I have it in my Amazon cart. It's very hard to feel like I'm meeting the specific needs of each of my kids. Honestly, I know they would not have as much independent attention in a classroom, and I get that. I really do get overwhelmed when I think about the responsibility completely falling on my shoulders.

Just fyi meet really really really off beet homeschool kids as a kid soo. I judge

No bullying, no degenerates, no perverted teachers, no rainbow mafia crap, no teen pregnancies, no juvenile cases, no diseases spread around, no lice. no mothers trying to meddle with your business. How can homeschooling not be a blessing? Unless you regret your kid it's a good way to shield them from disgusting people and let them be kids.

While I agree with most of what you have said, realize that not every homeschool kid is a moral angel, and not every public schooled kid is a moral degenerate. Sin affects us all where ever we are.

Not having the whole families lives revolve around the school calendar. Kids being able to talk and laugh, ask questions, rest drink and eat and use the bathroom when they need to !

home schooling and after school programs like sports,music etc to have social skill with other kids there age is a great combo

Public school too much pressure , competitions between your classmates, peer pressure, bad influences , bullies , harassment , intimidation etc….. turn your child to suffer more maniaco depressions very sad and can lead to tragic ending !!! It’s been 2 years I’m homeschool my child he’s happy and we’re happy as a parent learn our own values teach religious moralities we’re feel more connected and so much more 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Wish I had a parent like you, about education my parents always ignore me and my opinions, like when I said I am an outcast in school I just cannot use to it is there any chance I could be an homeschooler? but they just said "impossible" and now I am suffering a lot and my curiosity and my talent stopped working while ago bcuz of too much work we cannot handle it and stress

Public schooling has always been deeply flawed, but it keeps getting worse while also demanding more and more of our children's time. Longer school years, longer school days, more homework and so on. These days, I'd be more worried about public schooled kids having no time to socialize and "turning out weird". They are always at home doing homework, have 20 minutes to eat lunch at school and possibly no recess. Is that what we want childhood to be??

I had to come and add this viewpoint I am one of six and four of us graduated from home school and I had two siblings in public school. Schooling is very dependent upon the person and there is no one fits all solution.

Hi Mauricio, Thanks for your comment. I agree that one thing doesn't fit all, but there are a couple of things to consider. First, we would have to run all of you through the opposite experience to really know how it would have turned out. The two public school kids may have turned out even better (or worse) in homeschool, etc. Second, we have to define what we want in order to evaluate it. Is it about skills, or character, career, marriage, etc.? How do we measure the success? How did everyone turn out? Was it all the same? What mattered to mom? What mattered to the kids? Again, thanks!

When I was a kid I begged my mom to let me homeschool. She said no because, in her words: “You’re smart enough to succeed in anything you do. I’m not making you go to school to learn what’s in the books; I’m making you go to learn how to deal with people.” And she was right. I passed without studying, did my homework secretly during class, and then ran home to play video games. I would have never learned people skills if I didn’t leave the house. But that was 3 decades ago. With how dangerous, hostile, and biased schools are today, my mom would have have a different choice. (I know because her grandchildren homeschool and she’s all for it) I will say though that if you DO let your children homeschool, then you need to arrange in-person social interaction, even if the curriculum does not cover it. Especially if your child is a nerdy recluse like I was.

Nice...and...you might have learned people skills another way!

All I can say about this topic is that there are both good and bad issues in Home and Public Schoolings. I would not flat out say Home Schooling is the best. I was brought up under public schooling, had no problems, learned allot, met great friends, played sports, music, and my teachers were great.

OMG, I am so glad I came across this channel. I had to subscribe. I'm an old gal and don't have any young children anymore, but this definitely needs to be shared. One problem though is that there are many parents who want to homeschool who can barely read and write. My son's girlfriend had three daughters who were in school, and she couldn't even correct their spelling when they were in elementary school. She couldn't do any math at all, and didn't know what our brightest star was. My four-year-old granddaughter got it right. Good parents can and should do this, but some parents will only fail the same way the public school did.

I was a late bloomer going to college after I had five children, and I had to teach myself because none of the professors could actually answer my questions. I was told, "You ask too many questions, just focus on the material at hand!" I WAS asking about the material at hand. Your channel is so incredible. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. BTW, when asked I tell people that I matriculated from KZread University. When I was taking higher level math classes, I had to go to Khan Academy to actually learn how to do the math. Shame.

