Shoot, I have a build on Gran Turismo 7 with stage 3 weight reduction, race exhaust, headers, air intake, slotted rotors, 17" wheels and she weighs 2183lbs. With those bolts ons in addition to a custom mapped ECU, and a custom rear diff (currently close to stock settings), she's outputting 269HP to the crank @7500rpms and 205lbs of torque at 4600rpms. All with a completely stock motor! She already feels like a rocket ship 😆. Can't wait to see how me moves when I fine tune the gearing and rear diff. Adding engine upgrades is last on my list as I'll have to stiffen up the chassis to prevent twisting which will add more weight in addition to beefier tires. Will probably want to add a front splitter too. Ahhh, I love tweaking things. Can't wait for the day I can roll off the lot with one of my own. 🤩

@@787blah If I were to aim toward being that light I'd. Completely gut the car down to the chassis and weight that. Depending on what it weighed from there would determine if I wanted to go further than that, highly doubt it other than swapping out the exhaust. But since it'd be a dedicated track car at that point, might as well go ahead and strip the engine bay down while all of the wiring is exposed and remove all of the unnecessary bits (Windshield washer, A/C, Heating unit, wiring harness, wires) and rebuild the harness. Seats, light weight battery, engine components, pulleys, wheels/tires. Replace the windows with poly and if the budget allowed, lastly would be to start replacing body panels with carbon fiber. Realistically though I'd want to retain most of the cars base functionality so I'd just gut it, rebuild the wiring harness, replace the windows, throw an aero kit on it, add fully covered underbody panels and call it a day. From the manufacturing line the engineers already lightened up the materials of the roof of the car and the hood is made out of aluminum so there's not too much more weight to shave off unless you want to replace the roof entirely. As I performed engine upgrades overtime, I'd replace components with their counterparts.

Had my 2023 BRZ back from HARROP for two weeks now. Given all the funds I've thrown at race engines and gear for various track cars over many years the money spent with HARROP for the S/C plus install is hands down the best investment yet. @@bttawfiq Of course! To give a more precise reason, it’s mostly timing trickery for most new engines, among other improvements such as direct injection. The FA24 in the BRZ/GR86 specifically knocks constantly, by design. The computer relies on the knock sensors to pull timing through VVT in situations where you have bad fuel or it’s at the very top of the rev range. For this reason, you can actually run regular fuel in “premium only” vehicles without damaging anything, it’ll just cut 30% of the power or thereabouts. Mazda’s system is more advanced than Subaru, so the owner’s manual for the BRZ says that you may use 87 octane in an emergency, but do not rev it all the way out. Mazda on the other hand says that you may run 87, but expect a sizable decrease in power. If you’d like more power with forced induction on modern vehicles, you may run race fuel or more commonly E85 and tune for that, with an increase in power without changing compression ratio or boost, since the knock sensors won’t retard timing with those fuels.

@@haifai3916 I do understand how it works, but thanks for the explanation nonetheless. I used to own a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, that engine knocked like crazy in very hot weather and 91 Octane fuel barely satisfied it, I used to add a few liters of 109 Octane race fuel to each tank fill up, worked like a charm. When I researched it it appears the engine management in Hemis aren't good in timing manipulation, and it had a 10.9:1 compression ratio.

That pulley seems way too big? Is there an option for 80mm and 12psi. Along with injectors and valve springs, of course exhaust, should make significantly more power. This will still seem slow?? As in buy the Subaru ts model with all the chassis mods stock, then add this for power, albeit not enough still
