Perfectly what I think about this patch. There is a lot of toxic community right now of "bvr is not skill or fun". BVR is easy to learn the basics but harder to do it in a smart way. As you said in the video once u find someone competent it becomes challenging

6:54 I agree with you here and I'm very confused that people are complaining that "now everything is about positioning". It has always been the case ever since you Air RB exist. Positioning is even more important in prop because altitude advantage is almost everything. That's what everyone has been doing in props and early jets. I guess it shows the people that buys rank 7 premium and only bomb base until they get a top tier.

Yep a lot are angry that they cant just fly in a strait line and they wonder why they die soo fast and cant do anything when rwr finaly pings them By the time rwr shows a incoming missile for them they are already dead with 0 alt and soo much speed that they cant turn(and they dont know what to do and just die)

BVR is awkward in the same way rate fighting is awkward - to the uninformed it looks super basic, but there's so much going on behind the scenes for the pilots that it *feels* super intense; makes it tricky to work good content around because the visual element alone isn't that interesting, you don't tend to "see" the kills and because the content on it is kinda dull(er than dogfighting), the number of people who get it is lower.

  • @MrRobschnieder

My biggest complaint is the people who don’t have fox 3’s having to fight those who do. Sim is really nice because you can’t be uptiered or down tiered randomly. You get to pick your BR however with multipathing being reduced any jet without a fox 3 (including the stock grind period) is going to suffer harddddd. I’d like to grind out the gripen c but having a lot of trouble fighting off all the fox 3 spam. Also dog fighting at this point seems to be a thing of the past.

  • @PvtPartzz

I still think the best solution to stock imbalances and non fox3 carrying aircraft vs those that do carry them is a battle rating system that’s dependent on the weapons you take into the battle. A far easier solution is to just increase the BR of fox 3 carrying aircraft and give them 2 stock fox3’s and stock chaff.

Speaking of Stock grinding, Gaijin really screwed the J-11A players, making the already unpleasant Su-27/J-11 stock way worse. I mean, if they force the stock grind mechanic, okay, not great but it is what it is, but making them worse, which I have assume is intentional, since someone had to sit down and specifically design that, that's just a kick in the nuts. Besides, the J-11A isn't even some OP meta mobile or anything.

The games going to a little bit more like DCS the way that game is but idk still like the DCS a little bit more because you can actually click the buttons in the cockpit and put the information into the jets computer that's needed so its a bit more realistic in tha sense. War Thunder is getting closer to more realistic with its and now they just need to have a way where you interact with the cockpit like as if the cockpit was right in front of you. Good video here though nice to show it off and get the information out.

The stock 2x 9L sans chaff grind is going to be a nightmare. Honestly, why does the weapon grind even exist other than frustration at this point? Make us grind performance modules, sure, but having to also grind for weapons is really making me look at EC10 bracket and think...nah 11:10 Even at 11.3/11.7 i've practically stopped using sidewinders myself. flew out the f14 and phantoms, had a blast last night slinging sparrows and aim54s at people who fly straight then proceed to mald and say that i'm ruining their pve lobby. war (thunder) never changes.

Extremely disappointing that they refuse to give the F-15 its rightful radar, the APG-63 and APG-63(V)1 are extremely underperforming in game. Missing 3 search modes and about 100km of range, and the F-15A is missing it’s TWS

The AAM-4 got patched. It is now a very competitive missile. At high altitudes and ranges, it may actually be the best Fox-3 in the game right now. Before on the dev server, it kinda just wiggled away all its speed (~1.8 mach impact at 40km and 8,000m with static mach 1 targets. That used to be ~1.0 mach💀). But now it actually carries more speed than Aim-120 past 30km despite a lower average top speed. I'd say at least it's Aim-120's equal in most cases, with AMRAAM still having a bit better performance sub 20km and at lower altitudes just due to how fast it accelerates. My loadout tends to be 4xAAM-4 + 2xAim-120A + 2xAAM-3. Thing is a beast.

The Aim-120A is the early 1991 version of the AMRAAM the AAM-4 is basically a AIM-120C-5 a year 2000 missile. The development speed of electronics in the 90s was insane and pretty incomprehensible to someone who only entered their teens in 2014-2024. For example the AIM-120A had ROM (Read Only memory), which could not be reprogrammed, while the B from 1994 had EPROM which could be reprogrammed via UV-Light. And the A Slammer was shorter ranged than the Sparrow 55-75 km (at altitude headon aspect) whereas the C-5 was up to 108 km. Another example of the speed of the 90s was that in 1990 no GPUs existed, then came 2D Accelerators during the 1991-1995 era, the came the first 3D Accelerators in 1996 which were dedicated cards, so you needed one card for 2D and one for 3D. The first fully featured GPUS as we understand them today, capable of hardware accelerated 2D and 3D on one card, came in 1997-1998 but still had Performance issues. And the first single chip GPU that could compete and best the combination of a 2D and a 3D Accelerator card, came out in 1999. DirectX went through Seven, 7(!) Major iterations between 1995 and 1999. Seven major Iterations in 5 years. And DirectX 8 came out in late 2000. During the 90s a one year old PC was outdated, and often couldn't play the newest games. Or only on lower settings.

@@LupusAries I'm familiar with the crazy technology leap that happened during the 90's and 00's. My dad works in broadcasting, so I got to see a bunch of old stuff they keep around for compatibility reasons. Unfortunately, most of that is not reflected in WT. So the true capacity of AAM-4 is not likely to be reached

Wait, why did you turn your RADAR off? IRL, RADAR-guided missiles don't "home in" on a RADAR signature, they "home in" on the contact that was originally designated to them from the "mother" RADAR... ie, when you lock a target (whether in TWS or STT), you tell your missile "This is my target"... The missile will then chase down that target, when you drop the lock, the missiles onboard RADAR will take over, staying on the same target. It is not chasing a RADAR signature, it is chasing a physical cross-section. So turning your RADAR off to defeat an incoming missile is like opening an umbrella underwater to avoid getting wet. The actual way you defeated the incoming missile was because you correctly "notched" it. Notching is where you turn 90 degrees to the tracking RADAR so that your closure rate is the same rate as its velocity. With a DOPPLER-styled RADAR, anything with a closure rate that is the same as the velocity of the RADAR is seen as a static object (like a mountain or a building) so the RADAR then ignores it. The most advanced missiles in Warthunder currently, only have DOPPLER-styled RADAR's, so notching is incredibly effective. Further to this, notching is a real-world tactic used by pilots. As is the F-Pole manouvre.

@@Blandy086 I said it in that way to emphasize the point that you don't need to maintain a radar lock for the missile to connect with the target. It has nothing to do with defeating the missile which is why I went defensive and explained why in the video.