We have homeschooled our youngest kid since 2020 and we are happy, that we woke up then and saw, what "public or private school education" was and who was behind the bullshit. Socialization? Haha. To learn from other kids how to behave, to be able to hang out in the way "everybody does"? No thanks. Like another day, where a friend came by and gave our kid "prime soda", and also told him to keep the bottle so other friends could see our kid had tried this popular drink. Image...Our kid took the present and said thanks, but when the friend went home, he felt quite sad about stuff like "prime" etc. makes his friend happy, he wished he know the way how to tell his friend, how stupid this is to follow any influencers. We are proud to have a kid who has developed ability to think, discuss, learn from mistakes, can spot propaganda things easily, to search for natural solutions instead of artificial. We learn together with our kid, so many things we have learned in completely wrong way, "the winners write the history" and so on. I wish every parent woke up and took responsibility for their kids education.

My children were really struggling, public schools are so concerned about being A schools and forcing them instead of meeting their needs. If your child has behavioral issues they call you, if they are failing they call you, the teachers say that the parents are the first teachers. My son was bullied and had marks on his body and not one teacher saw what happened to him. They are not interested in meeting children where they are so they can flourish in safe spaces without the feeling of failure and stressing out their mental health.

I experienced public, private and home education. Excellent and solid points. I agree. Thanks for sharing!

Currently considering homeschool. There are some mean and corruptive kids around mine. Suicide being one of the leading causes of death in ages 10-24 is a seriously sad problem in our world. Bullying being one of the top reasons for suicide in kids. This is not ok.

I agree with you on the OCD and being in Law. I did well as an Accountant and then I went into Law as a Paralegal and Loved it. Never worked a day in my life.

Homeschooling is the way to go but not everybody is in a position to do it good and that's a shame my advice if you're going to homeschool your kids higher tutors to help out if you can afford it

Homeschool isn't easy, and you have mental health children and a single household. My kids needed space and time to thrive not everyone can hire tutoring when they're just making rent.

This has me scared again that I'm going to mess my kids up. I understand about being consistent, but I'm still figuring this out.

I am glad a man talk about homeschool. Because I do it myself. But my question is did you homeschool your own kids or did you wife did? I still appreciate your insights if you did not.

I was involved a lot, especially in setting up the system and keeping everyone accountable. My wife and I spent about 15 minutes a day (I graded the writing) working with the kids. In the early years she did more...teaching phonics, reading to the children, and keeping records. Mostly, we just modeled what we wanted and kept up with what they were doing in the key areas of reading, writing, and math.

I have an only. We’ve been homeschooling for 8 years. It’s wonderful. She has less friends, but they are her best friends. Strangers think she is years older than she is based on her conversational skills and topics. I think she is so fun and she’s 14! We have bad days, but who doesn’t and they don’t last. Having an only is the best! 🥰😉

I agree. Homeschooling is wayyyyy better. God gave me my children to teach according to His ways. The government teaches against God ways. I cant expect to send my children to Ceaser and they not come back as Romans as Voddie Baucham would say. Giving them up to strangers for 10 hours a day and I get maybe one or two to try to counteract all the lies is too much work. Ill keep them for majority of the day everyday and they can do extracurriculars a few days a week for an hour or so. I like that dynamic better. I just think people have become lazy and accustomed to placing responsibility on others. A one to one student to teacher ratio is always better. As long as the parent loves their child, can read, and purchase curriculum then they should be able to homeschool.

" South Park " the TV show is written by supposedly brilliant minds. In the episode they deducted that home school is better for learning but Public School teaches children conflict resolution with bullying and intimidation or manipulation.

@@FredRayLybrand In 1969 we moved our family to a mining village. I was shy and with low self esteem due to a Narcissistic mother that did not love or care for me. For 2 years I was tortured by 8 thugs as the teachers smoked and enjoyed the care and safety of students. It was know back then as a rite of passage by violence like a prison yard. Then in 1971 I started taking them out one at a time and I was deadly !! 6 of those students went on to prison later and now when Columbine started I wondered if it was guns in America, Narcissistic parents or bullies ??

What would be considered a failed homeschool? I feel like I failed by being inconsistent because of doubt and my boys are sporty boys, they dont enjoy reading for reading sake and are not naturally creative, They seemed board. And became unmotivated. I was so frustrated at trying to get them to notice there role towards learning and working hard. Being accountable to mom and daf didnt seem like enough motivation to get work done or even be somewhat interested. 😢 I'm more excited than them. I put them in public school for some accountability. 8th grade son is doing fantastic academically and is called a leader by his teachers. 6th grader is failing but enjoys the 'fun' partd public school offers, but isnt organized and is aloof because hes always excited about the person in front of him, but does take social cues well, per his teachers. 2nd grader has been in school with special education for speech hes doing great. I want homeschool to work; I miss the special times of learning bible, history and being in the kitchen with them....Im.lost and not sure what to do.

