Well done Tia. I climbed to the top of that baby back in 1989. I was 28 at the time. As I got back to the bottom, a bus full of retired people were arriving. A few of the old guys looked up at the top wistfully and said, 'I wish I was 30 years younger.' Tia - you faced your fears, and now can enjoy the rest of your journey without regret.

I live in WA, I was born here. Watching you experience the things which I have done over a lifetime brings back so many great memories that I experienced with my parents and then with my own family. Western Australia is a massive state and you can literally spend years going up and down and across the length and breadth of it. The roads are great, the sights and experiences well worth the effort! Anyone who says WA doesn't have much to offer have obviously never visited it. I spent over 7 years on the eastern seaboard of Australia, living primarily in Queensland and Victoria, with trips to the other states. At the end of the day I returned to WA to raise my family, which kinda says it all for me. The other states have their own attractions and cultures but for me WA is always home.

I gotta say it's a downright pleasure watching a couple of youngins touring our country and enjoying the vastness and variety of the Land of Aussie... Regarding Albany; here is a bit of history for you, if you haven't already discovered it: On November 1, 1914, 30,000 young Australians and New Zealanders departed from Albany in Western Australia on board a flotilla of ships bound for Egypt and the battlefields of the Great War. They had never heard of Gallipoli or the Somme and had no idea where they were headed and the fact that many would never return home.

Well done both of you. I don't have a fear of heights but I do have a phobia of dogs, so Tia climbing that tree would be like me feeding the dogs in a kennels while they were loose - not ever going to happen! To push yourself to go back again knowing how it made you feel and to reach the first platform was very impressive. And that was a good job of supporting her to do what she wanted to do without pushing her. The whole video just put a smile on my face...

I have occasionally climbed big towers for work, when I was younger and fitter but they were towers with proper cages around them for safety and I can still remember losing the synchronisation of hands and feet trying to make sure I had three of four attached at any time. The second highest trees in the world after the Redwoods (and the highest flowering trees) can be found in the states of Victoria in mainland Australia and Tasmania, the island state. They grow in temperate rainforest in mainly eastern Victoria at a higher altitude of 150 to 1,100 metres, and grow to approximately 100 or more metres in height. The trees are known as Mountain Ash/Swamp Gum/Stringy Gum (Eucalyptus regnans).

Some trivia for you; Australia has the tallest hardwood trees in the world (the sequoia and redwood are softwood trees) however the bigger ones are found in the south-east and Tasmania. The tree you attempted to climb is called Bicentennial Tree and it is supposedly the tallest climbable tree in the world. Just nearby to that is a gorgeous gravel bush track that was worth taking a drive around, called Heartbreak Trail, which has picturesque resting points around the Warren River, which you probably would have had all to yourselves. It really is worth taking it slow and getting off the beaten track to explore these gorgeous spots; Barrabup Pool around Nannup, Glenoran Pool, Donnelly River and Bridgetown also would had been worth a look....but perhaps you don't have the luxury of time. The towns of Denmark and Walpole have some actually stunning beaches around them such as around Conspicuous Cliffs and Peaceful Bay....just sayin'.

Hey, well done with that tree, my wife(Mary) and I were there about 6 mths ago and chickened out. We completed an around Australia trip(except for Victoria, been there before) in our 20yr old 2 wheel drive sedan in 2 months. Used the tent as much as possible, went for paid accommodation when it was wet, windy or just sick of the tent, like your trip it was heaps of fun. I guess you get a lot of suggestions as to what to see, I'm going to add a couple. 1. Don't miss Esperance, nicest sea side town ever, do the coastal drive there. 2. Crossing the Nullabor: Unless you want to sleep in the tent book accommodation or you may have to camp rough. Keep your tank full, at least 1 service station sells diesel only. 3. Great Australian bight: 3 words, wild, remote and dramatic. There are a lot of places you can leave the highway and drive(carefully) right up to the bight, be extremely careful as many of the cliffs are under cut by wind and water, if you go over, there will be nobody to help you. 4. Coffin Bay: Not macabre at all. The town of Coffin Bay is surrounded by national parks hence a abundance of wildlife. We stayed at the caravan park and there were Emu's and Kangaroos all over the place. After leaving Coffin Bay it is a short trip to Port Lincoln then proceed north until you reconnect with the highway. Have a great trip and stay safe.

Amazing job, Tia! As someone with a fear of heights, I get how scary it is, but it's also amazing that you gave it a second go!

Pemberton is such a gorgeous area. I've seen people act so brave before they start climbing that tree. It's scarier than it looks and even people that aren't afraid of heights struggle. You've got real gumption Tia for sticking with it. Nice work! Really relieved to see the car is still running well. I hope you enjoy Albany and the surrounding area. If you are interested in seeing one of the best beaches along the bottom there (and don't mind a slight detour/explore), it's ~55 min drive away from Albany towards Denmark to a somewhat protected (and absolutely stunning!) part of the coast called Greens Pool, Denmark. Safe travels and looking forward to your next video :)

I guess Tia's street cred goes up one more notch!!! I used to be more scared of heights than I am now because I also challenged myself to do things that freak me out. Way to go. It was the solo skydiving a couple times that really pushed me way out of my comfort zone and thus gave me much more confidence in myself. A couple positive partner support points for Cheveyo as well!! Happy Travels

Well done! The top platform is a long way up that tree. I climbed it with my sister and father about 50 years ago. There was no half way platform then. On the way down we met 2 technicians going up with backpacks full of equipment - we had to pass each other. That was scary!
