Imma hit him up I think!
also when using a drop saw instead of putting it down and then cutting towards you pull it out all the way then drop down and cut away from you, it will make it a lot safer and also will cut cleaner

...I came here to say this. Can't be having any accidents, no way to break in the new boat.
You're killing it. Don't sweat the small stuff. Let the keyboard haters do there thing. Your attitude is refreshing and I can't wait to see it on the water. Tight lines ma boy🤙🏾
Nate's custom boats will be your best bet. Hes a part of Tiny Boat Nation. Hes in Illinois which is closer than Tricked Tins. He can make you a hatch for the live well and fix your seat problem permantly.

Yes, a must do! They have a DIY lid kit that just mite do the job, you just drill and rivet together, depending how tall the lip is on the tanks.
You're doing and learning more than most of watching you. Appreciate your time and effort. Goal one that most people don't or can't do is DO WHAT YOU LOVE FIRST. Experience/expertise comes to those that spend the time, do the work, make mistakes, and carry on. Looking forward to the final product!
Thank you for the shout out!! Don’t sweat the cuts! I went through a few boards haha!!! Keep grinding! Can’t wait to see it on the water.
I’m currently in the process of redoing my old Basscat . I bought some seats from bass boat seats . Anyway, they are very similar to what you got. I have not yet put them in, but my thought was to use the old bottom from the old seats. I believe mine is fiberglass. I plan on taking the old cover off the bottom seat and placing carpet over them and then mount the seat to that. If that works out, I should be able to access the storage under neath just as I do now .
Man don’t worry about the noise, your boat looks fantastic. I can’t wait to see how you work out the seat mounting, i have a similar issue.
Tiny boat nation has diy aluminum decks. Check ‘em out. It’s your boat who care what the feast of the world thinks! Have fun.
Bro your killing eff the haters the bass cat is gonna be a legend when it’s done I’ve watched the build from the beginning and where you are now with it is great keep pushing don’t get your hopes down and use card board templates before you make your cuts on pvc board just tape the edges
Keep rolling, you're doing good.
On the top hole I used a tach and gps speedometer gauge that fit perfect easy to hook up and have accurate speedometer and rpms love your videos I have a 93 pantera 11 I'm restoring also that belonged to my wife's great grandfather that passed I bought from his daughter to get back into shape
Nicely done.
You could use something like thompson water seal on the wood to seal it should work for awhile at least. I've 3d printed a part to fill the trolling motor plug hole as I decided to just hardwire the trolling motor due to corrosion issues in the plug. Anyways I used PETG as material and it's held up very well through 2 fishing seasons and spending the winter outside since I sadly don't have a garage. ABS would work great also but is more of a pain to print with.
Get in touch with Tricked Tins. He will definitely hook you up with that seat lid
The seating area is fiberglass. Why don't you just take and trim off the raised lip on there and transfer the rubber edging to the hole. And then you will have a flat service to mount your seats too. You can even put a couple pieces of aluminum angle underneath to help reinforce it since the raised lips used to help reinforce it.
Dude I’ve commented on one of your previous videos in this build. I bought the same seats for my winner bass boat when I renovated it. They matched up pretty good on my boat but still had to do some fabrication. My idea (having worked with the same seats) is this…build the frame out of wood, maybe marine plywood for the top..and then encase it in fiberglass, I did this with a deck extension on my boat that has 3 compartment lids…I used a very fine weave thin fiberglass cloth to cover all sides. Then encased it with total boat epoxy (or maybe I used fiberglass resin ,can’t remember) anyways man it has lasted over 10 years no issue whatsoever…any bolts or screws I put into it after building it I filled or covered the holes with total boat thixo thick epoxy ( the kind in the caulk gun type deal) I honestly think that would be a good solution and easier cheaper. You could also paint it white afterwards. Since it’s easy to fab wood how you want it and then after everything works properly just completely coat it in fiberglass cloth and epoxy/fiberglass resin.
Pretty tough doing stuff w/o the proper tools, a workbench & some sort of vice/clamps! But ya make die with whatcha got! Way to improvise!
I wait anxiously for video from your channel. What do you do in your full time job? Anyway what other people think ain’t no big thing. Do what you have to do to get you on the water! Love your videos been here watching since the cat was bought. So get er done an can’t wait till next video!!

Check out Tricked Tins KZread Channel. He can make you a white powered coated Aluminum Lid for those seats to mount too. Guy is a good fabricator and owns a shop. Don’t stop now.
Check with tiny boat nation they may be able to help you form a aluminum lead forward it good work 👏
I believe that bass cat offers complete original upholstery for the original seats. I priced them for my 98 Pantera classic and they was around $500.

