My dad said it was important for me to go there to live and learn my culture,heritage and language because the last thing he wanted to me to be was like a puerto rican . Hispanic not knowing shit about the culture or even speaking spanish.

I get what you're saying. There are many Dominican descendants (1st generation Americans) who live in communities immersed in the culture (language, foods, etc...). But Fab wasn't born up in the culture, so that why he respectfully says "His father's Dominican"b/c that's his father's culture, not his.