One quality relationship probably better than a whole bunch of weak ones. Plus can still do team sports, scouts, volunteering. Cooking classes should be more popular but then could do that at home with ur kid

That's true...some parents are too educated to allow their kids to learn to teach themselves :-)

Public Schools have alot of problems, but I just don't see how a single or both parents has the knowledge to teach all subject levels effectively.

Good challenge, which I accept! The real key is to understand that you have probably bought into the theory that no one can learn unless they’re taught. The fact is that humans are excellent at learning if they take the right approach and have the right resources around them. At the amazing St. John’s Universities, you’ll find that their professors stay longer than any professors of other schools… Because they have to switch subjects and learn it alongside the student before they’re the “teacher“. A professor may have been teaching physics, but her new gig is French (along with other subjects). So one answer is that the parents can learn; and so, two generations are impacted. The other answer is how we approach education. The children became their own teachers. We did not need the knowledge of the subject we needed good access to literature and know how to encourage our kids to continue to teach themselves. For example, our son Brooks completed calculus on his 15th birthday and went onto make a perfect SAT math score. I assure you, Jody and I did not teach him math to that level! He was not that exceptional… All of our kids have done quite well and graduated from college with excellent grades. Education is about developing the skills needed to become your own teacher for the rest of your life. If we assume that education is about having teachers who know more than the students… Then how would learning get anywhere? Hope this helps, FRL

I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you thinking friendships grow better in schools? Or, are you saying that the quality of friends is likely much better through homeschooling? Our 5 homeschooled kids had lots of friends from scouts, youth-group, art lessons, tennis lesson, swimming pool, neighbors, etc.

@@FredRayLybrand yes! That’s what I do with mine. The only thing is, they get lonely when they aren’t involved in extra curriculum activities and sports. That’s the only down side to homeschooling for me.

I have to put in an effort to arrange playdates for my kids. It is tough navigating other families schedules, so maybe joining a local FB Homeschool Group would help connect with others. I have one kid who is very social and one who is content very little social interaction.

I get the spirit :-) Still, lots of parents should not homeschool. Every year I find some who just can't do it given their dysfunction or situation. Also, freedom and choice are important values...which means people are free to do dumb things (as long as it doesn't invade the rights of others).

Absolutely not! Also, look into Abeka Academy. They have an accredited program where a teacher teaches virtually. We use it and it's wonderful! Some days I teach, some days my daughter watches the videos. She is 3 and she's reading! I can't recommend it enough!!

What about specializing know ppl who claim that homrschoolers aren't socialized enough with their peers?

A claim isn't proof. It's simply not true. There are lots of ways to connect with others. Plus, school socialization is often BAD socialization.

All the Homeschoolers I know are very socialized. They're able to socialize with people younger and older than they are. They aren't limited by age or grade levels. This is real life.

I went to public schools and there are many children that dont socialize. I also remember being told by teachers "you arent here to socialize, you are here to learn". You are usually told to be quiet. People be on phones, have headphones on etc... that's not socialization. Some people are just introverts. That's their personality... Sitting someone in a classroom isnt socialization.

Your “seven points” would hold some water if they were based in facts, to any degree at all. Sadly, all we have here is 100% speculation and baseless musings on the topic. I guess they don’t teach facts in homeschool after all 😒

Homeschooling has its advantages, but there are also advantages to sending your kids to public schools. We moved to get into a better neighborhood because better schools are heavily dependent on zip codes. I wasn’t able to help my kids with their homework after 5th grade. ( I’m a registered nurse) I doubt many homeschooling parents can really keep up with the type of knowledge that’s needed to get into a good college. My daughter is taking vector calculus, I would never understand that. Homeschoolers mostly focus on religious education that should be done at church if that’s important to your family. I teach part time in nursing at a technical school and the homeschooled kids are obvious.They focus on religion (a lot) to the point where I have to tell them this is not the place for that and that they are not to be spouting their religious opinions to their patients. They also struggle with the diversity of the classroom and how most people don’t live the life they had growing up. Homeschooling has definite disadvantages when it comes to the real world not catering to the homeschooled kids idea of how the world really works.

Hi loveandjoy810, Thanks for your comments. I think you have some misunderstandings about homeschool, at least in our experience. All five of our kids are college graduates (for graduated from the University of Texas in Austin). Three of our students completed calculus, with one going on to double major in mathematics/economics. He also had a perfect SAT math score. Our goal wasn't religious education, but better academic and learning skills. Universities know that homeschooled kids do well, so they have special ways to make sure they are accepted. The big difference in our views is that we teach parents that they are to cause their children to learn (rather than teach them). That's really the key. Our kids advanced beyond us while being homeschooled their entire lives. If a parent thinks they must know-and-teach the material, they'd have to conclude public school is the only answer. We believe kids are learning machines...that just need a little nurture and a lot of opportunity.

