Fabulous CRYSTALS & GEMS at the American Museum of Natural History New York (Night at the Museum)
Kate heads to New York City and visits the American Museum of Natural History to discover incredible gemstones and breathtaking crystals at the Allison and Roberto Mignone Hall of Gems and Minerals. The newly remodeled display features crystals and precious gems from around the world, including the famed Star of India, the largest gem-quality sapphire ever found. Giant amethyst geodes and a huge block of azurite/malachite anchor the incredible collection. The display is a rock lover's paradise - come along!

It's always impressive to see such a collection but at the same time I think its really incomplete without a display of different basalts :)

My best rock tip is never ignore ugly rocks, a gem maybe hiding underneath that unappealing thing.

Holy moly! Now THAT is what I call “eye candy”! That must have been an amazing experience! I have to many gem and mineral shows and saw some spectacular specimens, but the tallest amethyst vug I ever saw was “only” 8 feet tall. That specimen they have defies the imagination!

Nice! I was pretty impressed, I must say.
Wow that was fun, even if it was NYC. I remembered again why I stopped figuring out what kind of rock something is and just started calling them pretty rocks (pr) and leaverites. I never had an argument about what kind of the rock it is, ever again. They were all beautiful. Thanks for sharing and glad you made it home ok. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒

Kate, thank you so much for taking us along on this adventure! That is my kind of museum. Two questions: how long did you spend there/how much of it did you get to see, and how much red-tape did you have to go through to get the go-ahead for recording while inside?
@KatyDidRocks
2 жыл бұрын
I actually was only there a couple of hours, which seems to be my limit for museum-viewing. There are 24 buildings, so we only saw a fraction. As far as filming, photography is allowed inside.
I went to the natural museum of science in Houston once as a little girl & my family rushed me through the mineral & gem rooms. At the time I was upset but I guess they wanted to see the other things too lol
Amazing video.

Hi 👋 👋 👋 👋 Katie just wanted to say all the rocks you showed me are great who would of known there are so many beautiful rocks. Well now I guess you will have to go to Archeological school 🏫 and get a 2nd degree under your belt. I think you would be good at it you be kinda a female Bill Ney the Science lady 👩 you could be teaching people about all the cool rocks of the world 🌎
