    @@turnoverDG I discovered them accidentally when i was 17. I used to go buy a new CD maybe once or twice a month and would just walk around the store till something stuck out. And I saw avail over the james and I remembered seeing someone wearing an avail shirt on that sublime documentary when they played at DC ballroom. Was hooked instantly

Avail were working class guys that would work mon-fri then drive up and down the east coast playing shows Sat and Sun. 0 radio play, maybe aside from Richmond, va.

    @@michaelmignone5869 compared to say, Rancid, no. But next time you see someone that you think might be a punk, ask them if they’ve heard of Avail. I’ve never met any of them, but I know people that know them, and when I started listening to this kinda music, they were always a band people talked about. I think they just did, or are doing reunion shows soon. See if you can find out how fast tickets sold out, and where people were coming from, for the shows. That might help you figure out their place. Radio play? 😆 To pick a random band, do you know Hot Water Music? Big band, right? How much radio play do you think they’ve had over their career?

    I love that Brad said he could see himself sitting in a corner listening to this since that's basically the album cover. First time I saw these guys in 95 I was dropped while crowd surfing and chipped my elbow, it still hurts now and then, good times!

    Socal Punk rock! Face to Face was and still is such a fun band to see live. So much energy. Lots of great songs to this day. Thanks for checking them out! If you are going into any more punk. Check out No Use For a Name, Millencolin (Brad will recognize their song No Cigar), and try the band Strung Out! (their later stuff especially with so much metal/punk infusion)

    The guy who played bass on this song/album though was Matt Riddle, not Scott Shiflet. Ironically, Matt left Face to Face to join No Use For A Name with Scotts brother Chris, while Scott joined Face to Face to take Matt’s place and has been there ever since. I’m a nerd, I know, but this was the music of my childhood

    bro, my first punk show was also in Pittsburgh: Hi-Standard opened, then Bouncing Souls and NOFX headlined. It was an $8 ticket and we got a free comp CD on the way out. I miss 96.

    I don't know if she could sit through the decline. Aside from length, it's got so many changes. I always thought of it as about 4 songs with one over arching theme and woven together with one loose rhythm they keep returning to. Which is a masterclass in song writing.

    There's some will say that it's it's own little genre from the '80s and '90s. Bands like Uncle tupelo Wilco son volt Jason in the scorchers The rainmaker and the beat Farmers. It is music and bands that should be looked into unfortunately none of these reaction channels ever dive into these bands. Such a shame. What I like about your channel is you do some others do not so maybe you guys will look into these. Enjoy

    F2F have been my favorite band for the last 30 years. Haven't missed a show they've done in Colorado since then. They are also directly related to my wife and I now being married. Hit me harder than it should when they recently announced they were hanging it up after all these years. Thanks for doing this.

    Superman’s not a ska song(see Here In Your Bedroom), but for our purposes, let’s say it is; why suggest a ska song when it was a punk stream? They’re working things out, why make it more difficult? Why not suggest one of their other songs? For instance, how about Mable?

Let’s say it was 97, MXPX, Goldfinger, and someone else; the show was sold out, and the guys from MXPX snuck me and a couple friends in.     My favorite band and first concert when I was in the 7th grade. Face to Face, MXPX, and the HIPPOS. Janus Landing, Tampa Florida. Took me right back. Glad you guys enjoyed it. Disconnected and self titled album are both great 1990s SoCal punk gold.

    I just saw a band called Firesale which is a skate punk band and the bassist is the original bassist from face-to-face which is the guy playing on this recording and his name is Matt Riddle. Check out the Fool's Errand video 👍

    Classic. Yeah, I used to love to skate to this song. Same! I could heelflip perfectly, Variable and could 360 from time to time, but couldn’t kickflip for shit. I skated for about 15 years before I figured out I couldn’t skate for shit. Plenty of footage on my camcorder. Who knows where the tapes went?? I can’t imagine what it’s like to skate with everyone having a smartphone.

    I think what I've always loved about Trever's lyrics is, like you said, deep. But there is not much too them. He's always kept it simple. Which might also be because Trever has said he's a lazy writer. Whether or not that's true it works.

    best band ever FYI. Check out No Authority, Blind, Say What You Want. Best live show ever. been a fan since 93. The words to these songs are more relevant now than ever. Up to interpretation but purposefully ambiguous in my opinion.
