Facilitator Spotlight - Rick Kuplinski
Retiring relatively young was a lifelong goal for Rick Kuplinski, but doing it while drunk or hungover was not the plan he had imagined. So, on May 18, 2019, he finally decided to become an ex-drinker instead of trying yet again to become a better one, dusted off his SMART Recovery Handbook, and began working the tools without his usual excuses and rationalizations. “As it turns out for me the hardest part about quitting alcohol was deciding I wanted to,” Rick says, “After that, things got progressively easier while the rewards of life beyond addiction still keep coming more than three years after my last drink.” Rick facilitates meetings weekly in-person for the general public, in several Las Vegas treatment centers, and through the SMART Recovery Fletcher Initiative. He is also SMART’s regional coordinator for Nevada. His VACIs include hiking and physical fitness, cooking, reading non-fiction, watching documentaries, and traveling, especially internationally with the goal of seeing Pearl Jam concerts in as many countries as possible.

Hi smart recovery channel, background music behind speech is really distracting and unnecessary. Especially for people who are anxiety prone, on the spectrum, hard of hearing, and/or speak English as a second language. That background music is just unnecessary. You don't need it. A little bit of music when people aren't talking goes a long way. Anyway I hope this helps thanks.
