun, c'est le principe des vidéos ou tu voie des gens faire des gestes de découpe de légume ou fruit avec une maitrise folle vient du fait qu'ils fonts le même geste des milliers de fois donc de l'automatisme pas de la réflexion se qui est le but d'un speedrun. mais chacun est libre de voir la différence ou pas.

@@devillyccan0116 l'un n'empêche pas l'autre. A aucun moment un speedrun est définit par les "défault settings". Par definition le speedrun est une pratique liée aux jeux vidéo dans laquelle le but est d'atteindre le plus rapidement possible un objectif donné. Donc ici, c'est bel et bien le cas, que la carte soit générée aléatoirement ou non. C'est d'ailleurs pour ça qu'il existe plusieurs catégories (y compris celle default settings) pour que chacun n'invente pas ses propres règles. De plus tu parles de reflexion/rng, mais si on prend l'exemple de DOOM 1993, il n'y en a aucune. C'est pourtant le jeu à l'origine des speedruns.

There are some resources on the Speedrun website. I recommend the beginner build guide since it's flexible and can be used in any map (though taking this map seed is also an option, and it works really well) - www.speedrun.com/factorio/guide/jg8lg As you improve you can switch to a more tile perfect build like I use in the run, but beginner build can get you pretty far
