This BS has been going on for generations. In the 80's the military recruited black women as they checked two boxes. We would get these assigned to us and they were completely worthless so we sat them in a corner and forgot about them. They were happy with this as they didn't want to work anyway. They once sent me a 300lb black female antenna mechanic and the job demanded she climb a 100ft antenna to change the aircraft warning light. She couldn't fit the service door to get to the ladder.

@@someguy7805 You can get to the exact regulation you need to reference a lot faster by googling it🤦‍♂ Also, pilots aren't supposed to argue, they're supposed to follow directions. Pilots typically have grossly overinflated egos and that in itself is one of the biggest dangers in commercial aviation. People who hide medical conditions, including mental health issues and alcoholism. Most of them would end up flipping burgers if they couldn't fly because that's literally all they know. You have to have a bachelors degree for many jobs these days but not airline pilots. There are some who have studied engineering or maintenance but most wouldn't actually be able to do a full preflight on the planes they fly because they don't know enough about how they're built. All they know are basically a bunch of checklists. it is mostly learned by rote. They're usually arrogant and self-important. I can't think of a worse safety issue other than what is going on with Boeing. They had another major incident with a 737 Max within the past couple of days. Since the pilot doesn't have a complete picture of the airspace in which they are flying and ATC does, you usually want to listen to them.

I'm pretty sure the idea is to get people to fear airline travel and avoid it like the plague , thereby lowering the CO2 pollution caused by all those pesky airliners in the air. The thousands of private jets will be fine though , and there will be qualified controllers to deal with that traffic.

Theres a lot of ways to show how much bs the CO2 climate change garbage is. But this one is easy for you to check. Most of the worlds plants grow best in an atmosphere containing 1000 to 2500 ppm CO2 concentration. You can check that with growers across the world. You can also check to see the recorded increase in vegetation across the world. Right now the average world atmospheric CO2 concentration is around 430 ppm. Check that with NASA. Atmospheric CO2 concentrations are not harmful to humans or animals until 8000 ppm atmospheric CO2 concentrations. Check that with OSHA. 8000 ppm is impossible if we base calculations on how much CO2 could be put in the atmosphere by burning all the fuel available on earth according to thouse thouse say we can actually run out of CH fuels.

You do realize they're not actually going to hire someone like that as a controller, right? He would never pass the test. he would be a janitor or something like that. There are other jobs at the FAA that don't require intelligence or skill, like being the director.

No one has ever said "I hope this plane is flown and maintained by the most diverse crew the airline can get."

As a black man, I have to say that you don't put your worst batter at the plate with the winning run at 2nd base. Nor do you pick your worst shooter to make the winning technical free throw. @@FloorItDuh love the name. I'm aware that there are quite a few jobs I could get around an airport. Maybe fire crew, or de-icing would suit me well, but other than being a pilot or mechanic, I never put much thought into it. I've pretty much ruled out both of those jobs. I'm not fond of being a mechanic (I'm slow and forgetful), and too old and need to jump through too many hoops to be a professional pilot. The raise in pay wouldn't cover the cost of training before I should retire.

@@Lurch-Bot I did say somebody like me. Hyper focus is a valuable tool, but leads to burnout. This would not be a good situation for someone directing aircraft. For that you need someone who is both attentive and reliable. As far as therapy goes, I've had my fair share, and so many people have attempted to push me beyond my capacities leading to failure. I've come to the conclusion that I am what I am, and though I can add tremendous value in creative endeavors, and I'm really good (not amazing) at operating vehicles, I don't have the ability to do certain professions even though the knowledge comes easily. I could be a pilot, but the paperwork involved and need to sleep at scheduled times precludes me from doing it professionally. I'm also going to add that it's quite rude to say that someone is a liar, and follow up with saying they need therapy. You can suggest such things, but you don't know me, my age, what I've been through, or anything else. I was diagnosed in 1994 with ADD as the hyperactive presentation was differentiated at that point in time. I've spent my 20's wondering why I couldn't get anything right because I was told I could do anything if I just tried hard enough. That sort of idiocy almost led to me no longer being part of this world. I'm not helpless by any means, but I also choose not to live in a world of dilution.

This has only become more known about. It's been going on for decades. When I was in college, ALL THE WAY BACK in the late 80's, I shit you not, on the employment opportunities board at the college I was attending, almost ALL of the posted jobs had, at the bottom, "African Americans are encouraged to apply." DEI was just more subtle, but still there.

This is one of the most ignorant things they have done. DEI is also stupid because this policy puts passengers in danger. 😢

They can hire people of any color of skin. It’s just they also need to make sure anyone they do hire better to be smart enough to do the job regardless of skin color.

I have a 20-yr old niece with autism. She has a mental-emotional development of a 5-yr old. I'll tell her to put in her application for a job as an air traffic controller.

It’s a severe disservice to hire someone for DEI. If a company is known to use DEI as a hiring practice, they will just make people believe that the employee got hired solely because of the skin color and/or their sexual preference. That’s not fair to the employee and it frightens the costumer.

Bad ideas subvert one's judgement. If one adopts bad ideas, and truly believe those ideas - truly bad results ensue.

43 yrs ago Regan fired air traffic controllers. My brother applied with 200 others. 6 passed the test to be sent to the FAA school. 3 got a job, he was one. He got fired because he was made to do a completely different job. No computer support tech existed and they kept crashing. My genius tech savvy brother was constantly called in to work on the computers on his days off. It totally stressed him working 70 hrs a week doing both jobs. When he finally said, he got canned for something unrelated to the job that they excused during the hiring process. If you are smarter than the management they will use you up until YOU stop allowing them to abuse your talents. Those that barely qualify, Excel.

@@tacticalmattfoley People who are good pilots are quite literally born that way and are rare. It is called being a natural stick and rudder pilot. Everyone else is just painting by the numbers. Sully was the exception that proves the rule.

Maybe it was diversity of door plugs which led to the Alaskan flight to lose a door?

I work at an airport and I have already seen the errors increase on the ATC side...

You'd rather have some average person with a lackadaisical attitude towards safety than someone who is constantly worried something will go wrong? OK.

Please tell me they'll become air traffic controllers.

These people won`t be happy until we are all living in caves and walking again.

One guy was fired from the small carrier so he stole one of the planes and crashed it into the other(s) in protest.

YT shorts has alot of pilot to Air Traffic Control conversations. It is fascinating to hear these conversations. Some are hilarious. Some are enlightening.

I've never been overly concerned about a plane crashing into my house before, but this is clown world now.

All I can say about this, is that I am glad that there are so many places you can drive to in the US, rather than fly.