W Tightline
Did i miss what happened to your Jon boat that you did all that work on?
Seats look good.
Use Thompson water seal on the lumber
To make a metal lid a local hvac shop may help. They have big breaks to bend…otherwise a fabrication shop could but it would cost more I’d think.
Hi ,I think the seats should go the other way around , the bottom should go more back and the top half should go over the top of the bottom half, this would allow the light grey to match up with the bottom half, allowing the pattern to flow from top to bottom,I hope it makes sense what I am trying to say
Tricked tins
Man you are relentless!!! Dashes are a pain. I just did one for an old Glastron. Instead of paint get some carbon fiber wrap and wrap it. Those seats are the standard for bassboat replacement seats. For the wood h20 proofing just get a marine paint and do a couple of coats. I did a Stratos in Pink Krylon that turned out WAY better than expected.

lets get it on the water
Y not use a 3/4 marine plywood n either paint it or sea deck it n attach seats n screw hinge to it n boom yr done bro! The way I did my Triton
So link us to the PVC Board?
I clicked here based on your title. I wanted to see Building CUSTOM boat seat. But I did not see this. What I saw was you installing new seats. Dang!
Nice progress in about 4months ! You should cut your "mistake" sheet a tiny bit smaller and put a wooden rim or something like that around it and then paint it with an accent color (the kind of blue of your seat and decking material maybe?), to make it look like a "picture frame", and then install it into the cutout of the dash, and you should do the same for the other side as well with the gauges.

Also, for your seat, I wouldn't go for aluminium. It costs a lot. If you know how to weld, you could maybe make a structure out of iron angles and put some reinforcements here and there and then put a sheet of whatever you want on top of that (personally, I'd go for either a piece of 1/2 plywood with a piece of 24" flashing coil (the rolls they use in construction sites to make flashing, will need to beg a construction worker for a piece though... unless you want to spend like 100$ bucks on that, there are aluminium variants too...you could bend it over the iron angle structure as well if you want the same look everywhere). Plus, it would be super strong for your piano hinges to grasp onto... drill and tap the holes in the iron angles "in place" (put the structure where it needs to go, raise the piano hinges, drill, then remove and tap.

you can also buy pvc or alu trim that you could use to hide the gaps - paint to match and you should be pleased. Love the seats just be careful @ 60mph that they're rock solid. Being a helm seat, I think it hads USCG attachment requirements (not sure a lot of people pay attention to them but ejection while in seat would be a bummer).
When will you post the video of you taking it on the water

@@TightlineTV good choice!!
The seats aren't looking bad at all. I think using the original frame is a very good idea, but for now, your wooden base works just fine. It's not a luxury boat! That said, you could apply one or two coats of epoxy resin over all your wooden pieces, so that they become more water resistant. That should last for some seasons without any problem. As for the dashboard, well, if you cut it too small, there I not much you can do but buy another PCV sheet and maybe this time make a template before ! Good job considering your limited budget and the few tools you have.
you know one could have just fiberglassed the wood and made it waterproof
Custom lid TBN NATION they make lids
Cool
New skins for the old cat seats are $449 thru BassCat. Just saying you could have saved a little coin and been fully functioning and original. I know, now you tell me. 😂

@@TightlineTV there is a foam repair kit. Can’t recall who makes it? Don’t know how far gone your old seats were but I had a set about 6 years ago redone by a mom & pop shop for around 350. Your new ones don’t look bad other than the custom carpentry 😆

Good info! Haha
Bro when drilling all those holes in the fiberglass use some marine grade silicone 3M makes some. Water will get in and cause the fiberglass to delaminate over time. Of course nailing the plywood down straight into the stringers you done messed it up so bad what does it really matter at this point. RIP Basscat
@TightlineTV

You do know that the originally floor was nailed down right? Haha
Use starboard for a base! Done deal.
Actually better you didn’t use pressure treated because the paint will actually soak in and the resin if you go that route better than if you were to use pressure treated
Those seats look good and are probably better quality than basscat, I have a 18 basscat lynx and the seat material is total cheap garbage all the seams are coming apart
I like what your doing and yes I understand $$$$ don't grow on trees. If you have any resin left just paint that wood with it I should last you a couple of years.
@TightlineTV

I def got some resin! Haha
The best investment you could make is to have the original seats reupholstered these cheap universal seats are not high quality the stitches will bust before the first year and you will be right back in the same boat
A lot of metal recycling places will sell you sheet aluminum by the pound. I fabricate all of my own stuff with a 4" angle grinder and a skil saw. I recently extended my bass boat deck for like $25 you're welcome to comment here and we can talk about it. I even have pictures of what I did

Use HDPE board for the seat base! Im restoring a 16ft aluminum boat using that to replace all the wood. Working great! More expensive that plywood but will last a lifetime.you can get sheets of it at manards.

I had the same thought….and it would work well only issue would be everything would have to be bolted thru. That material can hold a thread or be tapped but with as much lateral stress as a seat base takes …shifting your butt around, bouncing from full speed waves etc I think most anything that’s screwed to it or threaded into it would pull out. Maybe not but I would be cautious of that. That’s why I was recommending wood with fiberglass covering.
