What makes a good Facebook Marketplace listing?
A keyword optimized title - this is where you want to include things like the brand or the model of the thing you're selling, the color, the condition or anything relevant that will catch the potential buyers eye as they are skimming through all of the Facebook Marketplace results.
Price - Typically I price things competitively a little bit lower than the average in the market. That way I know that my item will more likely sell a little faster than everybody else's.
High quality photos - It needs to be super clear for your potential buyer what exactly they're going to be buying when they check out your listing.
Benefits to the buyer - Too many people talk about the specific features that the item that they're selling has, but they don't write about it from the lens of the buyer.
Percentage savings - percentage savings that somebody stands to save by buying your item
Preferred payment method - Venmo, cash, etc.
Preferred pickup days and times

    Will, your video was packed full of excellent information. I recently scored a nice deal from a former business that had shut its doors due to the impact of COVID-19. I was thinking about how I would list the laptops as they are very nice Dell Latitudes. This video gave me the basics of writing an ad that will be more successful. I hail from the school that tries to be as honest and transparent as I can be, but it may cause the eyes of those less familiar with tech to glaze over.     I think it all starts with what your competitors are doing. Check out what others are doing first, and try to identify 2-3 patterns of those that are seeing higher visibility in their listings vs. others. Then, replicate and create a listing even better than theirs. In the world of properties, I'd lean heavily on your staging of photos, and your copywriting skills. Best of luck, Sue Anne!

    Very clear, amazing videos on Facebook Marketplace, so nice to share those examples. I think I will be able to make good use of them. Suggestions: any specific advice on brand new handmade products to sell on Facebook market? I can use your steps for this but I may be interested in advices for new items if there is specific things to know about how to sell them.     Great idea, Emma - I'll take a look into homemade goods later and get back to you. A lot of the same principles apply though -- one of the keys is good keyword optimization to get discovered in Facebook Marketplace. I'd also look to do multi-platform listing -- so not just FBM, but also Craigslist, Etsy, etc. You will want to find out what the general queries are people are using to find similar items to your handmade items -- it might be "handmade jewelry bracelet" for example.

    Yes! I just sold an old iPhone recently. Same formula applies as what’s outlined here. Expect high interest with little follow through from interested buyers. If you list competitively though you can sell within a week. Swappa is also another site for selling phones.

    You should probably go on Turo for something like that. FBM isn't really the place for car rentals at this time.

    Just found your channel! I am definitely subscribing! Lots of great tips and info! I do okay sales wise but always looking for ways to boost my sales! Do you recommend deleting your items after they’ve sold, or is it good for potential buyers to see the variety of items I’ve had in my shop? It’s hard to search thru my listings since there are so many and the buyer has to click on the item to see if it’s sold or available… help!

    I mark them as sold so I don't delete them but I do close them out. I would not keep a listing up if I no longer have the item.

    Check out what others are doing; look for those with existing reviews on their profiles -- typically that means they've sold them in the past. Emulate their listings!

    You can’t do that with normal FBM. You’d need to run that through Facebook Ads.

My question is related to the Venmo payments. I sent them my Venmo QR code and they asked me for my email. I saw a warning about sending my email. Could it be a scam? I’ve never had issues with my QR code before.

    Will, you may have addressed this in another video that I haven't seen but how can I get an ad all ready but list it active on a later date. Sometimes I have time to write the ad on an earlier day and wish to list it closer to the weekend.

    You can keep it in Draft mode / don't publish it and there should be a way you'll still see it in your listings. Alternatively, briefly publish it and then unpublish it so it goes into your unlisted section

    Hey Kelvin! You may actually find more opportunities through local groups / online communities on Facebook or places like Discord I.e. if going after gamers, gamer groups.

    Hi Will, thank you so much for your video and your channel! Please, I have some questions that I think I need your opinions about. - When you said 'A keyword optimized title', you mentioned 'Brand', but I have seen others videos on KZread, that says you shouldn't mention the bran on the title or even in the description of the product, because that's an alert from the algorithm of Facebook. So, I don't know if I should put the Brand on my products?

