Great demo - this helped me understand things a little more though I have a long way to go still! I'll share it with my group. This Moon Phase template would be great on the main site to make ornaments, jewellery, etc. with the option of a hole or hanging hole and text etc! Do it!!

Curious why you put 1/2 the kerf on each pc as opposed to the full kerf on just the inlayed pc?

Great question! While I think putting a full kerf expand on just the inner piece would probably work for this simple project, putting a half kerf expand on each piece will result in a more precise fit. This will be most important on corners (on curved sections it won't be as big a deal). Another reason: doing a 1/2 kerf on each piece will generalize to doing inlays with more than 2 pieces. If you have an inlay with lots of pieces, you can do an expand of 1/2 kerf on every piece to get a good fit.

@@tobyschachman8751 will this only work if the piece you are cutting is symetrical (like the moon shape)?
