With Fractions, couldn't you just find the common denominator and just cancel them out? For example, you have 3/4 + 2/8. Couldn't you just change 3/4 to 6/8 and be left with 6 + 2?????

4 years later, the answer is I don't know, why? because I'm a 7th grader that needs to upgrade his math second I think no because there is a specific way to do each math in the world, not just randomly add them or divide nor multiply or subtract.