    I absolutely Loathed this run on sentence editing technique where people think you’re going to get people to stay longer because they won’t get bored. When in fact what’s happening is they’re becoming drowned out and losing interest because it’s one long run on sentence and there is no subject matter it just keeps going and going and going. It’s just noise like a techno song.

    What about hastags? I delete my ads after the items sells, however, how do you build your reputation and get buyer feedback for items sold?

    I personally don't find hashtags very helpful. You should mark your listings as sold once your items sell and then you'll get buyer feedback when people leave feedback for you. You can always ask people nicely to leave feedback after the transaction is done too.

    If you're looking to get rid of it, price lower than the rest. If you're willing to wait, add some humor or make sure everything is crystal clear in your listing so it moves quick.

    For sports, make sure to work in derivatives of the sport I.e. basketball --> bball For framed art, look through other general art listings and see what patterns those at the top have -- that'll cue you in on what keywords the algorithm prioritizes.

    I work for a dealership. I post 30-50 vehicles every single day on Facebook marketplace. Is it a overuse of fbmp feature? is this a reason they banned me on marketplace sometimes. if yes, is there a limit on posting ads.

    Honestly, you’re going to be in a competitive space so it’s likely going to come down to price or features of the beds you’re selling. Start with what your competitors are doing. Check out what others are doing first, and try to identify 2-3 patterns of those that are seeing higher visibility in their listings vs. others. Then, replicate and create a listing even better than theirs. Take what works and make it better.

    Maybe it is just where I live, but many, and I do mean many, people do not even look at the description or the other photos. They will ask me questions that have been clearly explained in the description. Also have had several people ask me if something is available, show up - only to say, they thought it was much larger or different in some way. I have measurements in the description and the photos and the buyer usually will admitt to not even looking at them or the description - they only rely on that first photo and their own judgement of what they are getting. This has happened more times than I can count. I try to be thorough in my description, but people just don't look at it. :(

    Happened to me too !! I thought they might lazy to read the description so I edited my picture with the measurements as well. But still the buyer said he is not familiar how big / long the cm, inches.. he doesn’t have measurements tape or ruler. Also they trying to save their internet data so they dare only to open 1 picture. Or wifi is very slow / low, they not able to read the description.

    For thoughts though, you’re going to need to be scrappy and find other ways to get in front of your customers. It’s just going to be harder to get your first 100 customers than your next 100. That’s the reality of starting anything new.

    The search TAGS is useless.. I testing it by searched the tags words that I posted ( I makesure the words that not in my title or description) , and as results it doesn’t shows any of my posts. Then I try keywords in my description. It does shows my posts but only works on certain words in my description. Only the words in the “title” that is important as each keywords will be pop up when the buyers search.

    @@naimaghaffar880 Best advice is typically do a general search for what you're selling I.e. wardrobes and look for the sellers with 5 star feedback ratings. These are the folks that are doing typically the best on FBM and you can learn from their listings

    Check out the other listings and then aim to be more comprehensive. Make sure you stage your pictures well -- I.e. are they new, used, etc? Make it clear details on payment and pickup. Follow the video and you should be good to go since Airpods are popular items.

    @@borderline2022 You shouldn't copy word for word but you should see what general themes they're doing (I.e. are they using tags, are they optimizing their title, etc) and then try to make an even better listing.

    The biggest thing I'm concerned about is giving my address to people. I posted something for the first time and got more than 10 people sound interested until I give them my address and try to set up a pickup date, they just stop answering, it makes me think are they just trying to get my address?

    NO ONE ever reads the detail description in the ad! I put complete details always, even phone # and get constant generic button requests "is this item for sale"! For all of you out there....ignore anyone who is SO lazy that they hit this button. If they can't scroll down to details and read, then they are wasting your time. This also goes for ppl who put a stock or crappy photo and NO detailed description, they're lazy and when you get there, the item will be crap and damaged! Ignore. And Yes, to this video, if you put too many words in your title, I have found that your item can't be found in searches. If you put "sectional couch" as oppossed to " Ikea sectional couch with sleeper", I never get as many views from the detailed title!!?? Why is this? Marketplace sucks! and no one is trying to fix it, it just gets worse monthly