Our goal in homeschool will be religious education. I'm not sure where you got the idea that religion only belongs in a church building. That's not what the Word of God says. Religion is sacred and fundamental to the parents of many children. We dont expect the world to carry or even know the ends and outs. You must know God to know what He commands of His people. He has given parents the responsibility to give their children a foundation and biblical worldview, not strangers. They are to protect their children and their innocence. They will know about what the world teaches because we will prepare them for the people waiting to try and change their minds and corrupt their thoughts, but it will after we laid a secure foundation and they are developmentally ready to withstand. Homeschool parents that trust in God will follow Christ and not secular popular opinions.

You must live in a fabulous town.😂 I’m from Los Angeles and diversity literally cannot be a problem no matter where a child went to school. Every homeschooled person I know is way more advanced academically and very well adjusted. It’s impossible to lack diversity unless you purposely live somewhere that lacks diversity. That’s the parents choice, not the children’s’. My guess is you live around adult weirdos as opposed to the idea that just all homeschooled kids are the weirdos. Let me guess. All the public schooled kids are fabulous, mentally healthy and well adjusted?

All 3 of my children are in public school in NYC. They are (obviously lol) all black children. My son tested in the 95th percentile for math in the entire state of NY. Public school did that. Our public school is diverse and not without its challenges but the parents are tight knit and so our children spend a lot of time together inside and outside the classroom. My daughter isn't as academically inclined as her brothers (who both consistently test high in math, reading and writing) so I have been looking into homeschooling as an option for her. But writing off public schools wholesale is just not accurate or wise. Also bullying has just not been a thing at their school. I understand the resistance to "wokeness" but part of that "agenda" is a heavy focus on acceptance. So incidences of bullying are low/virtually non existent at their school. I respect homeschooling families so much. A shame the respect doesn't go both ways to parents who are investing in their community public schools and seeing their children thrive as a result.

Homeschool parents are facilitators of education, not transmitters of information. Homeschooling does not mean that the parent teaches every topic . My 9 year old is quite advanced. As in a high school reading level, 3 years ahead in math, passionate about science. She takes 3 different online science programs, 2 are live zoom classes with the teacher and other kids. One is self paced. She is taking Vet Science, Marine Biology, and Environmental Science at the same time. All high school level work. She has already put in 200 hours of volunteer work at a local animal shelter and is now also volunteering at a vet clinic assisting spaying and neutering of cats. Next year she will qualify to attend the eco center camps through one of her programs. I went into homeschooling knowing almost nothing about animal science. I am a history buff and have a degree in social services and am a single parent. Homeschooling is not all me transmitting information in front of my kid at a desk like public school. It allows you to support your kid learning however they can with the talents and interests they have. By the way we are not religious at all.

Public schooling is FAR better in just about every way than homeschooling. I have cousins, nephews and friends that were and are currently homeschooled and pretty much every one of them have done nothing after finishing high school but taking menial jobs. However, my wife and I, my own kids and most of my friends' kids who went to public school have gone on to advanced degrees in college and have high-paying, advanced careers. If parents want to homeschool out of dire necessity, that's fine but homeschooling should never be promoted as superior in any way.

What you are sharing is anecdotal. I have 5 kids that graduated college (mostly with honors) AND are living highly productive lives. Of course, that doesn't prove it either. You are mentioning some graduates from high school....what about the average? Below average? All public schools are not the same, nor are all homeschools (I was clear about this in the video).

You're a snob. So what if they have "menial jobs." It's an honest living. They had better childhoods than your children because you sent your children to indoctrination camps where they were made to sit down, keepntheir mouths shut and were told what to think and not how to think. And going to college isn't the be all and end all either because people who go to college these days come out more stupid than they already were before they went.

Perhaps they have different values that don’t place a person’s worth or value merely on a college degree or a career. Any person who works for a living, and is not a burden on society, ie, pulls their own weight, should be respected as much as the college educated. I’d just be curious to know how much college debt you have? Just curious! Anyhow, not everyone needs an advanced degree to feel complete as a person. I’m sure you don’t intend to come off as degrading and arrogant, but it certainly did.

That might have been your experience, but the statistics say otherwise. Look it up. On average, homeschool students score above average on achievement tests. Some colleges are now actively recruiting homeschool students because word got out. There is also plenty of evidence of the harm modern public schooling can do. I have no idea when your kids graduated, but in recent decades it has become less and less developmentally appropriate.

Thanks for these comments guys! Very encouraging coming from a person who failed 4th grade and it has had a negative impact on my life for many years feeling insecure and comparing myself to others, feeling inferior to the “smart”?ones and the wrecking of my self-esteem. But the crazy part is that I was on honor roll 5&6 th grade 🤨. But the damage was already done. The public school system failed me. I’m growing from that mindset
